Haha, I see Gulbis can have his sweet revenge on my man Andreev here and I don't like Igor's chances in this draw somehow. I'd say Cilic has a nice shot at winning it.

Gulbis has to get past Tursunov first (was there any doubt he'll draw him from the four possible qualifiers :D). That said, Dima seems in poor form and he should go through.
I was really looking forward to seeing Youzhny live, but he lost already to Gabashvili :x Not a good start of the season for Misha

Voted for Cilic for the title but rooting for Ancic(unlikely I know)to win his first title since 2006.

He has a shot at the final. I see only Gulbis as possibly being a major problem. Karlovic is on the other side of the draw, he could always upset anyone on this surface in best of three, but I'd be willing to bet someone will take him out before the final, Cilic if no one else. Ljubo is not his cup of tea either, but he's also in Marin's half.

Tars, I'm not sure what you men Igor was doing, it was too early for me to get there, but sorry to say he lost to Dodig. I'm shocked.

Mario uses the SP against Lacko with a big second serve,6-4.Looks in good form, serve was really clicking in that first set(I don't think he lost a point on first serve).

Yeah,he does seem to have a nice draw so who knows. It would be good for his confidence to win a title after such a long time.

Ancic breaks at the start of the second set with a nice inside out FH.The way he's serving at the moment, this should be enough for him to win the match.

BP for Lacko.Saves it with an ace.

Another BP.And Lacko breaks after a FH UFE from Mario.

LOL that's funny... As I said I didn't like his draw, frankly I didn't even look past 2nd round because I had an instant feeling that he was going to pack his bags right away when I saw him seeded 1st. Is this thing called intuition? :)
Let's think he didn't want to face Gulbis again and tanked it (so as to save his face in his loss to a qualifier :) )

Lacko takes the second set after a FH UFE from Mario.Lacko was reading Ancic's serve a bit better in the second set but I still feel Mario wasted a good chance,he paid the prace for that shaky service game in which he made a DBF,he was a break up.

4-4,2 BPs remaining for Lacko,c'mon Mario, don't lose like this.

Now that's what I call a kick serve! Only one remains.

And another great kicker! All 3 saved, deuce.

A 203 km/h down the T bomb to get a GP.And he holds with a nice CC FH winner. That was one clutch hold from Mario.

Great BH return winner to earn a MP.

And he wins! Good match,Mario could have ended this much earlier(in the second set)but glad that he came through today.

Everyone had a little trouble, huh? Can't believe Andreev lost.

Me neither, Dodig is not someone who has anything to trouble him and he's not someone who typically has bouts of UEs to give a match away. I was looking forward to another Andreev-Gulbis match.

Mario decided to give us a thriller, presumably because until the second half of the second set I was thinking to myself "this is boring, a good practice and that's it". Then just as I was about to go to Court 1 to catch Gulbis and Dima, he fell apart and lost the break advantage and Lacko started playing up to his potential. Mario's still far away from his form, but I'm hoping he'll benefit from a close match and gain some confidence.

Caught only the end of the Gulbis match in the end. It was the first time I saw him live and the boy is more than impressive. Pure pleasure. Hope Mario gets past Gabashvili and sets up a meeting with him in quarters, both for his own sake and Ernests' terrible H2H with Gaba :D

Think the first time I saw Gulbis was during Queens. He really could develop into something special.

Half the seeds are out by 2nd round :-? I was expecting Troicki to beat Bolelli and Zverev to have a chance against Seppi in his current form, Korolev against Melzer can also be understood, but Andreev

Betfair is investigating odd betting patterns during the first-round match between Guillermo Canas and wildcard Antonio Veic in Zagreb. Veic was a heavy underdog before the match, but then became the odds-on favorite despite losing the first set. He went on to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Betting on the match was not suspended, but Betfair has not released payments on wagers made. The betting exchange voided all bets placed on a second-round match between Nikolay Davydenko and Martin Vasallo Arguello at Sopot in 2007, triggering a match-fixing scare.

does anybody know why tursunov played the qualies ?
... by choice ? because he entered the tournament too late ?
(being ranked #30, he would have been seeded #5)

Should be a good match between the two instead of others matches:

Troicki vs Ljubicic

oh, yes, i'd really like to see that one.
another meeting of fire and ice?
when? ... i know ... check the oop ...

... it's "not before 1700h" and follows the Florent Serra/Marin Cilic match ... hmmmm i wouldn't think that one would take too long.

He entered too late, but they offered him a WC, which he refused, presumably to play some matches as he's been in pretty bad form lately. Not a very good choice since most of the options he would get for first round were pretty bad as qualfiier, but I assume he made the decision before the draw was made.

Congrats to Troicki, nice win for him although Ljubicic was spraying that FH all over the place yesterday.Still it wasn't a bad match and was pretty unpredictable until the very end.
