You could have at least given Thiem the dark horse spot lol
I’m joking. Of course he is among the dark horses, but I have a feeling Thiem might withdraw after getting beaten by another Roflnego in Lyon. I didn’t like his body language in his Rome loss at all.

Nah he looked much better in Rome than Madrid trust me, Sonego played out of his mind.

Thiem needs match play, and people forget much like Nadal at RG he gets a little boost. His heavy FH takes off the clay better and he can return better as RG is slower and less server friendly.

Shapovalov’s game style is not sustainable over best of 5. Last year he played amazing Rome and then lost in 5 to Carballes Baena at RG.
I know. But against Nadal, it looked at times like he was trying to find the balance between when to go all out and when to stay in the rally... I know it's more wishful thinking than anything else. I really enjoy watching him play, and that match was a treat for me.

I think Djokovic deserves 2nd place over Tsitsipas right now, even if his Rome form proves to be false dawn, like in 2011, 15, 18.

Djokovic and Tsitsipas are tied for me. The reason I am saying that is Tsitsipas was a hair away from beating him in Rome and actually made him sweat after going 0-2 last year.

Mine list:

God Tier
1.Nadal

Plate Tier
2.Djokovic
3.Zverev
4.Tsitsipas

Good Tier
5.Rublev
6.Berrettini

Decent Tier
7.Ruud
8.Sinner

Dark Horse Tier
9.Schwartzman
10.Carreno Busta

Tsitsipas was a hair away from beating him in straight sets 6-4 6-2 but ended up getting pistolwhipped in 3 sets roflmao what a mug

To me the top six is pretty straight forward outside of the fact that I’m putting Thiem there based on his clay potential rather than the way he is playing:

1. Nadal

2. Tsitsipas

3. Zverev

4. Djokovic

5. Rublev

6. Thiem

The final four is certainly flexible and with more clay court tournaments in progress before Roland Garros could certainly shake up:

7. Sinner

8. Schwartzmann

9. Sonego

10. Basilashvili

Honorable mention:

Ruud

Garin

Here are my French Open power rankings:

The guy on the left has a 98% chance of winning the title and the guy on the right has a 2% chance of winning it. There is a 0% chance for anyone else winning it. And that’s the literal truth.

Agree with all the Top 4
I would move Sinner up to "Good Tier" (he played a solid match against Rafa in Rome and is capable of murdering the ball)
Thiem in "Decent Tier" - never know what kind of form he can pull out at RG
And add Karatsev to the "Dark Horse Tier"

Inspired by Jannik Sinner's wholesome restaurant analogies, I've split up players by their role in the Roland Garros kitchen:

Executive Chef Tier: Nadal
Head Chef Tier: Djokovic
Head Chef Emeritus Tier: Federer, Wawrinka
Sous Chef Tier: Thiem, Zverev, Tsitsipas
Station Chef Tier: Rublev (butcher), Berrettini (roasts), Ruud (fish), Sinner (legumes), Sonego (sauté)
Commis Tier: Karatsev, Shapovalov, Garin, Schwartzman, Carreño Busta
Porter Tier: Musetti, Alcaraz, Auger-Aliassime, Korda
Server Tier: Opelka, Isner, Raonic (note: Kyrgios was offered this position, but declined it in order to watch the NBA playoffs)
Art and Decor Tier: Medvedev

Djokovic
Thiem
Tsitsipas

Zverev
So basically Thiem is in the top 3 for the things he’s done 2 years ago, right? Hasn’t scored a good clay win since beating Djokovic at RG, and lost to Mager, Schwartzman (BO5), Zverev and Sonego.

He's top-3 IMO because his highest level, if he can reach it again, is the highest non-Nadal level on the tour. So he is a wildcard of sorts, but a dangerous one.

I like how you didn’t mention "on clay". Sounds about right. :sneaky:

Best post in the thread.
I would put more like 67.5% Nadal and 32.5% Novak. 0% rest of the field.
