Assuming Rafa will retire by the end of the year or latest next year

Zverev should immediately beg before Nadal to train with him for the next few months...

Areas to work on

- Forehand
- Second Serve
- Mental toughness (very important)

If Rafa is retiring then why not coach Zverev until next year ?

Rafa does not have time for people like Zverev. I am sure he will be enjoying his tennis retirement life just like Roger.

Federer doesn't give a sh1t for anyone else but himself, however Nadal is into coaching youngsters. He'll probably not refuse if Zverev really wants to work with him, see until next year Nadal is on tour so he will have time. If I were Zverev then I would look in this direction... That forehand and his mindset in crunch situations really needs some ironing by a true champion...

Could Zverev roll with the No Jewelry policy at Nadal’s academy, though?

Lol

I doubt Rafa would be interested immediately post-retirement, and if/when he does become available, Zverev will be well past his peak anyway.

Those last 3 words speak volumes: “for his height”

I’d agree with your statement to an extent. However, given the premium on movement at the top of the game, which includes agility/quickness/ alacrity, his lateral movement while very good, as you say, “for his height” hurts him against the quickest in the top 10 or 20. Medvedev, like Jersey J. was, seems uncharacteristically agile for his height & a slightly better mover than Sasha but still can be exploited side to side, esp. after 3 hours in a long match. It’s just a long way down there when you’re 6’ 5”+.

I remember at IW one year around 2010, Milos Raonic was near the practice courts signing autographs. He happens to have unusually long legs compared to his torso length, but I kept thinking how hard it must be for these giants to keep up against world class movers.

Pls dont associate Nadal's name with a wife beater and a pathetic excuse for a human being. Some of us have not forgotten what Zverev has done in the past even if hes currently trying to clean up his image by good behaviour

Nonsense.

That 6'8 youngster Giovanni seems too good a mover for his height ...

Agreed--he is scum. That kind of behavior is not adopted, but a part of the person's character. Nadal had agents who would very likely advise him (not that he would need it in the case of Zverev) to stay as far away from Zverev as possible.

It does not matter; Nadal could be a poor coach, but he's still not going to associate with a violent offender. He would only soil his legacy and reputation.

Nadal's legacy is set in stone with 22 slams. It won't be affected even if he associates with the devil himself.... A person like Nadal is always known for his achievements and will be.

Great idea. Rafa is retiring but it will be decades before he can start receiving a Spanish pension. He’s got a young family to feed. I say go for it!

Associating with a violent offender would snuff out his tennis legacy, since said violent offender's act is a global problem dwarfing something like sports. Nadal does not need to destroy his life with that association. Moreover, there's no reason Nadal would even taken an interest in someone like Zverev. He would get absolutely nothing out that loser.

Ivanisevic should be the new coach by Zverev.
I think they could understand each other very well and the Croatian could help the German player achieve his long-awaited first GS title.

I truly do feel like Nadal should dissociate himself from zverev. Even as a big Nadal fan, many times he has not had the balls to take a stand for something. He's too PC

That's where his agents / management steps in; they know the value of their client and a strong, controversy-free client supports their own bottom-line. Its quite clear they would make sure Nadal does not attach himself to a violent offender such as Zverev, as there would be no excuse for that action.

I dont care about being whatever. I see an absolute pathetic excuse of a human being, I call him an absolute pathetic excuse of a human being. Facts are facts baby

Indeed.

Nadal shouldnt need his agents to tell him this. He doesnt have the guts to do this. It's simple. I say this as a big fan for almost 20 years. dude is as PC as they come, he doesnt have guts to take a stand on certain instances

Carlos should hire Vajda he moulded Novak into what he became , a aggressive Ballbasher to a baseline machine

Novak's main Guru is Becker himself, he is the person who made Novak win so many wimbledons, otherwise Federer would have still won wimbledons in 14-15 and Djokovic's aura on grass would never exist.

Liking that post just for calling my man Becker the real alpha.

Yes Becker definitely is the real alpha. He even blasted Zverev publicly sometime ago, Becker even took on Kyrgios on social media. Becker is not afraid of a fight no matter where it is. Becker also wanted to bring Federer down and could not do it as a player, so he took it upon him to coach someone and do it via him.

Yep. He also never surrendered on the court to anyone and always brought it to the big guys but at the same time wasn't too proud either to admit that Pete in the end got the better of him. Pete was an alpha in his own way.
