Youtek Prestige MP string set up or racquet vs say a BLX??

snr

Semi-Pro
Hey guys,

I am currently using a MG Prestige Pro strung with Alu Rough

I love it but need a second racquet. Since this is my first time going for two racquets I figure instead of grabbing another Prestige, i'm gonna try another racquet an "upgrade" and then grab a second of whatever stick I end up preferring (MG prestige pro, or the new one and sell the other or whatever)

Anyhow I took the new Youtek MP (can't find the Pro in my area), for a demo last week but it had the default strings so I couldn't really get too much a feel. yesterday while taking a BLX 95 16x18 (strung with Alu Rough/Syn), I noticed they had a Youtek Prestige MP with Sonic Pro/PPS so I took that out as well.

I hit a heavy forehand (not the quickest, but a lot of spin with pace)
I love the BLX but I wonder if the stiffness will get to me eventually... the ball i hit was good and heavy like the MG prestige pro.

While the person hitting against me said that the ball seemed as heavy but was just at times short, I found the ball to not be as "heavy". more like I choose between the heavy spin or to hit through it, and while it was fast didn't have the spin and pace combo...

Is it just a stringing issue on the Prestige MP to rectify this issue? Or should I consider the BLX? (Which i really do like and will hit with it again.)

Thanks!

The Youtek Prestige MP has alot of feel but it will take a bit of time for it to settle in, also the strings do matter. The BLX is lot stiffer compared to the YT and can be more demanding.

tennisplayer...which stick do you believe to have the better control? I just switched from the Microgel to the Youtek, but I might end switching back. I honestly believe the Microgel has better control, and this is what I was looking forward to the most in addition to its added power, but I believe power is the only place where the Youtek wins.

I purchased the youtek prestige MP a couple of weeks ago and strung it with a full poly setup, i guess i just was not that impressed so i restrung it with a hybrid Klip natural gut in the mains and tecnifibre multifeel in the crosses, turns out it is a completely different racquet, then i added some lead in at 6 and 9 and a bit in the handle and now i am loving it. I think what makes the most difference is the Natural gut this racquet is made for it.

True. A LOT stiffer though even for the 3 rating?

And just want to know what you mean by demanding, "game" demanding, or physical? Mainly i just donno how it'll feel in long run on the arm but no issues so far.

Do you think that the lead is why I have no "heavy ball" on the MP? Mind you the demo I'm using is only syntehtic gut but I don't know if natural gut will really add that much more heavyness. Again I'm coming from a full poly setup too lol.

Starting to think with the amount of work I gotta do to get the MP up to par the BLX is already nice off the shelf.. just hope it doesn't hurt physically? LOL.

correction, lead at 3 and 9 i am 90 degrees dyslexic

I have hit with the kFactor 6.1, babolat pure drives, mg prestige mp and pro and so far my favorite is the Youtek. I think the mg prestige mp and yt mp are pretty even control wise. For some reason, i enjoyed hitting with the Yt more and was hitting better shots, this might just be me.

Yes the BLX rackets will probably be alot more stiffer if its anything like the old kfactors 6.1s. I havnt actually hit with the BLX so dont take my word for it, but based on my experiences with the kfactors, they are much stiffer and caused me some wrist injuries.

by demanding i mean physically demanding, if you play long sets, it will probably be harder to swing as fast with the blx compared with the youtek

regrading the lead, i hit a decently heavy shot without any lead; i personally dont bother modifying my rackets, mostly because i'm too lazy lol

Hmm, I see
I'll give the youtek the try again.

To be honest, I LIKE the BLX better, but I feel like the Youtek is the smarter choice..avoid injury etc.

Maybe the fact that the youtek MP is strung at the same tension @ 58 could be a factor, maybe dropping a few will help.

Again i don't have too much time/room as these are just demos so I guess I gotta make the decision soon. Next time I hit at least I'll be able to analyze a bit better as I know what to expect.

If you like the BLX you should go for it. The Youteks arent for everybody; dont just take my word haha. I've learned the hard way that how you feel about a racket is alot more important then what others say or what is the "smart choice"

Tis true lol. All about injury avoidance haha. Nervous about the stiffness though no issues so far.

You're right youteks aren't for everyone but I did love my MG prestige pro. If only I could find a youtek prestige pro demo. Flat balls w/ directional control are awesome with the closed pattern but that's just not the forehand.

Thanks for the feedback though guys, gonna see if I can find a pro to demo and if not will habe some thinking to do. Heck, might just get another MG prestige pro and call it a day lol.
