Zverev suspended for eight weeks, but not really

And also fined $25000. Don't know why it took so long, but good to see the ATP finally taking action.

But wait! He's just on probation! He gets no penalty as long as he does not commit another offense within the next year. That's my understanding from the press release.

What do people think? Personally I disapprove of the probation. Just hit him with the ban, he deserves it!

Didn't realize this had already been posted in this thread: https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/why-hasnt-zverev-been-suspended.721495/

Whoops. Here it is:
World No.3 receives eight-week suspension and additional fine of US$25,000, deferred across probation period.

However, the fine and suspension are withheld on the condition that, over a probation period ending 22 February 2023 (one year from the incident), the player does not incur a further Code Violation that results in a fine for:

  • Unsportsmanlike Conduct based upon an act, such as disrespectful or aggressive behaviour directed towards an official, opponent, spectator, or other person during or upon conclusion of a match
  • Verbal or Physical Abuse of an official, opponent, spectator, or any other person while on-court or on-site

Isn't this his first major "official" transgression, though?

You can't just throw the book at someone just because they come across as a thorough bell-end.

Wild comment, had he battered his legs you think it’s fine not to throw the book? Should everyone get an out of jail free card fir a first offence? He not only bullied and intimidated the umpire, he was swearing loudly on live TV and in front a load of kids… the punishment is an absolute disgrace.

He didn't "what if he'd?!" though, did he?

Umpires should be allowed to kick them in the face if it happens again. Due to the chair they have the high ground... I doubt any other player would dare to repeat

Yawn, anti-George posting is so 2006. All spawned by RLM and their ilk. The prequels are masterpieces of film, to be enjoyed by true film connoisseurs.
I'm not bashing him. That was just a docu-like film about the prequels.
He's responsible for the original trilogy, and took part in indiana jones too. I love the guy for that. Just trully hate the prequels. I can't see anything good in them (ok, darth maul was cool). Glad that you enjoy them, but not for me.
