He is returning after 6 months of recovery from an ankle injury.
Refreshed.
Regrouped.
Strong as never before.

He's just easily defeated Djokovic in a HC match in Dubai. 6-4 6-3.

In Melbourne the tennis world will see an unforgettable display.

Zed will be keen, no doubt but he needs time to rebuild and get to the level where he once was. Even that wasn’t enough for him to win but one day, I hope, he’ll be able to convert one of those and win his first slam.

He's one of the best players in the world, so of course he has a chance. He's not the favorite, though. Last year he had as good a chance as anyone, and he got thoroughly outclassed by Shapovalov, so we'll see what happens.

who is that?

He's a professional chess player who's been a consistent top-5 player in the world for the last ~10 years, but over the last ~4 years he's prioritized streaming chess content, although he still competes as a professional player at all the biggest tournaments. But anyway, the running joke is that he "literally doesn't care" about his chess results, yet he's actually achieved better results, including against the world #1 player, ever since he became a streamer.

TBH that's where I thought you were going with that. My bad for assuming!

Wait, we're getting this of an exho?

Remember when Roddick beat Federer in an exho before AO 2007?
Come on, it's not about the scoreline. It's about Zverev's quality. This guy was terribly injured for a half year. Now he's playing excellent against the HC giant.

Sascha will be a monster in 2023 season. Against all ABZ.

Hopefully the draw will put the Serbian and the German player on the same side and they will face each other in the fourth round.
:happydevil:

I would love this for sure

If you want a new winner I would almost rather see Djok v Zverev in the Final

Z is too good a player to sneak up on Djokovic in any round. The chance to catch him flat-footed in 3R or 4R belongs to guys like Chung and Istomin

It reminds me of Lendl skipping the 1990 FO to get more practice on grass before Wimbledon! He was no doubt the hardest worker out there and did respectfully over many years trying to win at SW19! He got to Queen's SF defeating Edberg, then Becker in the final! It looked promising, but we all knew it wasn't to be as it was a 3rd straight final with Edberg & Becker! BO5 is just a whole nothier match and Djokovic has taken advantage of the NG'rs capitalizing on them to choke their guts out! ;):D

Zverev toppled Djokovic like Djokovic was a junior player. Eye opening bashing.
True.
People are blind.
Zverev is like a phoenix rising from the ashes.
It will be so clear in the near future.

I hope not. Zverev and Novak always face off as early as possible (given ranking) on hard court. Its time Medvedev and Tsitsipas are in Novaks half in the AO.

That would require him to (most likely) beat several top 10 players at a slam.
I see it in a different way

That's why I said most likely, since it's theoretically possible that the top seeds lose in the first or second round. But still... the chances of that are astronomically small, since this isn't the WTA.

Djokovic in 3 boring sets will be the outcome.
Zverev is toast against Novak on any surface that doesn't allow him to servebot and coast through.
Novak has a better game on clay, especially for this matchup.

'Foolish'?
Humblerev!

the title is clickbait. Zverev is saying that he (Zverev) would be for foolish to except to him to win AO Given his injury.

Did you read the article?

I am so tired of people gaslighting others. The title is misleading and trying to create the exact opposite impression than what was said. It propaganda.

Its like ignoring that Tsitsipas said he, Zverev and Med would be the next big 3, while Zverev said the big three were exceptional and no one would dominate the way they did.
