I'm still a big fan of Djokovic

+ I like his game
+ I especially like the serve
+ I like the determination he has in his matches.
- I don't like when he flubs matches when he knows he's lost, but I don't mind him forfeiting. If he can't play he can't play, it's still a win to the other person.
+ I don't mind his attitude. I don't see it as cocky, just he's confident in himself.
+ Is sporting some nice green tennis duds this season. Might have to check it out.
+ Game is very controlled and inspiring on clay.
+ He's funny as only God knows

I wouldn't mind him taking world #1 or 2 in the next few years. He's got the game for it.

I like him alot, it's nice to have lots of different characters in the game....

His game is good too especially his back hand is freaking nice

Think he is a great player but he seems to be struggling of late.

Doubt he'll be #1 over Rafa though

Yeah

I am not his fan. But I really hope he can shape up to make the current competition even more thrilling and complex.

Federe, Nadal, Murray and Djoker sharing the grand slams sound pretty good for me.

Great guy. Would be nice for him to take the number 2 spot from Federer. Especially funny in the karaoke jam at Roland Garros.

Murray stands a better chance to overtake both Nadal and Federer to climb to Number one. Not so soon in 2009 but not too far ahead as well.

Whatever, personally, I'd like to see messy fights.

There is no question about his talent. He is very entertaining to watch also. He just needs to mature some more. Will be towards the top of the rankings for a while.

i think djokovic will not win a slam ever again because he has a lot more flaws than rafa nadal, federer and murray and i think those 3 will win every slam for the next few years

I Used to like Djokovic....during the humble years when it was all smiles, determination and respect. Kinda lost it a lil., but I still think he has a strong game when he is on. He is one of the best on hard courts IMO.

I don't agree with the determination part... That will prevent him from being no. 1 in the future. He's getting killed by players like Tsonga.

That's an interesting remark, Tsonga has now beaten Djokovic 4 times in a row. Tsonga has also won several tournaments in 2009. Has anybody thought Tsonga could make the top 5 this year and Djoko might drop a few spots?

Saying he is not going to win a slam ever is a bit harsh. At least give him a chance as an under dog please.

As for the grand slams, as long as no single one player is dominant, I am happy. If there are black horses to knock Nadal off French and Federer off US open occasionally( I am a Federer fan but I think I should be fair), I will be even happier.

Are you unhappy right now then?( with one player holding 3 slams out of the last 4...)

I really thought the Australian Open was Djokovic's best chance for winning this year. I'm thinking Nadal French, Nadal/Federer Wimbledon, and Murray US Open. Of those I guess Djokovic could win the US Open.

this is how i feel about Djoko as of late

I don't know...i think it's his intensity...a lot of the things he was criticized for on this forum have all but disappeared...

He doesn't beat his chest as much
His parents aren't there
He isn't making rash statements
toned down the ball bouncing
No more imitations

When these things disappeared....so did his intensity...this isn't the same Nole who won the AO

You can hardly call him arrogant these days but was losing the arrogance a good trade off for intensity and consistency?

I do like him though, he's #4 on my list of favorites

I don't think most of the Djokovic hate is deserved at all, really. So he needs to toughen up a bit. Federer had a laundry list of his own problems at that age. Come to think of it, most players do. We're talking about people here guys, not superhumans.

I enjoyed the chest pounding and such.
I really like how he applauds his opponents good shots. I think us americans might not understand his heritage and culture. I have never met a serbian before.

Agree. Players are normal human beings with different personalities and different problems.

As on-lookers, we can certainly love some more but we can also certainly hate others less.

I'm not a real fan of Djoker, but I like him. I guess many ppl dislike him because he retires a lot etc etc, but IMO he's just a great guy. He ain't cocky, just confident, and respects his opponents! Also ppl don't like him bouncing the ball a lot? But I just find it funny, a lot of things he do is funny.:)

No. It is not a good trade off at all. Hope he can find himself again. Smashing rackets might be an option. Hey, Safin smashed so many rackets and was massively popular. Give Djoker an outlet to let his emotions out. It doesn't hurt anyone except the rackets.

Federer can show more emotions on court occassionally if it does help to calm down mentally quickly, I think. Don't need to be all bottled-up.

If Djokovic fainted and vomited all over the court at 2-5 in the 4th set with Roddick serving it out, would it then be all right for him to forfeit?

When Murray starts to get good results on clay then he might overtake them, the three people above them can adapt to all types of courts, while Murray hasn't proven yet that he can hit through the clay

No I do not think Tsonga will hit Top 5.

He has a great game and definitely great net skills... but he can't seem to hang around uninjured long enough to do anything big.

Tsonga is like a thorn in Novaks' side, his game doesn't match up well. Tsonga is super confident against Novak and plays aggressive on every ball. Makes it really uncomfortable for the Djoker

This is true, i think fed was wrong to criticize djoko the way he did, he may have had a point but i just think he was out of order, i like the way karma came back and bit em in the @$$, choking in the 5th and then crying like a girl,

this is why nadal is the man, minds his business, isnt critical of other players and focuses on winning slams, look at the sympathy he should for fed at the AO, he let the trophy celebration become a lets feel sorry for Fed moment, and just think Fed is 5 years older

anyway back to Novak, he is going to win more slams, if he wants, hes still maturing mentally, going through a rebellious stage of sorts, he is a great talent and has alot of personality, to me he is still one of the most exciting players to watch, so yea im still a fan, you werent really a fan anyway if you just liked em during the good times, thats just jumping the bandwagon and thats common

to all the haters, keep it up, i love it, that just adds excitement to his comeback, if all fans were like me sports would be boring:)

Gees. You are really gracious.

I mean, I talked about my favorite player, Roger, and wish Roger and Djoker on better terms in future with no intention to judge either of them.

I can hardly believe you are jumping on this and turn this into Nadal better than Feder thread.

No offense but i come from a neutral standpoint, i can see where a federer fan would be upset, what i did was not as much judging as recalling actual events, i am a fan of federer also and I defend him often on these threads,

btw i cant believe thats all you got from my post, i think we can all learn something from nadal, not being bias just honest, you make it sound like your the op and i just hijacked

No offense from my part as well. I might have becoming overly sensitive after reading so many pointless Federer vs Nadal posts... probably I should only come back to this forum when there are real matches going on...

BTW, I do think minding your own business is wise. But Roger is by nature more outspoken and his fluent English and long-standing number one status give him more exposure to the media. I also believe he made his points with good faith.

No one can please everybody anyway. There are suspecisions that Nadal's humility is a fake act... What can we say?

ho jebesus crisis... may the godlike creatures forbid me to come across a certain post of your...

I think he could be the next Lendl if he takes his conditioning more seriously. Not sure he's going to do it, but it'd be fun to watch. He has the game. It's just a matter of being focused enough for a long enough period of time on the court for him. Fun to watch. Hard to watch him fade physically in matches, and when I've seen him lose that is almost universally the theme. Not sure he'll ever be loved, but he may get to the level of "underrated" champion...
