New video of TennisNerd (youtube channel about tennis and rackets) makes emphasize to consider the vibration value of a racket and value it even higher than the RA rating when considering arm friendliness. He claims the RA rating alone doesnt represent the full and actuall way it responds to our body.
I was quite shocked by the values of the Ezone.
With 149 the Ezone 98 is quite in the middle of all rackets but the Ezone 100 is with 160 in the hogher spots in this ranking! Higher than most Babolat rackets.

I got issues with my triceps (the part where the triceps ends and follows in the ellbow) soon after I started hitting with my Ezone 98 last year.
It got worse and worse and I went to a doctor. Doctor says it’s definitely not a tennis nor golfer arm and the MRT xray shows a bit of liquid in the triceps. At the end my doctor and I were not even sure my pain is coming from playing tennis. I have problems only when playing overheads and serves, and sometimes BH slices. Groundstrokes are no problem. After switching to fully Multi and doing stretches and strengthening almost daily I am now getting better but I wonder if its not my racket which is responsible for my issues in the first place.

for all people who play with an Ezone 100 of the newest generation: you play with a vibrational Monster and if you play with a fullbed of poly you play with fire!!
for what its worth, Ezone 98 was picked as best arm-friendly racquet of 2021 by tennis warehouse:
TennisNerd has a new review of the Ezone 98 where he also says that its quite comfortable (and he has a sensitive arm).

Curious how measured because the vdm seems to do Adair my good job of dampening.

I guess the plush feeling when hitting is disguising the fact that its actually a racket with quite a lot of vibrations. The Ezone 98 is still in the norm as I said but the 100 really is in the Pure Drive range. If you search the forum is full with people asking if the Ezone could give them arm issues - so probably the answer is yes, especially if you play them with strung poly

I've tried many racquets, and have had arm issues with a lot of them.
But I've never had any issues with the Ezone line at all.
It surprised me as the specs perhaps say otherwise.

Don't you think it tells a lot? What is your level? Did you have some lessons ? Because if you have arm problems with many racquets it could be something with your technique.

Just got off the court with my coach and asked him specifically to look my serve and technique for any habits that would contribute to arm injury.
He couldn't find any really.
Only thing was that maybe my arm goes too far back on the serve.

Ok then maybe you are just volatile to such things like vibrations so in such case going really down with stiffness is really important.

Why only the serve ? What about the other strokes ?

I'll be honest with you, I think it's partly due to my body being naff.
I'm a healthy weight but my job is entirely sedentary, and I don't do anything in the means of strength training. It's a case of use it or lose it I suppose.
My tendons are small and weak, simple as.

It's the serve that triggers pain, and eventually injury. Last year I hit a serve and nanoseconds later it felt like I got a dead arm. Had to take a 3 month break. Bicep tendon injury according to physio.

Didn't expect you guys to take an interest, so thanks for the concern haha.

But to reiterate my point before. The Ezone line has NEVER caused me pain or injury. (Providing I'm not currently injured).

My wishlist for the 2022 version of the Ezone 100, is that the comfort would be slightly improved. Great racquet indeed and really suites me well. Perhaps for such a stiff and powerful racquet, it is not possible to improve comfort…..

Looking at the recently updated Vcore Pro line, my guess is that they might integrate the “Flex Fuse” tech into the 2022 Ezone line which might improve comfort…..big “might” though.

Maybe Yonex can come up with their own version of tech such as Volkl “V-Sensor handle” or like the new Tecnifibre “X-Damp” that seem to further reduce vibrations and improve arm comfort…..

I actually started playing with the Ezone 100 one year ago, with poly strings, and did eventually get golfers elbow. Now though, I switched to multifilament strings and it feels far better, although not healed…..but seems to neither improve nor get worse.

I also bought the Vcore 100 and funny enough, it does feel a bit more comfortable. But, I don’t like the more open string pattern.

