Your Racquet Timeline

Trip to second hand sports store, picked up a cheap Oversized Wilson piece of crap that felt light, knew nothing, went to courts and cut my chops, had a hard as hell time keeping it in the court.

Next up Wilson Hyper Hammer OS found on sale, still knew nothing, getting better, then Wilson N-Code with a 110 sq inch head...by now being a beginner and having light oversized crap finally caught up to me...TENNIS ELBOW!!!!

Did some research, found out about "players racquets" found a retired Club Teaching Pro on Craigslist who was selling all his old demo's since he had bad knees and took up golf...he gave me 2 Prince Diablo Mid's and a Spectrum Comp 90...within 1 month the Tennis Elbow was gone, and within 2 years a struggling 2.5 was hanging with and beating on occasion 4.0's! Game has improved to solid 4.0 weak 4.5, I since retired the Diablo's to a buddy (who also improved dramatically with them), moved to the sticks below:

Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 95's (Classic, HPS, N-Code, K...kept the Classic and still go to it often)

Head Radical Twin Tube MP "Zebra" (My main stick)

Volkl DNX 9 (Leather Grip, this thing is really growing on me)

Sticks I've "flipped" back on the Bay because I liked, but not enough to boot one of the above out of my bag: Prince EXO Graphite 100, Prince 0zone Tour, Head Speed MP (16x19 and 18x20), Dunlop M-Fil 300 and 200, Dunlop AP 200, Prince Precision 97 "Rafter Stick", Head Extreme MP and Pro, Head Youtek Prestige Mid and Pro, Radical tour OS "bumble Bee" Agassi stick, Radical tour MP "Bumble Bee" (I want to shoot myself for flipping it back on the bay before I at least tried fresh strings).

Sticks on the "Display Wall" that I often take out for fun include: Head Graphite Edge, Head Graphite Pro, Head Pure Competition, Prince Spectrum Comp 90, and a bunch of garage sale "Woodies" I keep for a fun beer drinking wood racquet tourney we hold each year!

Played when I was younger with a Spalding Aero Smasher, which is actually of decent quality for a cheap Wal-Mart frame.

Decided to get back into the game a little over a year gap, so I bought a cheap Wilson from Wal-Mart. Used it briefly before determining to get a serious frame. After some demos, bought the IG Extreme Pro 2.0. Used it for roughly 5-6months before switching to the TFight 315 Ltd 16 Main. Have really only tried one frame since, a BLX Blade Team that I got for my wife.

So my short list is:

Spalding Aero Smasher (many years ago)
$20 Wilson (briefly upon returning to the game)
HEAD Youtek IG Extreme Pro 2.0
Tecnifibre TFight 315 Ltd 16 Main

Wilson Titanium Walmart special
Wilson hyper hammer 115
Prince o3 emerald x2
Prince exo3 graphite 100
Wilson blx pro open
Dunlop aerogel 4D 300T
Back to Pro open
Pacific xforce
Back to pro open
Dunlop aerogel 4D 200T
Back to exo3 graphite
Back to pro open
Babolat Pure Drive Roddick GT
Back to pro open
Head MG Radical MP x2
Pacific xforce lite modded
Prince o3 speed port black
Currently at the Pro Open again.

Reason being that I haven't stayed with the pro open is that I'm always looking for a heavier feeling stick. The pro open is basically my "square one" racket for when things go wrong. I can always go back to it. I like a heavier feel, but when I modded my pro open to be heavier it just feels like a launcher and my form suffers. Fun times.

Take this with a grain of salt... I can't remember all of them but I think this is pretty close.

Starting in 1980 at age 5:

Wilson T2000
Prince Jr.
Prince Power Pro/ POG
Prince CTS Approach
Prince Thunderstick
Wilson Pro staff classic 6.1
Dunlop 300g
Wilson ProStaff 85
POG mid and 110
Prince o3 tour/ ozone tour
Boris Becker London
BB London Tour
Prince exo3 tour 18/20

I'm a tried and true Prince guy since the beginning. Ever though I've cheated on my Princes, I always seem to come back to the brand because of the quality feel and plushness of their tour series/POG sticks.
The only stick that has ever come close to great feel was the BB London's which are really just dressed up Volkls.

I've been playing since 1980, NCAA Div 1 tennis and now, old man tennis. Prince has been my Muse and that's why they are still making a Pog almost 40 years since the first one came out. It truly is just as good today as it was in the last 1970s.

Just remembered in the mid 1990s I cheated with the Donnay ProOne mid for about 3 years after the PS 6.1...

I still hit the six one 95 18x20 some and am best with that racquet-- I felt the 2012 edition was a step in the wrong direction from 2010, so I'm eager to see if the 2014 is any good, if I decide not to stick with the Blade 104.
