That's quite the break!
No doubt, but fairly common for junior tennis players that burn out by senior year of high school and obviously didn't have the game to take tennis to the collegiate level. College and partying were far more important at the time and then graduation lead into the real world and one day you realize it was a huge mistake to give up on the game completely. On the plus side, I'm finding playing the game today to be as rewarding as it was back then, which is kind of the whole point anyway.

Cool, I feel you.

Starting from when I began to take tennis seriously in the 4th grade:
  • Babolat Pure Drive Roddick Junior Racquet
  • Prince Original Graphite 100
  • Babolat Pure Drive Roddick
  • Babolat Pure Drive Roddick GT +
  • Wilson BLX Six.One 95 (16x18) - Amplifeel Model
  • Babolat Aero Pro Drive
Now I'm a college student who doesn't have time for tennis :(

Nice comments. I also burned out during my senior year of HS after playing 5-6 days a week for a 4 years. I could have played D2/D3 but my desire to go to my alma mater outweighed my desire to play college tennis. Luckily I only took a year off. Happy hitting!

I didn't start playing until I was about 14 then stopped between perhaps 19 and 36, I started again this summer.

Pre break

Wilson high beam something
Prince graphite
Wilson Pro Staff - courier stars and stripes 85 Sq in
Yonex rd3
Prince graphite longbody

Post break

Babolat pure storm
Wilson Pro Staff 100l
Babolat pure strike
Angell tc95

Currently playing with the pure strike and will start with the Angell when I get it from the stringer today. Very much feeling out what I want from a racket before I settle with one.

Didn't start until I was way too late, was more of a badminton player, what a mistake.

That said;

1) Prince Ace Face 90 (yup, no one knows about this racquet)
2) Babolat Pure Drive GT Roddick
3) Pro Kennex Black Ace 98
4) Wilson Pro Staff 97

Glad I didn't go crazy on racquets.

Let's see if I can remember most of my frames history, this will be a long one

So, I started at 1983, I was eleven years old, my first racket was either an wooden Snauwaert Vitas Gerulaitis Autograph or an aluminium Wilson TX 3000 - those were my first two sticks, can't remember which came first

Than my first Mid: two wooden Browning Contact

Than my first graphite mid, some lame Rucanor, navy blue, and than I started to buy and sell rackets very often, I played with some cool rackets for a couple of months period at that time, and than change: Dunlop Max 200G, Rossignol F-200, Le Coq Sportif TF-40, Kneissel Super Pro Vario, Prince Pro Oversize, and probably some more

By the end of the 80's, early 90's, I had an Head crush, played with a Comp Pro or a Graphite Radial for almost 10 years, until 1998

After Head I changed to PS 6.0 95, a friend of mine brought my first one from NY.
I started to look at a spare but has I could not find any, my brother was selling 2 PS 6.1 Classic, so I sold the 6.0 and bought his 6.1's - great racket, those were two happy years

Than I joined a tennis club to have regular hitting partners, the club was sponsored by Fischer, and I convinced my self (fatal error...) I needed to get a lighter bigger racket - Fischer Pro Nr. 1, and hated

My next racket was still from Fischer, a Pro Extreme, that was a cool racket

Than, I went back to Wilson, with PS N-6.1, loved this frames, but got serious TE, and had to change - bought two N Blades 98 without testing, and that was fatal error nr. 2, simply hated

By that time the guy who I sold my 6.0 was selling it, so I ditched the Blades immediately and back to PS 6.0, my TE healed immediately, and it's been my go to stick since than, bought a total of 7, cracked two, and I'm keeping 5 left

Meanwhile, a few years ago I started to feel some graphite classics nostalgia, and in the process of looking for spare 6.0 95's , I got a racket addiction.
since than I'm collecting classics, or just good bargains for players sticks .

My first move got me 2 Max 200 G's, an Adidas GTX-Pro Ivan Lendl, and my beloved 6.0 85 late China. How could I stop after this?

Now, I own around 25 sticks, all graphite classics or players frames.

Still loyal to my 6.0 95s, but I have a couple of mistresses in my bag: the 85 (that shouldn't count), and sometimes an Avery M3 Control or PS N-6.1 18x20 - and I'm trying a pro stock Dunlop Ag 300 Tour

That's it for 32 years of tennis

Only started playing 7 years ago.

These are the ones I have used regularly:

1) Some beginner rackets which I may or may not have smashed
2) Head Youtek Speed MP 18x20 - absolutely loved it but had to dump it due to tennis elbow
3) Head Extreme Pro 2.0 - never got used to it though, too much power
4) Wilson BLX Six One Pro Staff 95 - Nice frame but missed the big serves from the Speed and the dead upper hoop was a no-go
5) Wilson K Blade 98 - pretty much everything I wanted from a racket
6) Wilson BLX Six One Tour - addicted to the plow and feel and power
7) Wilson Pro Staff 90 2014 - My favourite just to enjoy hitting, although I alternate between this and the K Blades
8?) Vantage VT100 - Might switch to these over my K Blades, super fun to hit with but I am missing the 18x20 string pattern in a mid+ frame.

And a lot of experiments with other rackets which are either now sold or just lying around waiting to be tried out/sold.

Very similar to my story. After high school I played once or twice a year during my college years and then took a 10+ year break. Picked it back up last Spring. It's such a great sport. Fun, challenging, and it gets me the exercise I need.

All these frames had certain Characteristics that I liked. The Melbourne was for the longest time the most comfortable and dependable frame I have ever used. I get pretty much the same performance from the Evo except I find it easier to serve with and it does not tire me out like the Melbourne recently started to do.

- Puma Boris Becker Junior (kiddies alu version) - always hated it and borrowed father's racquet when he couldn't play
- Slazenger CS105 (father's racquet, but was really heavy for a 12 year old kid)
- Wilson Ceramic FP Ultra 95 Series (that father bought me, because Slazenger was so heavy and so he would get his racquet back)

Funfact - when dad wasn't using Slazenger - I still preffered to play with it ... I remember it had some sort of yellow Gosen string ... Wilson had Prince Duraflex.

Forward 20+ years (life happened and stopped playing, but got back again this summer) ...
- Wilson Ceramic FP Ultra 95 Series, now with Signum Pro Tornado and is a true filthy beast
