Current Ezone 98 user. All they need to do is reduce the jarring, board-like upper half of the stringbed, and you'll have a racquet that does everything a Babolat Pure Aero/Pure Drive does, with way more comfort and better control. Please Yonex, do not increase the stiffness more than it already is.

Go back to the stiffness of the DR98 or DR98 Plus... thanks Yonex :giggle:

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that. The Ezone, for the most part is pretty plush as it is. The increased stiffness over the DR actually offers more power on groundstrokes and pop on serves, without a noticeable loss in control. It's just the completely alien characteristics of that upper hoop to the rest of the stringbed that bothers me.

A bit of lead at 10 and 02 would cure that.

It should be out in sept..a soft introduction at the us open..then full release for the Asian swing of the Tours...
That was the pattern with the current ezone and the DR line..

Since blue is the color of choice of both Kyrgios AND Osaka it will definitely be available again. But Im more worried about the yellow one, this is my favorite.(that being said the latest version looks terrible, almost green :s)

I actually want to start a petition to bring back the DR. everyone would win customer,Yonex and retailers.

I think brands are usally not that fond of releasing older models again. Which is a shame for us..

But do start that petition, I'll sign for sure!

Guys why is the ezone dr stated as flexier than the curret model? ezone dr 100 had 69RA and the current one has 68 that's weird

once i got the string tension right on the ezone 98 i have definitely preferred it over the dr98, for the same reason you state: more pop. it plays bigger than its size ... basically an aeropro with more control thats easier on the elbow.

What tension do you string at? I find that a soft poly at around 47-48 lbs works best fo me. There isn't much (if any) loss in control compared to what I got stringing it in the low 50's

i do 52/50 in my ezone98 with xperience 17L/ SPPP 18 and it feels good...could probably go a bit lower but afraid of the trampoline effect. I added some lead tape at 10/2 and it hits wonderfully for me now. My only gripe is that, it’s harder to generate spin coming from more open pattern racquets like the diadem elevate tour.

I find that Yonex Isometric heads can get very board-y at higher tensions...and generally work much better when crosses are strung 5-10% lower than mains.

I hope the new version went on a diet and reduced it's beem width..

You'd have a goat level frame if they'd reduce the beam to be 19-23-22 keeping the same string spacing, decreasing a little swing-weight, and making it a touch flexier.

But new ones will be out in months, allegedly. I never fully liked the EZONE 98 update. I did play with my ai98 to compare with the gravity yesterday. I think the Gravity is growing on me...
I also got one new for £60 ($70) was too hard to turn down! love the line and think I will stay with it unless Yonex really screws it up.

if i had to guess, given the fact that the dr98 has a cult following now, the update will probably be more dr98ish and less ezone 98ish. and theyll try to market it as such. flex and repulsion will increase by 4% and 9.7cm, respectively

We just need to find the right string and tension for the Gravity. The Ezone 98 got stiffer in the hoop especially for those that came from the DR 98 models.

Right. The Ai was perfect in that regard. 19mm in the throat (felt amazing in the off-hand winding up a 1-hander) and 23mm in the hoop for power and stability.

The AI 98 was very whippy and definitely great racquet. I just didn't like how much the throat flex and moved on to another racquet. You can definitely flatten shots with the AI 98.

I actually got to hit with the Gravity MP and my EZONE 98 tonight. Two completely different racquets - but I'm finding I enjoy the power and launch of the Gravity a little more. I have a lot more margin for error than I do with my EZONE 98...

They need to do something to differentiate the next EZONE from the VCORE line. RIght now the two lines are close matches on head size, weight, balance, flex. They aren’t identical but you need to be a real racquet nerd to differentiate them. Both are for “modern power and spin.” Marketing needs to whip up a story on why to look at one vs the other like the other major brands now have for their lines.

Agree, they are similar but to me the Ezone is a bit stiffer, more pop. Vcore 98 was very blah for me, maybe a touch more spin but not as stable. Vcore 95 is lower power, more control and flatter trajectory than Ezone and Vcore 98.
