Heartwarming to hear this. I continue to hear other players said nice things about Zhang Shuai.

Never could understand those who said "just retire already!" to players who's on the decline but really passionate about continuing to play because they enjoy playing.

A long, painful storyline has turned i to a wonderful, 'feel-good' redemption arc. This, plus the outpouring of goodwill from her peers, has been wonderful to see.

She went into the 2016 Australian Open with a 0-14 record in grand slam main draw matches, and then reached the quarter-finals beating Halep and Keys along the way.

And she went into this tournament having lost 24 matches in a row, only to then win 8 consecutive sets including against the world no. 8. And Frech had won her last 7 matches, including her Guadalajara title run.
