Your top 3 poly's...

1. Topspin CyberFlash 1.30
2. Prince Beast XP 1.30

CyberFlash is my main string and although I do like the Prince string it is close enough to CF that I can't justify the far higher cost.

Might as well bump my thread. I like sonic pro, but it breaks too quickly. I think I'm going to try some topspin and genesis strings soon and see if I like those...

I've got a new list of strings that I'll try when they come in. They are: Typhoon, Spin X, Black Magic, Hexonic, BAM, Big Ace, SPPP, Silver String, B5E, and Mosquito Bite...

Aren't those basically the same string? Not that there's anything wrong with that, just asking for verification.
Some say yes, others no. I haven't tried them, but to me Big Hitter Silver and Cyber Flash feel nothing alike. I liked BHS, and was somewhat underwhelmed by CF, after about 6 hours of hitting with it. That said, others will swear that they're the same string...

1. Alu Power
2. Alu Power Rough
3. Polystar Turbo
Curious. You chose the two most uncomfortable strings on the market, and then Turbo which is quite possibly the softest next to Energy (considering it's merely textured Energy). I can't see the same player liking ALU and anything Polystar. Interesting choices :)
Polystar Energy
SP Hyperion
WC Scorpion

(final answer) :D
This, on the other hand, makes sense. Three super soft polys, so the preference is obvious :)

Here's a question to all people who use Weiss Canon strings: what are your top three favorite? I'm currently interested in trying Silver String, Black5Edge Power, Mosquito Bite, Turbo Twist, and Scorpion, but I wanted to know what the general consensus was in regards to their best poly's...

my rankings for those (haven't hit mosquito bite)

1) Scorpion - it has pretty good bite and pop to it...really enjoy this crispy feel
2) Silver String - you can't go wrong with this stuff (although i feel like it can play better at slightly higher tensions)
3) Turbo Twist - it's been a while since i've hit this, but it was comfortable
4) B5E - kind of disappointing to me - didn't really do anything special IMO

Easy:

1. Scorpion 1.22
2. B5E
3. Turbotwist 1.18

Would it be worth it to give SS a shot? I thought that was their flagship string...
Without question give it a shot. SS is the least powerful of all 3 of those, and offers the least amount of spin. It's a great string if you love to volley because it offers a feel found nowhere else in the string market. I honestly believe that a modern serve and volleyer would use SS crosses strung low with gut mains because of it. I, however, am not a serve and volleyer. I will gladly attack the net with a vengeance if I get even a decent approach, but I don't spend my life up there. I've got a big serve and rely on it to set up points, but I tend to rely either on unreturned serves or putaways, in which silverstring is pretty useless to me. I'm pretty much the archetypal all-court player. Big spin off the forehand wing, big power off the backhand, love the net when the chance arises, and love serving most of all. However, Scorpion does that better for me than everything that they make.

SS sounds perfect for me then. I occasionally use gut and most of my experience with it, is with gut mains. I guess I'll pick up some SS, then too. I guess the better question is: what Weiss Canon strings should I avoid? Match Power was the only WC string I've ever tried and I thought that it was pretty good, though I assume these are better...

so far looks like alu rough is the most favorited
mine would be
bbo rough(have yet to try alu version, though i got 4 packs ready to be open but just got a bunch of strings)

truthfully luxilon big banger original rough is the only poly that i tried and liked. i have tried babolat pht and pro hurricane, rpm blast, and ummm prince 3d hybrid. i tried many other types of strings but they were nylons.

polies that i own and have yet to try are alien tennis strings, prince beast, and alu rough. so hopefully i can add these to to the list one day.

1. Black Code 17
2. Sonic Pro 17
3. ?????? Currently switching from multi to poly so only tried a few so far, these were the two I really enjoyed.

I'm wondering about the PolyFibre TCS, a lot of the TW play testers like it but I havent really seen in on the forums. I do want to try the Black Venom as well.
Black venom is good as is Black5Rdeg from Weiss cannon:)

Lots of love here for Pro Line II and Sonic Pro…I realize Sonic Pro is considerably softer, but if you've played with both, how do they compare in terms of control, power, spin, and tension maintenance? thanks

Okay, here's another open ended question for you all: in your opinion what is your favorite strings from: Genesis, Signum Pro, and Weiss Canon. My favorite from I haven't hit with Genesis strings in a while, but I liked Hexonic. My favorite Signum Pro string would be SPPP, and I have only tried Match Power from Weiss Canon. So I was curious to know from those of you who had tried those three brands to name your favorites...

Why typhoon blue over over gray? People seem to generally like the gray better. I have 2 sets of each and should they be strung differently due to any differences between them

I find that the blue has far more feel than the blue. Typhoon is pretty much a baseliner's string, and I'm not a baseliner :)

I would prefer Black Code over RPM, Black Code lasted longer for me. And I liked Pro Hurricane over Pro Hurricane Tour, because the Tour was too stiff...

My Favorite Soft Poly Textured Blacks:
1. Black Widow (Perhaps the Best Spin String of All... Oh, when fresh that is)
2. Black Code 17 (Perfect Power and Spin.. and lasts a long time)
3. RPM Blast 17 (Unique Elasticity and Feel... and at the right tension it becomes a comfortable spin machine)

Special Honorary Mention:
* ALU Rough (Great Spin, Power and Control... in the right racquet, at the right tension, otherwise it is an arm killer!)

I'm curious about Dunlop Black Widow, which nobody has listed yet. It that because it's a relatively new string and people haven't tried it? Or have people tried it and prefer the strings listed here instead? General thoughts/comparisons would be much appreciated.
One of my favorites... However, BobFL has a point about the tension loss.. however, if you string the Black Window strings about 3lbs higher than normal polys... you may find that the string settles down quite nicely... That being said, I think the real issue is that the "edges" of the string will wear down somewhat after while of hard tennis play... but even with the wear, it still plays very well and extremely comfortable. I currently use this string in my new Black 99 Donnay racquets (at 52lbs in a full bed setup... will go 53 or 54 next time) and absolutely love it!

What tension did you string it at and is that your normal tension for other polys since it was rated as the softest on RSI index?
For Black Widow, go 3-4lbs higher than the other polys.

Anyone what would you recommend I currently use black code and used red code in the past found the black code had a bit more power and more spin both great durability, my black code just went dead string at 55 thinking in going down to 52 - 54 Thanks

RPM vs Black Code

Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour vs Babolat Pro Hurricane

Thank you
It is hard to suggest an exact tension for you... it depends on your level, style and particular racquet. I have found that a low powered racquet with a closed string pattern will allow for tensions as low as 46 or 48lbs... but, if the racquet is a higher powered racquet with a open string pattern, you may not want to string much lower than 50-52lbs with a full bed... depending on the racquet, more than likely, a solid club player is going to find that 52-54lbs is a much better tension level for him than 55-56lbs with a full bed... but you will have to try it out for yourself.

Regarding the "RPM vs Black Code" question... string the RPM 2lbs higher than the BC because the RPM is more elastic and will lose a little more tension when settling down. Generally, I prefer the BC but once again, it depends on the racquet, the application and the preference of the player.
