Which came first? The Donnay Pro Cynetic One or the Wilson ProStaff 6.0 85? Because they look like clones of each other. No wonder Sampras was able to so easily switch from the Pro Cynetic One to the ProStaff when he first turned pro.

The Wilson PS original was first, i think it was 1983 without bumper and 1984 with bumper. The Donnay PC 1 came out in early 1986.
dont forget Donnay had several models out of the PC mould, and stiffer ones...

Thank you guys. I love these racquets, especially the one with actual Arias string set up. There is still life pulsing in them :)

Btw, anyone know what are the sets of numbers on the stickers:

354/333? 353.5/332.5? It seems like the balance.
58/56? Tension for the hybrid (NG/Luxilon)
WH #15, 456?

Could you please, post a list of them (pictures?)

more pictures of different graphics. The earlier has version DONNAY on both sides, no code, and no balance point.

I noticed that some racket like this one has a sticker that says light, medium, etc. is this referring to the flex rating or something else?

Back in the day racquets were sold in different weights. Super Light, Light, Light Medium, and Medium

Static weight and swingweight... probably unstrung

SW? hmmm ... I think they are much heavier than 354g but I need to weight them.

BTW, is it still possible to find 1 grommets set for PC1 somewhere?

out of my head, pro ceramic 1 & 4, carbomid, turbo ceramic, GTX, Borg Graphite (although the beam width is different the mould is the same...)

thank you ... but mould can't be the same if beam width is different :)

... that's how I got a Lacoste with 90 sq inch head but 22-29 mm high-beam :(

Not exactly the same but what i meant is, when you put all the rackets together (on top of each other) you wont see any difference, the measurements are the same, get the point?

ps: care to trade an Arias for a Lacoste? ;-)

sure, thanks for explanation .... so the mould is different, right? :)

Do you have some? What kind? I'm slowly and secretly accumulating a certain type, you know what I'm talking about.

What about a pristine LT 320 with an extra set of grommets and original cover? :)

These were my first graphite racquets as a kid - I know I had them before I went to college in the fall of '84, so I'd actually bet that they were out by either '83 or '84. The 6.0 85's were around, too and when I did a Pepsi Challenge between them, I really loved the feel of the Donnays. I got mine back from a buddy who borrowed them for a bit and I might string one up with some multi or natural gut to use on special occasions.

The racquet that I switched away from was the Dunlop Maxply Fort. After starting out with one or two of those in the "Light" weight range, the last one I got was a "Medium" and MAN I adored that tree trunk. As a teenage serve and volleyer on grass courts (mostly), that heavy stable frame was a gem. If I can find it, I'll put it on a scale and report back. Details at eleven...

Picked up a Pro Cynetic 1 off the auction site a few weeks ago...what a great racquet! Noticed there are also a couple of Pro Cynetic's (without the 1 in the model designation - see image below). Anyone know the difference? Made in Belgium so perhaps from the year before Donnay started numbering them?

I've been hitting with a PS 85, and these do play similarly. Not the same mold though as I've seen suggested elsewhere (different string pattern, headshape).

That photo was of a later one after the numbering at the end of production. String pattern has nothing to with the mold of a racquet.

Thanks vsbabolat. I guess I thought most of the numbered ones were made in Taiwan, and this one is Belgium. Is it essentially the same racquet then as the original Pro Cynetic 1?

460873553_o.jpg

So was the chronology like this?
(Belgium)
Pro Cynetic 1
Pro Cynetic 12
Pro Cynetic

(Taiwan)
Pro Cynetic 1
Pro Cynetic 2
Pro Cynetic 3
Pro Cynetic 4

That is a photo of the original Pro Cynetic 1! Just look at the first page of this thread!
There was a whole huge line made with that mold made in Belgium.
Those Taiwan ones have nothing to do with the originals and were from 1992.

vsbabolat, I know what I'm posting pictures of.
What I want to know is the difference between the very light gray, made in Belgium Pro Cynetic (from post #32) versus the darker gray, made in Belgium Pro Cynetic 1 (from post #33).

I only own the Pro Cynetic 1, and it is fantastic.

I believe the very Pro Staff 85-esque mould obviously sired the original Pro Cynetic 1, Pro Cynetic 12 (which was identical to the 1, but with the addition of an adjustable weight tuning system), the Pro Ceramic, and others, made in Belgium. The grey "Pro Cynetic" pictured above was probably the last variant from that mould, before Donnay reused the Pro Cynetic name in 1993 for four models (Pro Cynetic 1, 2, 3, and 4): chunky cross-section midplus-sized frames made in Taiwan, which were totally different from the first series of Pro Cynetics.

I have a 1st-gen Pro Cynetic 1 and a Pro Cynetic 12 - very nice classic performance racquets.

Hi,

Does anyone know if Donnay released back in the day a racket with the PS 85 mold with a 16*18 pattern and 6 holes in the throat of the racket?
Do you know if a bumper guard can be added to a bumperless racket?
