Your sweet spot of swing weight and racquet weight

What have you found to be the "sweet spot" range of your racquet(s) swing weight and also actual racquet weight?
Thank you for your input.

NTRP 5.0-5.5 (estimate as I play/ live in germany and we do not have NTRP ratings)
static weight 350-370g
swingweight 330-350kg*cm²
Balance 7-9 Pts HL

At the moment, my preferred specs (all unstrung) are 320 grams, 31.0 cm balance, and 295 grams swing weight.

I am around 3.5-4, and prefer around 12 ounces, 4-6 pt headlight, 335 swingweight. I find heavier racquets help with more pace and spin provided I can wield them. If I am coming back to Tennis after a break, I take off a few grams. If I am comfortable and in the zone, I try to increase the mass/swingweight.

ideal specs

Level: 3.5/4.0 USTA singles player -- win almost all at 3.5, struggle at 4.0
SW: ~330
Static weight: 12 oz, possibly a bit over
Balance: 7+ points headlight

Playing with Volkl C10 Pro right now and it's right in the wheelhouse there, maybe slightly low SW, slightly higher static weight.

Also play with Extreme Pro IG 2.0, great SW, sometimes feels slightly under weight overall.

Would like to try a racquet that's spot on 330 SW, 12 oz strung with over grip, 7-8 pts HL.

Any suggestions?

Static weight: 325g strung+OG+damp.
SW: 330, more or less.
Balance: At least 5pts HL.
Doesn't leave too many brand new racquets left on the market since Bab drastically reduced the SW of their frames. About the SW value: I play extended length, which is why it's high compared to the static weight.
EDIT: It leaves the APD+ with 326SW and very few racquets I can have in Europe. I'd try PK if it was possible.

Check yours out to see exactly where it is and modify it to the specs you want if possible.

EDIT: If you put an overgrip on the Extreme Pro it would bring it right up to 12 oz. A little well placed weight may get that racket to the exact spec you're looking for it all depends on what your racket is now.

4.5, 58 yrs old, not sure of SW

coming to inclusion that 11-11.3 oz range and 4-7 pts HL is a good range for me, tried heavier recently (11.6 to 12) but while I felt I "hit" well my playing sets/matches results were not as good. One thing I have discovered recently is adding 3-6 grams to the 11-12:00 area in a racket of this weight range really helps my serve and does not hurt anything else.

Head Graphene Speed Pro. Ask tennis wharehouse to give you a typical spec. racquet. I have two like this.

Well thanks for the info, but I'm not in a hurry to drop my Pure Drive+ Cortex yet. :)

Probably sticking with these for a while, feels pretty good:
Approx 350g
Approx 330 SW
Approx 7 pts HL.

mine is around that now, though it used to be more. I once played with a 16+oz racket that had a sw of 405.

Strung specs:
- between 330 and 340 grams
- sw - between 330 and 340
- balance - somewhere in the 32.5 cm (+ - 3 mm) area.

As mass/sw goes up, balance must come down.
Current exact specs are in my signature.

Ah. I'm 34 yo, and would probably do well @ 4.5 level tournaments, and win some matches but get my ar$e kicked eventually at most 5.0 tournaments.
I don't live in the US so that's an approximation, but I have played people who lived (and played) in the States for years, so the approximation is pretty accurate ;).

315-320 SW. 330-340 static. 30-32cm balance.
I am 4.0 benchmark, trying play up at 4.5 and do okay in doubles but still losing in singles, all courter.

Oh wow.. I wonder what it feels like to swing a racquet that heavy.

I miss that racket! It was a bit slow but I added 25g to the butt and it was manageable. you could really let the racket do the work. I strung that as low as 15lbs in the mains

Pog mid and very headlight.

I hit a lot against the wall and IMHO if you can do that for an hour or more with a heavy racket then you are usually ok in a match

10.5 - 11 oz, even balance, swingweight around 300.

I was a 3.5 counter circa 2004 now a 3.0 pusher until I get back into shape. (I haven't played in 10 years until this fall.)

I am finding I like many of the lighter versions of players' racquets (Head 'S' Wilson 'L' and Lite by many). Less powerful end of the tweener spectrum I guess.

What are you trying to figure out here?
<96 sqinches
~350g
~330sw
~31cm balance
6'1" 200lbs
computer rated 4.0, club rated 4.5

~95 in^2
~10.5-11 oz
~320 SW
~0-3 Pts HL
5'10" 150lbs

I've been told that I'm somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4.0. I wouldn't know because I don't play tournaments. These specs are just a guess based on a customized Prince TT Bandit 95 that I use. It's pretty banged up and I should get something else, but haven't found a demo that I really like.

Prince og os 1977
370+grams
350+ swingweight
BBalupower 16l 62lbs
Lovely racket . Couldnt stand it without lead felt so unstable maybe because its an os but that 14grams of lead was a game changer, totaly new racket, more power/spin/pop and stability, swings easy through the air because of the design + my loopy technique, dont really know how the added sw brought about more spin but i feel like my shots dip alot more with the added weight? Hmmmm /:

I added silicone to the handle and lead at the throat of my racquet that original had a 330 swingweight and 340 static weight. The static weight is now 370 grams, anyone care to guess what the swingweight might be now? Is it possible it's only 340g?

40 g is a lot of weight to add in the handle and pulling it out will be a pain in the butt. But adding all that mass in the handle does little to increase SW.

I got these frames up to about 16+ ounces with just weight in the handle. The swingweight was about 310 before weight and about 310 after weight. But you could hit the ball with any part of the frame and you wouldn't feel anything. I eventually added lead at 3/9 to bring the swingweight up to something reasonable. Final weight was 17+ ounces.

Thank you for your input.
The COP (Center of Percussion) is calculated with this formula https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/calculating-cop.571447/#post-10683805
But just because the COP is located in the same spot on the racket does not mean 2 different rackets will feel the same. The area of 'sweetness' would be different dependant on the size of the head and how the weight was distributed.

I agree with that, but I have large strips of lead on the throat. It maneuvers like a dream. If you had to guess what the swing weight is?

Very hard to guess. My frames are 13.25 ounces, 386 swingweight. 15 grams of lead from 10 to 2. I'd guess that your swingweight was moderately lower than that.

I can do better than that, if you can give me the original balance, weight, and SW. I’ll also need the distance from the butt to the center of the lead and silicone, and the weight of each.