For my game, an Ezone 100 with improved comfort, would be ideal. Maybe wishful thinking but one is allowed to dream :)

I am wondering if they are going to follow the paintjob idea of VCore Pro or it is just a one time retro paint ;)

Does anybody knows how to fix the harshness of the off center shots on the ezone 98? That developed me some wrist pain that made me get off the court for 30 days, even playing with multis @52 lbs

2 grams of lead/tungsten split between 10 and 2.

Raises swingweight to 325.

I promise you it’ll fix your issue. Speaking from experience, check my previous posts regarding this issue.

some lead at 3 and 9 -- will evenly stabilize the racket on off center hits. Balance it with tape on handle. Creates more mass. resists twisting.

i have zero experience on adding lead to my racquet. I have searched all over the internet some guide to add at 2 and 10, but can't find! How can i find exactly the spot to put the lead?

If using 1/4 inch tape, 2 grams is 4x strips of 2 inches each. I started where the word "ISOMETRIC" ends in all directions and worked great, try it and adjust accordingly.

Just saw this. So its more like 11/1 , right? If you could upload a photo that would help me a lot!

Sorry for the late reply! I don't have my rackets on hand unfortunately. Try the following:

Does anyone play a hybrid of Poly Tour Pro and a multi in their EZone? I’ve been playing a full bed of PTP and want to mix in a multi for some more power and wonder what will pair well?
I liked PTP with NRG. I string low - poly at 45. I do not like it with Rexis - the launch angle is in the ground. Curious what others use also.

That's exactly what I do and I love it. I put the multi in the mains and the PTP in the crosses. I have a medium speed swing and it works well for me.

I think this is a silly question, but is there any difference between the ezone 98 2020 blue and white (osaka) other than the color?
No, they are the same racquet, just different cosmetics. (not silly at all btw)
Yeah, not a silly question at all.

Back in the day, Babolat made a Pure Drive Roddick, which was certainly based on the Pure Drive, but had different specs than the regular Pure Drive.

Thanks for your answers, I had the doubt whether to buy the pair in white color but finally I found a second hand blue one in pretty good condition, however, there is a difference of 6 grams between my current yonex and the one I bought, could this difference be because my first yonex has the original grip (ac128ex if I'm not mistaken) and the one I bought a white wilson sublime? I have already verified that there is no added weight on the frame or handle, only the grip is different

yeah, the grip (even different string type and gauge) totally can sum up to 6g difference. Yonex grips are ones of the thinnest and lightest. Besides that, balance and swing weight are way more meaningful indicators of how the racquet plays. If you can measure the balance, you will have a better picture.

If I use a Wilson grip size #3 4 3/8 are the Yonex grips similar size? I might have to build up the end of handle to make it similar to Wilson.

Unfortunately I don't have how to measure the balance or swingweight, but I just weighed the racquet without strings and without overgrip and it weighs 311g , quite far from 305. The only difference with a factory new racquet is the wilson sublime white grip.

That can change the weight. Grips don’t all have the same weight. Actually I swapped a Wilson for a friend and noticed it had more weight than the babolat he had.

A new grip could easily weight 6 grams more than the stock one… why do you think they’d be identical?

I assumed there would be a difference but I was surprised that it was 6 grams. I am thinking of replacing the wilson sublime with the yonex leather tour, do you know if this would be closer in weight to the stock one?

The Yonex synthetic grip is likely the lightest synthetic grip available. The Yonex leather grip will probably run about 15 grams heavier.

I bought a ezone 98 2020 and somehow I felt it was heavy. While put it on the scale, I found the weight is about 333gram strung.

I have Head Velocity MLT and Head Hydrosorb and Wilson Pro on the racket.

My Head Radical Pro which is 315gram unstrung is 331 gram with the same string same grips.

Seems like something is wrong?

MikhailT

Rookie
nah, its fine. Head Hydrosorb is heavier than Yonex' stock grip. If anything your Radical maybe underspec. Strings and overgrip surely weigh more than 16 grams
