Your US Open predictions (Champions, dark horses, disappointing players)

Thought we could give this a go.
Who do you think will win the titles (men and women)
Who do you think is a dark horse and/or will have a surprise run (e.g. like Pouille at Wimbledon, Konta at Aus Open, Ramos at French Open).
Who do you think will have a bad USO and lose early?

Common themes amongst the experts:
Murray has a great shot at winning, Djokovic not heavily favoured
DelPo, Cilic, Dimitrov and Puig are dark horses.
Radwanska and Wawrinka will do badly

Despite his recent surge in form, Dimitrov is well on his way to disappointing everyone once again.

In that sense, he delivers pretty consistently.

Hopefully he'll string a couple of good matches this time.

The field will disappoint as usual and we will all be subjected to another Murrovic Final. Djokovic winning of course. In 4.

What do you mean by "dark" horse? In today's society would should move on from such racial terms.

Im going with fritz to make the most noise, homecooking.

Murray to win it, just lost a match, has the fire back.

The women are always unpredictable. Gotta go with serena after what happened last year. She took time off for this, also coming off a loss.

You cannot be serious. Lightness, darkness, dark matter, it is especially terms like this that keep us out of the SHADE, you see?!! Dark Horse--Black Beauty etc.

Even Racial terms can be beautiful, unless you abuse them, and taint them. But among balanced people differences of all kinds make for what is called Life, in all its Diversity. Using those words to describe differences is indeed a must, else you lose the power to express precisely; what you mean, what you see, hear, every experience from the senses.

I am wondering where you are from, because this is rather disgustingly restrictive and ill conceived at that.

Wawa will do well, but I hope we see a fresh face in the final, versus either Djoko or Murray, because it is hard to see any of those two absent from a USO Final.

Thiem, Raonic will be there, Dimitrov has the chance to shake off the cinci choke, Cilic is there, Kyrgios might upset one or two in an earlier round.

It's a pathetic troll, just ignore it.

Delpo 2016. Need I say more? :D

No, not really. I love Delpo and his play is magnificent, but do you realise that to make the final, he has to play 6 matches over best of five??

Personally, I'd love to see DP rip open the entire field and dance away with the trophy all the way to Tandil.

Djokovic's ambitions be damned, for once.

Sorry, but Chadillac was not a member of my iggy list, for a few reasons. That is why I did not get the statement coming from him/her.

Glad to have made the club. I laugh at you because you didnt make it past the first part, nothing about my predictions? Guppy ate the worm and was so excited he didnt see the hook :p

Why did you have to include pathetic? Troll alone isnt sufficient? Perhaps you should ignore, its half the content in your "what do you think" post about an article...

I think that it's going to be pretty open this year. Djokovic isn't exactly in his best form, so could potentially suffer a relatively early defeat. Murray is the favourite and is in his best ever form, but I'd still put a question mark over him, just look at his loss to Anderson last year. Nadal will probably make the quarters, Wawrinka could make the semis. I think Raonic will suffer a first week loss. I think Delpo will go far into the second week, Cilic will possibly even make the final, Dimitrov will make the quarters. I think Isner will make it deep this year, I think he'll be serving well.

I was not excited the least, and did see the "hook" captain racial bastardation

Diversion; why not address the part that mattered?

I addressed the "prediction" part if you will, in a subsequent post.

What do we have here then, a coward?, bringing up racial correctness in a weird way and not respond to a critical response and condemnation?

Yes, and Yes.

Oh, and are Dark Horse, and Underdog, and a host of others, racial terms? No they are not.

You had not yet made it to my club, but your entrance into is Nathaniel Near.

Nice game you play, keep it up, and you will be TT's next success story. I should have caught on to the Fritz troll, but didn't - another opp gone bye.

Not looking forward to a Murrovic final. Tennis sleeps, but a Murray win will at least present ND with a rival from his own generation.

Very excite about Cilic and Del Potro :)

Hope Monfils, Brown, Zverev, Dimitrov, Nishikori can produce something.
Stan looks like he has lost his inspiration.

Can Delpo get a draw of MUGS and walking byes pls. None of this taking on the world #1 first round. :D QF showing or better would make my year.

Simon is on a serious downward slope and could get knocked out by anyone.

Would like Monfils to carry on his run of good form.

Youngsters please do something - I want Kyrgios to show some commitment and motivation and play his arse off rather than tank when he feels like it. Fritz.... could use a couple of wins as he's stagnated recently. Can Zverev put in a good showing?

Cilic must be feeling positive and confident right now, will that translate into his play? If on, he could GOAT his way to the title again.

What is the deal with Novak??

I'm excitimatated.

Thought more people would post their picks for a good run and a dissapointing run, more like a Murray/Novak discussion again :(

Anyway, my picks for the men.

I think Kyrgios will have a great run. He's never lost to a player at a slam ranked lower than himself and also has never lost to an unseeded player at a slam. Coming off a title run in Atlanta, can definitely see him going deep. Also think Tomic has a shot at going far (i'm biased I know). Comes off a QF run in Cincinnati defeating top 15 player Goffin and top 10 player Nishikori. He's won the juniour US Open so a deep run could be on the cards. DelPo is a huge threat, if he's feeling 100% then I could see him go deep or hell, even win the thing! Dimitrov is another who's a chance if he works really hard.

Will be interesting what player will have a breakthrough. Wimbledon we had Pouille and Querrey into the QF. French we had Ramos into the QF.

Potential disappointing players. Can see Steve Johnson failing, he became the top American last week but he's so on and off that you never know. Stan as well, looked bad in Cincy last week, missed Rio as well. Dominic Thiem hasn't won back to back matches since Halle and also hasn't defeated a top 30 player since Halle.

Djokovic will win. I promise you.
Murray will make the final, and will beat anyone not named Djokovic (60-40 against Novak).

We have not seen Djokovic since FO, so, we do not know how is that going to go. If he's motivated again and injury free, it will be as expected.

Good god must everything be about the big 4? When I said dark horse I meant like unseeded players not bloody Djokovic or Nadal.

Could see Greg make a splash again, go deep with the right draw, maybe even take out some bigger name(s). Then again, I could also see him have a temporary lapse and go down early. Would love for the former to happen tho.

Could see Gael get cooking if he's healthy, but it seemed he got injured again, so I remain skeptical.

Thiem too is a wildcard at this point. Good enough to make a quarter, but perhaps a bit down on form at the moment.

Oh, and watch out for Fritz. Could be a nasty draw if a top player draws him in the first round and turns it on for his home crowd.

I'm thinking Delpo won't go very deep this time, sadly.

RAFA to make at least the semi. Book it:eek:

For the title? It's clearly Noel and Murray right in his heels (and no, Murray's still not the favorite over Noel). God I hope we avoid that final tho.

I'd enjoy another 4 set Djoko win over Murray with the 1st 2 sets split, some vague hope for Muzziah, then Djokovic slowly choking the life out of the match, fans, and posters here. I would enjoy reading the bitter posts about weak era.

In other news, Fedr, the renowned masochist, made it known that he's pulling for RAFA for the title. Noch einmal, herr Rogerer.

Djokerbot fans, yet again, are not hoping for the success of Djokovic, but more so the sadness of his opponents' fans.

Not surprised, because what is there to actually like about Djokovic himself? Anyone can put a brick wall on the other side.
