After a crushing, and I mean crushing Thursday for yours truly, I'm back in here to start the discussion on the Men's Final tomorrow. Now that my two favorites, Agassi and Roddick, are out, I'm gonna have to go with my third favorite guy, and his name is Lleyton Hewitt. If not win it all, then at least put up a good battle Lleyton. Do it for the starving children in Africa, and do it to avenge Old Man Agassi. C'MONNNNNNNNNNNNN!

I'm hopping on the Aussie train as well. I think he wants to play Federer unlike other people right now, and that is definitely a good thing.

I think Federer may have the crowd behind him actually.

Other than Hewitt's come from behind Davis Cup match last year Federer has played extremely well against Hewitt in the last 12 months.

    Federer in straights.

Dude, Federer is some insane tennis cyborg. Hewitt has done well, but he's toast in 4.

Since Hewitt's my fav player, I'm pulling for Lleyton. However, as PusherMan says, Fed's a cyborg... it's going to be a tough match. I'm hoping Fed has an off day tomorrow.

You guys are hillarious, everyone coming up with a totally different possible score. The ultimate question is which one of you guys is a better prognosticator? Tommorow will tell.

Hewitt is too good to lose in straight sets. I have to say Federer in 5 awesome sets of tennis. This could be the match of the year.

If fed wins the first set, it's over, and hewitt doesn't have a chance. If Hewitt wins the first set, I'd say he has a 50/50 chance, and it would have to be in 5. Fed has a way of stepping up in the huge matches as of late. however, hewitt has been completely unstoppable this summer, and he has his legs back. The guy is running everything down and attacking every chance he gets.

I just want to see a close, competitive, non error-filled slam final, dernit! We got a pretty good one at Wimbledon this year, and we should hope for better with Hewitt v. Federer (esp. since a lot of the matches this week have been kinda boring.)

Oh, and umm, yeah, I guess I'll predict Hewitt in 5.

Federer is going to win in three sets.

    6-0, 7-6, 6-0

After he wins, he will roll on the floor and put his hands over his face.

Notice everyone calling Hewitt weaponless as well. These people knew they were watching a weak era.

Lot of people pulling for/predicting Lleyton to come away with this one though

    Ah ok.

Yep plenty thought Lleytons form was enough to force a contest.

Look how everyone didn't think Hewitt was a mug back then.

The historical revisionism of "weak era" is hilarious.

Of course no one called "weak era" then. Federer had only just started dominating. That said, the stats favoured Federer here even though a lot of people obviously thought Lleyton had a chance (looks like some voted with their heart tbh). Hewitt did have a chance, but going back to the stats, before this match Federer had won in 4 at the AO (with a bagel) Then he won in straights in Hamburg (with a bagel), and in 4 at Wimbledon (with a bagel and a breadstick). The Federer smoke job (with 2 bagels) wasn't completely unexpected if you looked at it objectively is all I'm trying to say. At that time, Federer was turning around the H2H and had a way of playing certain sets and some matches that would just take the racquet out of Hewitt's hands. In fairness to Hewitt, he did that to everyone except a guy with a massive serve like Karlovic maybe, and he's only lost to him once.
