Your tennis club experiences!

These are just some of mine, in no particular order (it's a long list.) There is a touch of bitterness from me here, apologies in advance.

-Lots of sex. There's women there who have slept with three or four of the guys and vise versa.

-Lock ins. There used to be late night lock ins where everyone would get drunk, play pool, get noisy and argue etc. Eventually the lock ins were banned when there was a fight which involved throat grabbing.

-Backstabbing. There's been numerous instances of backstabbing, such as a rigged captaincy vote which caused a big fight. The head coach was forced out by members plotting against him (largely out of jealousy because he was by far the best player and a successful coach.)

-Trips to Ireland. There used to be annual tennis trips to Ireland to play a tennis tournament there, the guys would down 20 cans of beer a day during the trip and try pulling Irish women. These were fun but on the last one i faced personal discrimination by the group because i don't enjoy drinking, more on that later.

-A dog. There's a big dog (whose actually a skinny dog who smokes) at the club. The last woman he pulled there he impregnated, stole 3 grand off her, and told her he was dumping her because of her young son (which traumatized her son.) Everyone knows what he's like, but at this type of club it's accepted.

-A ringleader. There's a arrogant, loudmouth guy there who manipulates people to win their favour and dominate the clique there. He acts nice when it suits him. Otherwise he doesn't say a word to you.

-Discrimination. Because i didn't fit in with the ringleaders vision, i got isolated. On that Irish trip i was blamed for the fact the other lads wouldn't speak to me (didn't help that i caught two of them with Irish women even though they had gf's back home.) The club president told me off for it. Some time later i publicly said he's an old douuchebag who the club would be better off without. Sometimes you gotta call a spade a spade.

-Thieves. I had my racquet stolen. I don't know who by but the club didn't care, just brushed it under the carpet. I was actually told it was my fault. I wrote on facebook for the thief to come and meet me face to face and see what happens, but so far they never have. I was not the only victim of thieves, money got stolen from the bar multiple times, eventually they had to install CCTV at the club.

-Ghosts. On two occasions while showering there, i have witnessed the changing rooms door open and close, completely by itself. Never seen anyone like that before or since but i think there's a ghost there.

-Members leaving. Things got so bad at the club a number of members quit, especially older members who'd been there for years. People would comment how bad the atmosphere at the club is. I also quit after having my racquet stolen, last straw for me.

That's a load of experiences i had there. What are yours? Have you ever seen such a soap opera at tennis?

1. There is a French guy in the club who is quite handsome and talks too much during games and sometimes moan and groan and would protest at bad calls very loudly (it sounds something like NONONONONONOOOON!!!). He often sings too during a game. Somebody told me he likes to steal the chocolate bars from the pro shop.

2. An old guy got his credit card stolen from his wallet. The cash were not taken. 13,000 bucks were spent by the thief though.

3. A bad tempered guy always curses and likes to smack balls across the net when he gets angry. Sometimes it hits other players' body parts instead of the fence. He is now banned permanently from playing at the club.

4. A very old man is one of the best coaches in the club. He often holds a private social tennis. One time towards the end of a match he said to a tired young man if he was alright or if he'd like a kiss.

5. One opponent told me to stop hitting topspin balls because he hates them. He and his mates always hit slice groundstrokes. They also told me not to hit dropshots. LMFAO.

6. I didn't witness this one, but one very old club member, who is a really nice guy, passed away during a match. They told me he got a heart attack. It was a very very sad news. He always helps others a lot with their life problems or with their tennis game.

I've seen door opens and closes on its own but usually because of air movement.

If I see a door knob turns on its own then I better run.

I've also seen that last one happen, heart attack. Sat down during the warm up, went purple, never got up. They couldn't save him :(

How can people who play slice tell you how to play? :D the last type of opponent anyone likes playing is a slice bot.

I used to play in a club in the early 80s and there was a good player there with a selection of good strokes but he was obsessed by Connors and come Wimbly time he would break out the T2000 and start hitting Jimbo style groundies and serve. This happened 3 years in a row and he left so not sure what he did elsewhere.

My nightmares:

-- one time they ran out of clean towels. Not a calamity as I generally have one in my car

-- lost to a pusher who called himself dgold44

It was r2473 trying to see if a Roman communal bath type situation was possible in the locker room

I always thought 'pulling chicks' meant simply 'getting them' as a prelude to hopefully 'scoring', as in pulling them out of a line or group as an approach, but some use it as a synonym of 'scoring'.

The other day the CD player in the club turned on by itself when I sat down on the sofa next to it

Just the other day a tennis ball was coming toward me and mysteriously my tennis racquet went out and returned the ball. Oh wait a minute, my hand was swinging the racquet.
