Zverev: 'I may become No. 1 at the end of season if I win all matches'

9th June 2019, Stuttgart : "I’m looking forward to the tournament here”. Asked when he could become the new world No. 1, Zverev, laughing, concluded: "At the end of this year, if I win all the matches I play..."

13th June 2019, Stuttgart: First match since the interview- Alexander Zverev lost his opening-round match in Stuttgart, to Dustin Brown, 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-3.

He couldn't have timed it better! But in his defense, he did lose to the GrassGoat Dustin Brown!

As a Zverev fan i wish him to retire. He tried to copy Djokovic and ended up only with the worst aspects of his game. His brother at least kept some dignity in his game even with less stellar results.

Dustin Brown has a lot of fans even if he not a top 10 player! Just his flash, style of play and general background is very enticing such as living in his car and hunting for food to eat because he had a daily budget.
Does the ATP allow pot use?

Dustin Brown is just great. I wish this forum would talk more about him than about Zverev.

Dustin actually has a pretty impressive record against top 10 ranked players with 5 wins, 12 losses (29.4%) considering his own ranking.
That's better than Alex De Minaur.

What sort of fan wants his player to retire at the ripe old age of 22 when his whole career is still ahead of him?

Do we now assume he won't become #1 at end of season?

Zed proving day in and day out that he is one of the most unlikable players in ATP history

May officially be worse than Andrew now

Dustin Brown's ATP record before his match with Z:
60–97

He just beat world #5 Z for his 61st win. Of the previous 60 wins, he had 2 against Nadl (2:0 vs. Nadl) :

Upset artist of the highest caliber.

Lol people cannot take a joke

Zverev working all you marks HARD

I love a good mock Zverev session as much as the next guy, but yeah he wasn't serious about winning all the matches. If anything it almost makes him more likable that he realizes how bad he is. I miss the days when Zverev carried himself like he was always Imaginary Peak Zverev out there on the court.

I don't know if people in this forum are really *that* stupid, or just pretend to be stupid.

What Z said was a joke. Nothing more. Even a 3 year old toddler could've get it. But sure, don't let that get in the way of your hate

Of course it was a joke. He has a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not sure why the bro's don't like him.

Imagine the folks on here when Zverev inevitably wins his first major.
