Your expectations for Almagro for 2016 and beyond?

Can you believe that not so long ago Wawrinka and Almagro were considered as good as each other (maybe Almagro was rated slightly better). And in the space of a few years Wawrinka has gone on to win 2 Slams, and Almagro is now basically playing the challenger's tour.

Almagro has just as god power as Wawrinka off both wings, as good a serve, and his movement is similar as well. The only two differences are that Wawrinka actually worked on his volleys and is thus able to finish off the points that his big groundstrokes earn him whereas I don't think I've EVER seen Almagro be able to finish a point at the net. And, Wawrinka has worked on his mental strength whereas Almagro is still a nut-case.

Yet Almagro has still shown he is capable of good tennis - taking a set off Djokovic on clay last year. So, what do you think guys - will Almagro be able to pull it together?

He'll be back in the top 20. Because he plays with a Volkl now :p
Seriously though, he's one of the best shot makers IMO. I saw his match yesterday and this guy hits BIG. The problem has always been on the mental side. Too impatient. And he seems to lose his composure easily.

Not sure if there's a coach alive to help a head case of this level. He has the shots to really do some damage but his net game is a huge weakness at the top level.

He also had one of the best serves on the tour. Better than any top10. Check the stats.

But not sure what happened to him? Injury?

Almagro's choke against Ferrer in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open 2013 was painful to behold. One of the worst chokes of recent decades. He served for the match three times and still lost. Moreover, on the first occasion, he hadn't yet lost serve all match (if I recall correctly).

Almagro might win a Clay ATP 250 this season but I don't see him reaching the highs he did in years gone by.

Spot on. Almagro is a real talent and a joy to watch , but he,s too full of himself.
