Your opponent didn’t show up. Now what?

Here’s a good drill that works if your opponent doesn’t show up:
1. Practice serves with several balls or from a bin. Try different serves and also your spare racket alternating the serve side. On balls that go into the net use them to practice smashes by first banging each hard against the ground then straight high in the air first.
2. Now start with 2 balls in your tossing hand, throw the first one up for the serve, then run up, bang the first one up and hit the smash. Repeat for several minutes.
3. Now do #2 with a 3rd ball in your pocket, but also do a 3rd ball forehand drive to the back of the court fence or bubble or court divider.

This drill is useful for many aspects and uses the hour effectively.

i like practicing my s+1 combos:
1. deuce wide, run around bh, fh io
2. deuce tee, one step to right, sharp angle fh cc
3. ad tee, run around bh, fh io
4. ad wide, one step to right, fh cc
5. deuce body, short low return, bh cc to open court
6. deuce body, short low return, run around bh (hunt fh), fh io/ii
7. ad body, short low return, fh dtl/cc

(generally note which ones i missed in previous matches, and usually practice those more)

Interesting though if you’re on the court alone who’s feeding you the balls for those other shots? Or ru just practicing the prep and swing after the serves without hitting anything?
