Youtek IG Prestige Pro replacement

Love the IGPP, but it hurts my elbow. Had a 3 week dating period with the Wilson Blade 98 18x20, but today returned to the IGPP. Had both the IGPP and the Blade strung with the same strings, to see which I liked better. Like the IGPP more, but after 30 min of hitting my elbow already hurt. I played 3 weeks with the Blade and my elbow did not hurt. Just can't fall in love with that stick.

Wilson's have never hurt my elbow, so is there a Wilson racquet that is VERY similar to the IGPP?

RF97, Prostaff 97, 6.1 95 all seem too powerful.
Maybe the Prostaff 95? But it is lacking mass and the swing weight is so low. I'll have to put a truckload of lead on it.
My IGPP had about 4.5 grams of lead around 10 & 2.

Any help or recommendations are appreciated. Hate breaking up with my IGPP, but not worth the pain.

Have you tried the IG PMP? Still enough mass and way more flexible at 62 RA.
FYI, I used to use the IGPP and thought it was quite stiff too.

Am only interested in the 16x19 string pattern.

BUT... I heard the Microgel Prestige Pro is much more comfortable. Anyone know about this for sure?

What is your string set up?

Mains: 17G Tour Bite Soft 54lbs
Crosses: Prince Premier Control 56 lbs

I play these strings in the Blade and have no pain at all.

Thanks for the replies guys. More welcome!

I didn't add any lead and when I played with a stiffer poly above 50 lbs I found at times the IGPP was too firm. If I kept to a softer poly or a multi and played between 48-50 lbs the racquet played much softer and was very comfortable with a much larger sweet spot. I think Spin-to-win talked about this racquet in his customization thread and recommended against leading this racquet in the hoop because it made the frame quite jarring.

I switched form the IG Prestige Pro to the Pro Staff 95. I can highly recommend the switch and if you need help at customizing the racquet, you can use my customization thread as guidance and ask me if you need anything else :)

Why would you switch from the IGPP? I've been playing with them for the last 4 months, and I love them - can't fault them in any way.

Yes I do. Tried both, bought Microgel Prestige Pro, feels crisp but arm friendly.
There are still some left at the big auction site from authorized reseller ;)

Agree that Prostaff 95 may be worth trying. I was tinkering around with a Prostaff 95 for a while (before settling on a Prince Response 97) and would say that just the same amount of lead as you put on your IGPP, or maybe 6 g, does a whole lot for this racquet.

I had similar issues with the Prestige YouTek IG Pro.

I have now settled on the T-Fight 315 Ltd. 16M. It needs (a lot of) lead. I also liked the Babolat Pure Control Tour (though the feeling is much more muted than that of the Prestige). None of the Volkl's did it for me.

Have you tried the 6.1 95 16x18?

Of the following frames I own: IGPP, GPP, PS95s, 6.1 95 16x18, 6.1 95s - I feel the 6.1 95 16x18 is closest to the IGPP, which I have leaded up at 6&9 and 12, about 5-7 g iirc. The 6.1 95 16x18 feels supersolid in stock form. Mine weighs 352 g strung (357 w/OG and dampener) but does not feel sluggish. I haven't tried the reg PS 95, but the PS95s is both the most precise frame I've hit so far and seriously underpowered in stock form.

Stock weight frame and Tour Bite might be the problem. Add two grams of lead each at 3 and 9 and use a softer poly strung in the upper 40's. If you do this, the IGPP will shine like a star guaranteed. I've been playing with them for three years now and have tried all kinds of customizing. That's the set up I use and I love it. And I even tore tissue in my shoulder a few years back.

Thanks for the replies.

I usually steer clear of any tension below 53. Way too much trampoline effect for me. I'm either not good enough to control the loose strings, or the heavy hitters I play just enjoy hitting off of that bouncy set up.

Tour Bite SOFT 17G in other frames does not hurt my elbow. Plus, I hybrid it with Prince Premier Control which is super soft. I know it is the frame. The IGPP has LOADS of vibration on off center shots. I can feel it vibrate through my arm.

I love this stick, but I must switch due to the arm pain. Considering the Prostaff 95, Prince Classic Response 97, and maybe the C10 Pro.

Do you have a link to your customization link?
Why did you switch?
Is it possible to get some power out of the PS 95 by adding lead?
I have lots of questions for you SpinToWin, my apologies! :-)

Use the advanced search function in the Racquets forum and search for threads posted by me. You should find my thread there.

For you it makes sense to not use a leather grip (amplifies vibrations) in which case it's possible to make the racquet similarly powerful to the IG PP at a similar weight (though the PS 95 offers an easier access to spin and it is possible to make it play more powerful, at least IMO). I switched because the Pro Staff added more spin and margin to my game, which let me modify it to become more powerful than the Prestige without losing control. The racquet also felt more comfortable than the Prestige, which would get to me on cold days.

Where and how many grams of lead have you putted there?

I have been experimenting a lot and haven't found the perfect setup, yet. However, all my experiments have been in the 360-370g range. I don't have the exact number, but I think the racquet was about 340g with Fairway leather, OG, and strung with Gut/Poly. So, yeah, I am adding 20-30g.

Below 360g I don't like it at all: no power and unstable.

I just can't play with it this frame without lead at 3 and 9. It's way too unstable (I hit a big flat forehand and a 1HBH). I have tried various setups with lead at 12 and it just didn't work for me.

Today, I played with a 370g with about 20g at 12. Didn't like it due to lack of stability. But it was nice in terms of power.

Wow. Are you regretting getting these sticks? I can't help but think that if it needs that much modification, it wasn't the right stick in the first place?

If you already love how your IGPP feels, I would recommend making mods to it before switching. Some ideas:
1. You currently add lead at 10 and 2, you said. Try spreading out the lead to a larger area around 3 and 9. Say from 8 o clock to 10 o clock. Localized weights and closer to 12 o clock feel more jarring.
2. Swap out the leather for a cushier grip. Also you can add blu tack to the handle. That takes away a lot of vibrations
3. Go down on string gauge and/or tension

No regrets. I was well aware of the fact fact that the T-Fight 315 Ltd. is a platform stick (some forum members compared it to Head Pro Stock frames). So, the modifications aren't meant to fix something that's wrong with the racquet, as there really is nothing wrong with it. It's made for lead. In addition, I very much enjoy tinkering with racquets :)

Also, this stick uses Head pallets, which is a huge plus for me, as I have already swapped the default pallets with TK82S.

The only current frames that I can use with no or very little modification are the RF97 and the Pure Control Tour (sadly, the former is too stiff for me). And I have tried most player's sticks out there.

I made the switch from the old ProStaff 7.5 last year. After I demoed many racquets and getting a lot of advice here, I ended up modifying two ProStaff 95 racquets. Here is my original thread: http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=493855.

The Pro Staff 7.5 felt more like a hockey stick than a baseball bat. If my footwork was slow or my timing was off on a two-handed backhand, I had a lot of trouble generating depth and power. With the 6.1 95, a half-swing on the backhand side was a solid stroke, but I had problems taking a full swing at the ball without sailing the ball three feet beyond the baseline.

The modified PS95 allows me to take a full cut at the ball and gives me a little more margin for error on the backhand side. Even though I didn’t opt with the P95S, I feel I can still generate enough spin to create angles from the middle of the court with the PS95.
