This question was originally posted in the competitive equipment section. It got alot of views and posts but not alot of concrete replies.
I am reposting it in the racquet section hoping some of our well informed posters who troll this section and may have close ties to Head and/or the pros on tour or stringers to the pros, or simply know the facts (as opposed to conjecture)and who can opine with clear knowledge and actual insight on the pt57E can answer the following questions:
In reading posts from the past it has been suggested that this Head' code (PT57E) is:
1) the stock i prestige;
2) others say,the pt57 is code for a SMU made up of a combination (or perhaps compilation) of the best know-how and knowledge derived from the PT630/i prestige, etc only available to the pros and the E merely signifies the differences in the lay-up (combinations of layers of graphite, other resins and twaron/not twaron, etc, etc)? If that is the case, does anyone know the recipe?
3) yet others have said it's based on the iPrestige mold but is made from different materials.
Does anyone on these boards really know? Put another way, does anyone really know what the pt57e is? If you do, please post and put this issue to bed once and for all.
Why am I asking the question:
-if its a stock iPrestige, there is a readily available stock;
-if its a mold based on the iPrestige, how close is it to the stock model?
-if its a SMU as described above, we will know for sure this is a special beast that's not raelly close to any available production model.
Thanks for looking and posting
