Your Second Favorite Player and Why?

A lot of the talk and discussion around this place is over whose favorite player is better than whose, but in the middle of all that I feel that we don't indicate as much how we feel about the rest of the field. So in this thread, talk all about your second favorite pro player on the tour.

Mine is Andy Murray, and during the 2012 USO I remember really wanting him to finally come through and get that monkey off his back. And I guess that I kept on supporting him after that ^^

Me too, and for the exact same reason! :)

Mine would be either Nadal or Federer. It's hard to choose between them.

Probably Raonic until Fed retires then he will be first. Purely because he is Canadian. Fed was second until ARod retired.

Delpo. He's funny, seems like a good guy, and is insanely talented. Unfortunately he's not at his best all that often, but when he is, he is dangerous and very fun to watch.

It's a toss up among Murray, Gasquet, Delpo, Tsonga, Monfils and Ferrer and Nishikori. Why ? I like all their personalities plus Murray's a Brit and i'm partly Brit, and like his arsenal of tennis abilities; Delpo for his fire power and he's able to challenge the Big 4 --same with LeMonf/Tsonga; Gasquet for his bh and flare; and Ferrer, the underdog of the Alpha Dogs, for his terrier like attitude

For me, it's Rod Laver. He was a perfect player to have in 1968 with the dawn of the Open Era. He was a player with great skills from all parts of the court. He had such a complete and cool looking game! He had easy power and infinite variety. I never got to see him play, but have tried to learn all I can about him as a player and person. He's been wonderful for tennis.

whats the meaning of monkey off my back

Getting a monkey off your back means getting rid of a burden, problem, or bad habit. In Murray's case it was maintaining his mental strength under pressure and finally winning a slam.

Probably Nadal ..(my favourite player being :

)

Currently playing first is roger federer then richard gasquet second. I only like single backhand players so my options are not that great. I like powerful soild players that are mentally strong and don't bottle it against there rivals. Like Sampras and Lendl really and federer from 04-07.

Difficult for me Djokovic/Nadal/Del Potro/Fognini/Hewitt (Joint 2nd) behind Murray. I like the 2nd players as they're a mix of legends, inconsistency, fighting spirit and raw passion.

I'm also die hard fan of the 30+ players from my era late 90s/early 00s who are still active.
