Multis that dont "peel off"

Do all multis peel off like NGR2?

CIMG1472.jpg

My NGR2 reel is empty and I am about to buy a new one but I would like to see other options. I specially dont like the fact that the NGR2 peel off, I would rather if they would just "pop" and break instead of loosing tension little by little while they peel off.

I am about to test Head Rip Control what do you think of this one?

I would really appreciate you imput since where i live there is not that much of variety so I cant test and have to buy it outside the country.

Thanks.

All the multi's I've used have the same behavior. Some do it earlier and hold their characteristics despite that, some do it just before they break (perhaps because they break EXTREMELY quickly :) ).

This question is confined to multis that come in reels too, correct!??

Prince's Synthetic Gut Multifilament (PSGM).

Tecnifibre's Multifeel.

The term is fraying. NRG2 and all multifilaments have hundreds and hundreds of fibers bonded together to form that thin little string. I think XCel premium has something like 1,100 fibers? Anyways, wearing down of the string, which breaks the strings, unbonds the fibers and they come apart.

Most synthetic guts with wraps will fray a tiny bit, but nowhere near like what multifilaments do.

Ok guys, thanks for your imput and information. The prince´s option sound good, I do not how i didnt see it before, the good news is that i can find a set of this string here for test purposes. Again thanks.

all multi's are gonna fray (NXT, livewire, ect)

if you guy a synthetic gut and it doesn't fray its probably not a multifiliment one.

OK thank you all again, Im doing some numbers and so far the prince option has the best relation usd/ft. Since i use it for hybrid applications it is not a good idea to buy just sets, i will loose like 4 ft of each package. And Im definitely testing the Yonex 850 just because i like Yonex products.

yeah, my livewire is fraying a lot too... but despite only the crosses fraying, the mains will still be the first to break right?

I guess its also a good indication that we're making good contact on the ball...

I have tried PSG Multifilament 17 and GAmma Revelation 17 and they haven't frayed in my Agel 200. They broke after a week, which is average durability for me, but the shorter time might be why they didn't fray. When I used NXT, it frayed extremely quickly.

I hit with the Yonex 880 Ti Soft - pretty amazing. The string does not move even after hitting for 3 hours. Other strings I have used before move a lot and I had to adjust. I think the Yonex 880 and the Tour super 850 are both good strings IMO.

Ok, i already have a rip control set, and will test, have revelation 17 (in PINK??!!) and will test, and this week i should get the Prince SGM, and a friend is going to give some of Multifeel from technifibre too, and will test all of them, thank you very much for all your answer, they all have been very helpfull. Oh and i am definitely trying the yonex string as soon as i make and order to TW ill put some sets of it.

Again thanks.

one question, do you have the same string for the mains and crosses? cause it seems that your mains strings say babolat on them, are you using full NRG2?

Hi, nop i do not have a full NGR2, good eye BTW, it is PH mains and NGR2 crosses, well actually this was what i was using untill yesterday that my strings broke and change my setup because i have no more PH and yesterday i use what was remaining on my NGR2 reel. Now im changing to Competition and whatever i like the most after i test all the strings mentioned above.

thanks for asking.

no problem. it caught my eye because poly's never fray and I saw babolat so i was like  but many people say competition is a great string good luck

Sorry i didnt respond your question before, but know that you mention it ill tell you my experience:

1. In this case it is and hybrid job with poly on the mains so yeah definitely the crosses break first, usually two weeks for both my rackets.
2. But, i use some times a full multi string job, for arm recuperation purposes mainly ;), and in this case, again, the crosses brake first but a lot faster, usually a week for both my rackets.
3. I have used and hybrid of multi on the mains and synt gut on the crosses and this is the only case, in my experience, that the multi as mains break first.

It seems to me the what "damage" multis when they are used as crosses is the friction of the mains movement, polys cause less friction hence the crosses last longer on a poly-multi stringjob, multi-multi must be a lot of friction since they have a rough cover, and you can imagine the friction between synt gut and multi.

Now that im thinking, a hybrid of multi on the mains and poly on the crosses should last longer than my current set up (?), i shall test.

Of course this is all according my experience.

thanks for your input...

my livewire broke today... the mains were the ones that popped, but afterwards I had a close inspection of the crosses and noticed that the fraying was quite severe... surprised that they didn't break first...
