He is returning after 6 months of recovery from an ankle injury.
Refreshed.
Regrouped.
Strong as never before.

He's just easily defeated Djokovic in a HC match in Dubai. 6-4 6-3.

In Melbourne the tennis world will see an unforgettable display.
He isn't Federer/Nadal do that

Sascha will be lucky to make it past the second round. He hasn’t played in any real meaningful matches and suffered a setback after the USO.

He’s not winning this GS. Unless he took what Rafa does

At the AO22 the pressure was too high.

Sascha is able to play extraordinarily great when he's not a favourite.
That's why he won YEC twice as an underdog, that's why he won an OGM at Tokyo Olympics, had a great run at RG22.

In Melbourne this year the expectations are low. That's perfect for him.

I think you mean what it took Federer to win the 2017 Australian Open and the Sunshine Double on top of that.
Quite a 'miraculous' return of the Swiss player!

Since when is sascha Roger Federer ?
I’m a fan of zverev and I’m hoping he does some damage. I wanted him to win that French open bad last year. And I respect the hell out of him for competing at a high level with his diabetic issue.

But I’m just being realistic here on expectations. I’m definitely going to be thrilled if he won this slam or any. I just don’t see him doing it at AO

Sorry ttw I don't see Zverev winning any slams or masters in 2023. His injury will always be at the back of his head when he is really pushing his body in bo5 matches against good players.
He will be a force to reckon with in 2024.

The easiest GS draw ever.
1R noname LL
2R Goffin
3R Schwartzman (the most comfortable #17-#32 opponent possible at this stage)
4R Fritz

He seems to have a knack of playing his best tennis when no one is talking about him, yeah actually his draw looks quite a good one to work his way in

But Fritz is in better shape than he is today.
If they do face each other, the American should beat him.
:)

Add Zverev to the list of seeds dropping like flies this year. What's that now? 11 of the 32 seeds out in R2? Strong era.

Mostly in the bottom quarter. Top half has 12 of 16 seeds left (and top quarter has seven of eight - all bar Nadal). Second quarter has three seeds out but they are all minor seeds - Musetti (17), Coric (21), and Van de Zandschulp (32). In the third quarter, the only seed out is Kyrgios and that was a withdrawal. But the bottom quarter has only one seed left and he is a set and two breaks down, so it may well be that the quarter has no seeds left by round 3.

Great news--Zverev is out of the AO.

Anyone thinking that talentless thug Zverev was winning the 2023 AO must have been mainlining some strong stuff.

It was not realistic to expect that player coming back from such terrible injury and win first GS.But I guess fan love is blind

hey look, a post with a better prediction.

I wasn’t thrilled about it. I was hoping he made it much further. But realistically - his first tourney coming off a serious injury. Unless he got that Mallorca treatment - recovery wasn’t going to be a miracle
