To those who think Nadal will NOT win RG

Is there anyone that actually thinks Nadal won't win? Please explain. I want to think he won't win (Go Fed!) but can't find any reason he wouldn't.

He won't win unless he'll have a bloody battle with Joker in 5 sets and has blister on his feet going to the final with Fed. Otherwise, it's impossible to beat him. I am Fed's fan by the way.

I think Federer can beat Djokovic who I think has a small chance to beat Nadal, but I don't think Federer can beat Nadal, so I think Djokovic can beat Nadal on a bad day given the proper weather conditions.....still I think you guys saying its impossible are delusional, of course Djokovic and Federer will not be the favorites but they are both the third best and best players in the world and have the weapons required given the chips falling their way.

To those who thought Coria would NOT beat Gaudio to win RG 2004.... you were in the overwhelming minority, but you were right.

Yep, as Johnny Mac says, "hang around, you never know, the other guy might break an ankle!"

I was about to say that. He may have a bad day or get up with a sore neck or back. Whatever, I'd not like the scenario a bit but it can happen.

And a good example. I still recall our commentato saying after the match 'maybe it's good that Gaston won it, Guillermo is bound to take this trophy and the only mistery is which years will be written beside his name' .. Goes to show something, does it.

^^^(re: edmondsm) Nadal lost sets against Federer (and Djokovic) recently and Fed could've beaten him 6-1, 7-6 in Hamburg had he converted the set point he had in the 1st set of the Hamburg final.
If Fed can create a lead and hold on to it (he had leads in nearly all the sets they've played this year on clay), who knows.
But yes, of course Nadal is the favorite.

Yep quite a difference the way the courts play. I think the tennis balls are heavier to at the French Open which is more spin friendly to players like Nadal.

Fed has the fitness, and the game to fight keep it competitive, and win. Whether he will keep his mental focus is the only real question.

IMO there never really was much doubt we'd see a Fed-Nadal final, the only slight question is the Djoker and how much he can tire Nadal (if Nadal ever gets tired). They have both been winning without much fuss or drama, Nadal has been clinical and Fed is getting it done when it matters.

If anyone thinks Nadal is not a favorite, I suggest they don't skip their medication.

the sports world, including tennis, is rife with 'sure things' that turn into upsets, otherwise why even play the match. crazy things happen, and even true nadal lovers have some element of doubt in their minds. but first fed has to get past monfils and nadal has to get past joker.

Nadal is the favorite just like Fed is at wimbledon but anything is possible.I never thought that Nadal would push Fed on grass but its not real grass. The matches have to be played.U cant default the matches.

Impossible is nothing.

But someone who declares anyone else the favourite to win this year is an idiot. I'll be hoping for Roger though.

Except Gaudio and Coria were pretty close in abilities. Nadal is far and above anyone on clay right now.

Nadal will loose the FO this year to Fed in one of the closest most contested 5 set matches of all time.

And

Due to the loss at the FO Nadal will become a head case for the rest of the year barely reaching the 4th round at Wimby and just practically falling apart by hardcourt season. This of course will result in a drastic decline from his #2 ranking all the way down to somewhere around 9-10.

Wait and see........

100-2 not bad no? But I sense Djoker beating Tsitsipas in the final with one of the aforementioned 2 beating Nadal in 5 epic sets.

Truth is, Nadal won 6-1 6-3 6-0, and then went to beat Federer in Wimbledon final.

It's funny that I was reading this post thinking it was written now and it's from 13 years ago, how little things changed lol.

I think it's a similar situation, maybe Nadal has a long tough match with Djokovic in the SF and he's physically affected for the final and an on-fire Zverev/Thiem/Tsitsipas can take advantage.

But I think Nadal has it in the bag 99%.

Us tennis fans are living in a time loop, whatever that is.

Djokovic has a slight chance to beat Nadal, Federer has even less. Nadal's only real opponent is a blister. The most likely outcome to this tournament is Nadal winning without dropping a set.
Oh look, another troll overrating Nadal's chances. When will it stop? Djokovic OWNS Nadal mentally. Did you miss Rome, where Nadal couldn't even beat a washed-up Ferrero and Djokovic took the trophy with ease? Djokovic will probably win the calendar slam this year. I mean, who's gonna stop him? Mono Fed? Blisterdal? Luckiest tennis player ever.
