I'm really trying to get a sense of the public opinion regarding Zverev. It seems most of us here despise him now and his popularity seems to have taken a massive hit over the past 2 years.

I don't dislike him. I pity him.

I see why people dislike him, with the gold chains and the inauthentic alpha-male behavior.

But, I simply don't have any hatred to spare while Nadal and ********-19 are still playing. So he gets a pass.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to appreciate Zverev. His humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of his shot selection will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Alex's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his on-court celebrations- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these celebrations, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Zverev truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Zverev's existential catchphrase "THIS IS MY ******* COURT," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Sascha's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Zverev tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 500 TTW reaction points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid

Yes

And am I the only one who found it hilarious when he told Brad Gilbert he could hear every word he is saying? Lol. Brad Gilbert then says to the other commentators "I should charge him for tactics".

What the **** did you just ****ing say about Zverev, you little *****? I’ll have you know he graduated top of his class in the David Ferrer tennis academy, and he’s been involved in numerous secret raids in Melbourne and New York, and he has over 300 confirmed wins.He is trained in the art of chewing gold chains and he’s the top double-faulter in the entire ATP Tour. You are nothing to him but just another smashed racquet. He will wipe you the **** out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on the tennis court, mark my ****ing words. You think you can get away with saying that **** to him over the Internet? Think again, ****er. As we speak he is contacting his secret network of fans across Talk Tennis Warehouse and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re ****ing dead, kid. He can be anywhere, anytime, and he can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with his errant serves. Not only is he extensively trained in shanking rally balls 20 feet long, but he hasaccess to the entire arsenal of the International Tennis Federation and he will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little ****. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your ****ing tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. He will **** melted gold all over you and you will drown in it. You’re ****ing dead, kiddo.

I can't stand some of his antics but I definitely have some respect for the guy. Would be happy for him if he won a Slam.

I don‘t like him, because I think he‘s arrogant and a braggart.
This for example
There are many more interviews and stuff like that but also like at the current US open he was boasting about him hitting a new record for fastest seconde serve, even though his regular second serves are quite bad. Especially for him being so tall.
But altogether I‘m not a fan of those tall serve guys. I know he has more to offer but I still think he wouldn‘t be playing at the very top, if he was normal height.

i think its hilarious u guys talk **** about Zverev. u wouldn't say this **** to him on a tennis court, he's jacked, not only that but he wears the finest gold chains
Jacked yet still looks like his limbs are built out of empty toilet rolls.

and hangs out with the hottest dudes.
Oh yes, I'm so very jealous of that

I'm sure Zverev's fine in person, if you don't have to work with him, but he's got a habit of acting like a nob. It's not at all unusual for someone his age but he's unfortunate to be doing it publicly.

I'm open to giving him pass on the hair these days because Rublev's is worse and equally seems to be stuck in 2012.

I want him to succeed enough to the point where I can root against him without feeling like I'm picking on the weak kid.

The moment (if it ever comes) that he starts beating Djokodal in slams, folks will praise him except for the most devoted of haters.

This forum doesn’t mirror the real world though.
He is regarded as a good player, handsome as well. Looks like a model.
Sometimes I wonder if it’s out of jealousy some men don’t like him. Same as with Rafa, regarded as one of the hottest tennis players of all time, maybe the hottest, but in here is compared to a rodent and short men that likes to build muscles says he isn’t fit and strong. It’s so obvious where that comes from. I haven’t met a woman that doesn’t think he looks good.

I got to watch Zverev from the front row at his first Wimbledon and I came away with the same impression that I had of Andy Murray when he was the same age. To summarize, I observed that both were tall, rangy, talented, and looked like future Slam champions, but had very whiny demeanors on court that were hard to root for. As Murray matured and started winning epic matches, I became a fan. I suspect that I'll feel the same way about Zverev.

I was impressed with Zverev's win over Coric in the quarterfinals of the US Open the other day. He wasn't playing particularly well and was flat emotionally. He lost the first set and was down a break in the second set, but found a way to win. He wouldn't have done that in the past and I think he's improving.

All he needs to do is get with Adidas to create a shirt that is connected his shorts in the front and an oral surgeon to create a more stable setting for his mouth. Too active between points. Might need to try a nightguard.

Didn't liike him in the beginning, when he was 18/19. I warmed up to him a lot since then. Now he is one of my favorites. I like him better than Tsitsipas and Medvedev, for sure.

I have nothing against him personally but it's fun watching him lose. Watching Isner ace him to win the Miami Open was great fun.
