Im not sure if people know what "tour finals" means, but for me its the biggest tournament of the year.

He beat Fed (was the real final) and djok on their best surfaces (6 wtfs each), what more needs to be proven?

No way, as you inadvertently could not spell his name correctly in the thread title, the guy lacks "brand recognition". Can't be #1.
I could never write Fredrerer for instance.

Congrats. A post where simply everything stated is wrong.

Did anyone notice that there were similarities with WTF 2015?
2018: Djokovic beat the winner of the tournament (Zverev) in the round robin stage, and lost to him in the final
2015: Federer beat the winner of the tournament (Djokovic) in the round robin stage, and lost to him in the final

Same with Becker in 1994 and 1996 and Agassi in 1999 (all against Sampras).

hype hype hype hype hype.

Stop the hype in an easy piece of cake BO3 format/round robbin.

Let him speak for his results in the GS and get out of his comfort zone of winning Masters 500/1,000's.

Until he proves me wrong and gets past the 2nd/3rd round in a major grand slam he's still hype.

Dimitrov won the WTF last year plus Cinci, which meant nothing for this year failure. Zerev should do better than Dimi did, but just winning the WTF does not make him the best player in 18. Novak won 2 slams, Zerev-0 and, therefore, is the #1 player for 2018.

I have never liked Zverev and still don't, but his performance at the YEC was impressive no matter which way you slice it. He has improved already under Lendl, going from 130 MPH first serves to 140+ and his FH has also gotten better really quickly. I don't think he'll win a slam in 2019, but barring injury, he'll be a looming factor in tennis. Hopefully Karen and Basilashvili will be in the mix and if Shapo ever gets his head and his game together, he should be a contender in 2-3 years.

Fedr already superior to Djoker because he won his 6th YEC at 30yo, while Djoker will still be chasing his 6th at 32yo.

This post could be from me. And this serve improvement is really huge, and possibly will be even better. 88% first serves in in the first set, and some have been 142 mph. If he will we able to maintain tis level over 3, 4 sets he will be nearly unbreakable, cause the rest of his game is very solid. If Karlovic and Isner hold over 90%, he can hold even over 95% then.

Not denying it as he did play some fine tennis, but people need to stop hyping him up until he proves his results where it counts

The biggest tournaments are the slams that are more demanding than the finals which Zverev has just won. The young man will have to prove he can play longer matches over two weeks period of time. This is what the current young ATP generation of players (and the previous one with the 22-30 year olds) has had the problem with so far.
