Will be in town for a conference and hoping to hit some while in town.
If anyone is available or interested shoot me a PM or reply.
Looking anywhere from 4.0-5.0. I am a computer 5.0, but do not consider myself that good for obvious reasons.
Staying in the area near I-5 and Cabrillo Hwy. I see courts nearby but not sure what is accessible to public. Will be using Public Transit as I'll have no car.

Thanks,
Jason

I assume your conference is business and that you are staying south of the I-5.

Balboa Park is on the corner of I-5 and Cabrillo Fwy so you can take a short cab or bus or just walk over to it. Upper portion of Babloa park is the Balboa tennis club so you should be good.

Yeah I'll be making the 20 minute walk to the Convention Center on a daily basis but will be done by afternoon most days.

Thanks for heads up.

Just bumping in case anyone gets free.
Looking at 3.5 to 5.0 level hitting partners.

one last bump, anyone know players around Coronado or City College, may just need to call Balboa and ask for players if it comes down to it.

Thanks

Man. I can't believe nobody in the 619 is up for it :(

I live in WA but have lived in SD in the past and have relatives there still. Just take you're racquets and go to Morley (Balboa) There are a ton of courts and you will have no problem finding some quality players there. Maybe you'll have to watch for a while but I bet you'll be able to set something up while you're there.

Good luck!

Thx e-mailed Geoff at Balboa and got a reply from a player so working on setting up a hit as well as transit to their.
Surprised also but it is all good and the weather is great.

Im in SD this week too would love to hit

I am about a 4.5 but USTA would put around a 5.0 too. Anyway would like to hit with you this week. Im here with my wife she is going to the same conference. My one issue is getting a racquet i neglected to bring my racquets. We are staying downtown SD. Let me know how to get a hold of you and we can arrange a time and place.

Even if you can't get a match set up, definitely check out Morley field in Balboa Park. Last time I played at Morley, there were two doubles challenge courts, and one of them was designated for "advanced" players - and from what I observed, this is an accurate description of the skill level. The players I saw in pickup doubles on the advanced court really are strong 4.0 and up. Another thing is that once you get there and people can see that you can play, you'll probably have no trouble sticking around and getting in some good singles play.

Matt just sent you a private message, use the number I sent and let me know if interested. or send me an e-mail: lyon.jason@gmail.com

Delano: Do you know anything about usage of the City College Courts? or the high school courts across the street? Area gets a little sketchy after walking over yesterday.

Sorry, never played at city college, so don't really know much about it. The best two pick-up tennis spots I know of in San Diego are the public courts in la jolla and morley field in balboa park. You're much closer to Morley, short cab ride or bus ride, so that's probably your best bet.

Man I wish I had seen this earlier. I was at a friend's place this weekend and left last night, he lives on Park Blvd. I live in North County SD but would have loved to have come out and hit.

What did you find different between SoCa and AR 5.0 players?

The guy last night was just solid player, I am being more dramatic, but the level was a little higher than the overall 5.0 level back home, had a great time last night and might try it again tonight if the knees will hold up. Pounding the pavement in downtown SD wears you out.
