Ytex Hexagon X

Anyone have any experience with this string? I can't find much information on it outside of review on Ytex's website (unsurprisingly positive).

Ytex bills it as having more durability/control and less power relative to Square X, which sounds glorious if true.

It's not my cup of tea. I got a sample set of the black Hexagon X and strung it up in a TF DC305 at 50 pounds even.

It's soft. Really soft, for me, too soft. I couldn't feel or control the ball and shots were launching on me. I'd take Quatro Twist or Square X over it.

Thanks for the insight! Sounds like it would be too soft for my 16x19 ASL2. I really like Square X so that’s a shame.

Hexagon-X begs to be strung at low tensions. I like most poly's at around 50-52lbs in my Pro Staff 97's. I first tried it at 52lbs and hated it. Then dropped the tension 10lbs I really enjoyed it down at 42lbs. It doesn't feel soft during stringing but it plays soft but still has a nice crisp feel to me. Not gummy like other soft poly's.

Extreme 360mp, I tried 48lb main, 46 cross with pros pro blackout. Has crisp feel, control and power. Next I testing with clash 100 pro, 48/46lb. I will update.

My only Ytex reference point is square x, which I really enjoy. How would you compare the two?

What were the edges like on Square X? On the packaging photo they seem rounded like Tecnifibre 4S, not sharp like Ultra Cable.

It’s been awhile since I’ve used Square-X but edges are definitely more rounded than Ultra Cable. I have 4S but haven’t used it yet so can’t help there.

Overall I really liked Square-X—just a bit too juicy for the pure strike I was using at the time. I will probably try it again in my K7 Lime at some point (along with hexagon X) as I anticipate that would be a better fit.

Clash pro with hexagon-x pearl red, has control, spin and power, I felt feel is lacking a bit. 48lb / 46lb full bed. Lot of people has reviewed this string and mentioned in ytex user group and site, on day2 the string played better. I feel the same way. Day1: I played indoor with heat may be 50f, Day2: I played outdoor 40f. I had more control and precise drops on doubles. I had good feel as well. In winter I play only doubles. Hope this helps. If you have arm problem, I would definitely recommend trying this string out. In hybrid, I would say on the main and any round poly cross. SquareX I liked as Cross as well. For sure this one plays better at lower tension. Goodluck.

@topspn - I'm sure you're referenced your take-aways elsewhere, but what ever came of your trialing of YTEX, Mayami and Toroline. Did you have a general favorite between the three, or a mix of favorite strings from amongst them? Thanks in advance.

Hexagon X is an average string. Tier One Black Knight is a better option.

Quadro Twist and Penta Power Twisted have been the best of the Ytex line in my experience.

Yeah, YTEX still favor quadro twist the most out of all their strings. Mayami my two favorite are Big spin and tour hex. Torline caviar is a pretty nice control string. These are my recommendation of what to try from each
