there are that will pay $300 for used ones ( twice already) why dont you think there arn't that will pay more for new ones:confused:

Okay, I guess there are some Fools out there after all.

Who wants to buy my PT280 (Made in Austria) 8.5/10 condition for $250 squids per stick? I got 3. If you buy all 3, then you get a discount.

Michael,

Can I join? Long time PC600 user who has been waiting for years now for Alex to sell him some PT630's :) He's still dragging his feet, I'm this close to giving up all hope.

Can I be an honory member? eventhough I'm currently swinging a Wilson K90? (Did I just say Wilson? Is that even allowed in this tread? LOL )

Thanks,
Hoc
Hey Hoc, long time no see, sure you can #23 welcome, I will see what I can do for you , you still at BC?

I can't believe that tool on the bay raised the starting bid to $369. I bet he is a TW member who is just acting out of spite.

I have to say that I can't believe the prices that used PT280's are going for these days. To think that a few years ago they were going for only $70 brand new at big box retailers like Sports Authority. Wow!! I should have stocked up back then. :( Better than collecting interest in the bank. ;)

Darn!!! Looks like I blew it again. I DID in fact stock up on the PS 6.0 95's but I've already sold 9 out of the 10 that I had at pretty low prices, much lower than the $130 for a new one. Oh well.

I guess some people's other hobby beside playing tennis is racquets flipping and racquets testing/demoing?
Or it's stocking up on their favorite racquet when it's discontinued so that they can be assured to have enough to last them a long time. I've always regretted not stocking up on the Dunlop Max200G when they were discontinued back in 1992. :(

But, of course, people also move on to another racquet so then have all these other racquets they longer use so can get rid of to finance the acquisition of the next racquet. :)

BTW, some people here have 10-20 frames of the same model. Some even have 5-10 frames each of 20 different models.

michael chaho for Prez! only if he can sell the PT630 for $50 squids to everyone! LOL

OK everyone who votes for me gets to know the biggest secret where to find NEW PT630:)

Let's see some video footage. Anything on youtube?

I got a video from 1982 on an 8mm:confused: swinging the Ultra 2 Mid when I was 13, maybe I can try to upload that. I am not going to take a video of myself at 40. I might upload a video of my 5 year old son,:)

Anyway thanks for all the people who voted for me

Thanks for the invitation, tandayu! :)

I'm also an ex-PT280 owner, so does that qualify me to come here once in a while? :)

I would like to hear your experiences with PT280. Expecially you have significant exposure with Ps6.0 95 and max 200g etc. Priceless....

Found some old Tennis mag article talking about how Muster was using the PT despite the Kneissl paintjob. I'll scan it and upload in the next couple of days (after Christmas). I also found an old series of pics of him swinging the forehand and backhand -cool stuff. Happy Holidays to all you PT players!

thanks pleepers, anyone who has photos of the PT please post them

there is a HEAD advertisement in this months tennis magazine about the evolution of the Microgel prestige and they have a photo of muster swinging the PT

Hey all,
This is my first post on TW, but I have always been interested in the PT 630. I am an avid racket collector and want to happily inform that i own two PT 630's. Both new. I was rather happy with the find actually. One with full CAP and the other with the made in Austria label on the throat.

Would you buy the ProTour nowadays only for collection or is it still a good frame for the way of playing of today?

Are those collecting dust among your collections or are you using it?

Actually i strung one up and it is amazing to play with. I grew up in the titanium tennis generation of rackets, so I never really appreciated old frames much. I keep my collection pretty clean. I rather keep the full CAP PT 630, with the plastic and labels, unstrung for value purposes.

I know that there has been alot written about this in other threads but i really dont have the energy to search for it, so heres my question. I own a couple of twin tube zebras, are the zebras very much like the pro tour? It would seem that way to judge by the stats, about the same stiffnes and similar frame. But ive never played a pro tour so i really dont know. And which players on the tour are using the pro tour today?

thats great. where did you get it?

im just wondering what to string mine with. there was a bit of a weight change when i took off my prince synthetic guts for the NXT. ill have to play around some more. i liked the synthetic gut weight more.

Michael, do u have any suggestions on string? I don't like poly strings and i like a string with roughly the same weight as the prince syn.

early chinese production had barcode, let us know and we will tell you what year it was made, also there is no such thing as a bad PT they are all great, it is just what you prefer. we should have a secret hand shack as well,

Prince original synthetic gut the non dura crap is light, if you like NXT, you should try Biphase 18g at 55lbs or NRG 18g

Pro Tour 280 - 690 (OS)

I have a few mid+ 280/630 and picked up an OS PT280 for 20 bucks.

Has anyone hit with this racquet?

Is it built from the same materials as the mid+?

Is it similar to the Radical OS?

Like it.. hate it? :)

Can I join this club? I never owned a Pro Tour 280, but have positive memories of them. I played with the Ti Radical my freshman year in high school, and the #3 player on our team had 2 Pro Tour 280's. I remember thinking that they were the coolest looking sticks I had ever seen (you can't beat the blue pj). That guy modeled his game exactly like Jim Courier; he literally had nearly the same technique on the serve, forehand, backhand, etc. Had the same warrior-mentality as well.

Anyway, I wish I could have got some when they were cheap at TW or even the h bird. I got to hit with them once, felt great.

You can pick one up for about a hundred bucks in nice condition.

well, i think i can now become a member with my latest adquisition: 2 brand new Head Pro Tours with CAP Groomets, Liquidmental radical painjobs and Calfskin leather grips

I´ve played yesterday for the first time, for about 2:30hs, i really enjoyed this racquets, in fact, they will be probably my main sticks for the next weeks...
here is a thread with some pics

Bud,
Would u kno where to get them?

I got all 4 of mine off Fleabay. The 2 MP 280s were $100 each (one made in Austria, one designed in Austria), the PT630... I picked up for $60 from someone who didn't know what he was selling... and it's in 9.5/10 shape and still had the original strings and the full case. The PT 280 690 I just bought was a bit over $20 dollars.

you scored some good deals Bud; can't believe that guy only sold it for $60.

Did Head ever try to replace the frame? I've read on these boards that the Premier Tour was a lame attempt. I'm surprised that Head kept making new versions of the Prestige and Radical line but no newer line bearing the "pro tour" mantle.

Need some PT630's :)

PT630 Agent #23 reporting for duty, in need of some PT630's, preferably in 3/8 grip.

Thanks to Tandayu's loaners, I'm sure I'm going to get hooked on these frames!

Happy hitting guys!

You guys know who to sell your PT630s to ! :)

Thanks again to Alex for the loaners, these are indeed nice looking paintjobs, so slick looking!

Another frame that I think gets a look is the Pyramid Tour 630; it swings slightly faster than the Pro Tour 630 IMO but plays with a similar feel. !Tym had a really good post regarding this frame a while back.

Calling the PT630 experts!

Hey Gang,

I know that **** had recently been getting some 630's from Head. Were these a newly made batch or old ones that Head had sitting in their warehouse? If they are a new batch...does this mean that they do not have twaron in them?

I inquired there last week -- they said none available (nor in the foreseeable future) and steered me to the MG Prestige.
