Your greatest WORST string of all time is...

Yeah, E-matrix is cheap and isn't worth the money. AlphaGut 2000 is much better in all respects. Decent syn gut is probably better too. Still, at least it was playable for a bit.

That reminds me, the LM Rad came with a factory string job (don't know the name) that was just unbelievable awful and harsh and like hitting with cage wire!:)

Yes! Head Synthetic Gut 16g I believe. What kind of synthetic lacks pop as much as that??

"Tie" (for me at least..) would be... Prince "Stop Light" and Wilson "SweetSpot"... both with good "philosophies" yet neither did a damn in actuality of performance...

A few come to mind.

When I first read the thread title I took it as, “Worst string according to everyone else that you actually like.” For me, that’s Golden Set Snake Bite, which has a bad reputation, but I use with pretty good results.

It seems like most of y’all are treating it as, “What’s the worst string you’ve ever used, full stop.” For me that’s a tricky two-way tie between Isospeed Baseline (is this even poly?) and Blue Rock N Power, which is somehow too powerful and too low-powered at the same time, plus is the only poly I’ve played in the last two years that made my shoulder hurt.

For me it's probably Solinco Revolution. Could never play when it was in, everything was inconsistent, no feel whatsoever, and no control while getting a very low amount of power. That's puzzling because I tend to love stiffer strings but Revolution is just weird in a way that for me makes it unplayable.

Pro Hurricane Tour in my K90 when I was younger. I believed I smashed my racket out of disgust of how bad my strings felt during a match. The experience was so bad I didn’t venture out of Luxilon until 9 years later

as far as polys go the old grey vpro has been one of the worst for me. very dead and hard ... not crispy at all, even when fresh. still want to mess around with it at lower tensions bc i have a ton of it

Klipper Pearl Zone (supposedly like Wilson Sensation). I must have strung it wrong, because it felt super stiff with a loud pinging noise. Got zero enjoyment out of it.

Any syn gut. Breaks in like 3 games.

Worst other than that: Luxilon 5 star...awful feel and zero control. Theres a reason it was discontinued and was never spoken of again.

at the risk of shocking a lot of people, my worst will have been: luxilon alu original. owhen just stringing, you have to wait at least 30 to 45 minutes for it to be really good .. and there, it's probably the best string ever , then, after 1:30 of play it starts to become uncontrollable, and 30mn more late, it's dead. so, more than 15 € for 1h30 of tennis, it is unthinkable. there are so many string that cost 3 times less, play a little less well, but also last 3 times longer, than ... BBO can not be a good string. (unless it's free)

Babolat Pro hurricane tour 18g, the stiffest harshest string I have come across...normally never cut out a string until it is unusable but had to cut this out after just a couple outings cuz saving a few bucks over arm pain is never worth it

Recall it also broke in the 1st hr. Quickie
Is it actually the same as Sensation? Isn't it supposed to be soft? I don't actually remember playing with it for very long, so I don't remember how it fared durability-wise. It was also pretty expensive, especially compared to regular syngut, which I actually don't mind.

Technifibre E-Matrix, broke within 30 minutes. One soft string

I was going to give a nod to this stuff, too.

When my first set blew out in a hurry, I assumed that I had make some sort of mistake when I installed it in one of my frames. Then the next try crapped out just as quickly and one of my pals who sampled it popped his E-Matrix in only about a 1/2 hour. WOW!!

Head Rip Control is the worst string I've ever tried. No feel, no response - just terrible. Only string I've ever cut out of a racket just because I hated it. Kind of like harsh-feeling mush.
I've tried all types of strings and played most of my tennis life with Kevlar. Rip Control gave me nothing.
Agreed, cut it out after just a practice hit.

honestly hated solinco hyper-g - overrated

I never liked solinco strings since a bad.feel from orig. tour.bite
hyp.g is getting good feedback, so your tensions and racquet combo is prov. not correct "for you", yet,,,,
once we have a bad feel experience with a string, we tend to hesitate to try again,,
i had this happen to me with lux.4g, same scenario.. i tried it again latter and now like (the lux.4g at lower tensions, not my favorite by a long shot, but I figure it out)..

I was just thinking of "sweetspot" the other day when I had to string a racquet 50/50! And I had completely forgotten about Prince Stoplight!

For me the worst string I ever used was Forten 15g Nylon. We had reels of this stuff in college, and we all stung it up with Ashaway Kevlar in the mains... I like to refer to those as the dark days of my set ups! Hard to imagine now, but I was plowing through that stuff one racquet a match. The 14x18 pattern on my Graphite II's probably had something to do with that! 8-B

The string in my highschool gym tennis racquets were horrible. Some cheap dead uncontrollable nylon. Just bleh...

Babolat Origin. I played this fresh, broken in, and in multiple racquets that I otherwise love, demos from a local shop. I tried it full bed and as a hybrid. It always felt like I was trying to hit boiled cabbage through a tuna net soaked in lard, but less sense of connection

Best - Forten Aramid Gear - FABULOUS bit on the ball for unbelievable kick on serve!!!

Worst - Forten Aramid Gear - ABSOLUTLY zero feel and tennis elbow best friend!!!

For sure... most over rated string on the market...

Lux M2 Pro. Totally anti-climatic. Great because of the price. The first day it was my favorite string ever. But during the second day the tension softened and lost all playability. It was especially heart-breaking because it played so well and seemed worth the price on the first day.
