bollitieri academy review

Hey guys. I'm going to be training at bollitieri for this week and I thought it would be useful for me to post my review. I won't be sleeping and boarding there so I won't be able to describe the entire experience. Any questions or comments just post here and I will try and answer.

Sunday check in day.
I checked in today and was able to walk around parts of the academy. I wasn't very impressed with the courts. There were many don't get me wrong, but only about 4 had windscreens. I have played in tournaments in port washington, and I must say port washington was much more impressive with looks. It was much more state of the art there than at bollitieri.

People from my club might be there that week. Make sure you get the pudding in the cafeteria. It's really good. I went during February with friends of mine. No one goes in the pool. The breakfast food is the same everyday so don't expect new food in the morning.

Day 1 monday.
We started off with a quick evaluation, and then off to the forehands. The reason why the produce so many champions is the way they teach. Everything is precise and must be followed correctly (form footwork etc) then was match play, which was followed by an analiosis with video playback. Overall it was a pretty good firstday, all the coaches are very helpful and knowledgeable.

I want to learn that pinpoint stance serve that they teach

No I don't train at port, I just played there for a tournament a couple of times. We didn't do any learning with serves yet.
Day 3- backhands.
Pretty much the same as the forehand day, only with backhands. It was supposibly too crowded at bollittieri so they moved us to some other courts nearby for match play and we played doubles.

Day 4- we practiced swinging vollies and hit some groundstrokes etc. We then played singles matches. The cool thing though was the video analysis they did of us. They shot video of some of our groundstrokes and serves and told us the positives and negatives. They also did a side by side comparison to pro players. Mine was compared groundstrokes to haas, and serve to mirnyi. That definetly was a big help and almost instantly improved my game.
No I didn't try pudding I had jello, and I wil say the coaches name when I leave just in case there is anything negative and they are reading.

Last day there we worked on our slice aproaches. Then we played some games.
My coachs name was cougar
Overall I think it was worth it for me I feel like I improved my groundstrokes which is what I needed the most. It is only wort it if you know what you need fixed, and if you are one of the elite players. A beginner won't get very much out of it just the experience.

Sweet, e-mail me if you are playing a tournament on the Island. I will probably be there with some of my other juniors.

yes it is in delray beach well actually for the boys its mainly in boca raton the girls are mainly played in delray... i just finished up my tournament i did alright winning one in the main draw and picking up a match in 3 sets in one of the backdraws. i am very frustrated because i lost to a very annoying pusher. he would push and lob with the forehand and hit dinky backhands till you got frustrated and missed or he would just push you to death. in all the tournament has been an experience for me especially missing school ^^

p.s. the number one seed has not lost yet he almost lost yesterday to tj pura one of my best friends 6-4 in the third...

I'm from New York. Yes I play tournaments. When I was in the 12's a little over a year ago I made it up to around 10 or 15 in the east something like that. Now that I'm in the 14's Im am in the top 40 in the east with a year to go.
