Will any player ever win at least 10 titles on clay, grass, hard, and indoor again?

Do you think another player will ever wn at least 10 titles on clay, grass, hard gain?

Obviously, you know who the only player to have ever done this is.

Nadal? No, only 3 grass titles and is nearing the end of his career.
Djokovic? No, only 1 fluke title on grass.
Murray? LOL
Raonic? LOL
Nishikori? No.
Tomic? LOL

It doesn't look likely in the near future.

If I was to go by the current schedule I would say it will be tough, but it's not impossible IMO. It shows his all around ability, but I don't think it's a record that will never be matched again. If someone is good on HC they will win 10 titles both indoor and outdoor. If they are good/great on HC, then there's a fair chance they're pretty good on grass although there are exceptions, and it's hardest to win 10 titles on grass since the players only get 2 chances a year, and that's if they play both, and one is a major. If you wanted to win 10 titles on clay, and you were pretty good on the stuff, you could do what Ferrer does every year, and just avoid Nadal by going to South America early in the year.

No.

Probably an accurate statement. Maybe Murray? When nadal is gone he can bag clay titles, there's plenty to go around. The grass season is being expanded so with luck and enough tournaments played he could maybe do it. And as for hard courts, he should be fine.

I don't think he'll do it, but if no other contenders emerge and fed and nadal retire, he has a shot.

If he steadily improves on the surface, by the time Federer and Nadal are gone, is it really too hard to see him getting 2 per year?

Yes, but how long will it take for Murray to improve? By the time he improves he'll have gotten worse. I meant to say that btw. It's not like time stops for Murray. He gets older too. He won't be winning 10 titles on clay. Period.

Sampras won 10 titles on grass and that was his best surface. For Murray to win 10 on hc, clay, grass and indoor, that's too much to ask.

Just because of the minute amount of grass tournaments, you will have to be a grass BEAST to be able to do this. Nadal is not that good on grass plus he is likely too old to win 7 more, Djokovic will never do it either. So find a grass dominator and MAYBE they can do it, there would be plenty of hardcourt chance but then the big challenge would be clay. When Nadal is gone it may be possible - by then all surfaces will be near identical

Seems unlikely. Players only typically play 2 grasscourt tournaments a year, and one of them is Wimbledon. Practically, you have to be a multi-wimbledon-winner (probably 4-5 Wimbledons at least) to get 10 grass titles.

Likewise with indoor. The indoor 'season' is also pretty short.

I'm sure.. All it takes is for someone to dominate their era and to be pretty injury free.

I mean its more likely that happens then some guy getting two calendars and winning 199 tournaments like Laver.

The only record Roger has that I dont think will be surpassed (at least any time soon) will be the QF and SF streak.

Other then that.. Yes. I'm sure the rest of the records will be surpassed. Hell it took less then 10 years for Pete's records to be surpassed.. It will probably take around the same time (or a bit longer) for Roger's records to be surpassed.

Sampras' records didn't last long because he "just" barely broke the previous ones. Federer is absolutely smacking them and creating new. As much as someone breaking his GS record, 300 weeks at no 1, no of titles is possible, nobody will ever break the QF/SF streak, overall consistency, 2 majors won 5 in a row (the most underrated Federer record IMO), at least 5 finals in all 4 majors, 11 majors in 4 years, his record in 2004-2007 etc.

Sampras had bad luck to have Federer come along so soon after him. If Nadal does not break Federer's records, no one will for a while imo. And Nadal is almost certainly not going to top 300 weeks at number one. After Djokovic,Murray etc, there are no outstanding players coming up, so there could actually be a dry spell before you see a sampras/Federer again.

with regards to someone doing what is spoken of in this topic, if allone has to do is dominate their era, there would have been several players winning 10 or more titles on grass, clay, hard and indoor and i think Federer is the only one?. Sampras dominated his era but couldn't win enough on clay, while Federer not even dominating clay could. No player apart from Federer has been so good on all surfaces, so there is no evidence someone would do this again. And now it's even harder with less grass tournaments.

All of Federer's records (every last one of them) could be broken 10 years from now. Or they could last a couple of centuries. There's absolutely no way to tell.

Someone is yet to be born who can break Fed's record.

A player has to be probably in his late twenties or early thirties to even come close to Fed's record.

So, Fed is untouchable till 2050 at least.

Yes. There are a lot of Clay specialists, and Murray won't become one in "short time" (next four years). You always will have the spanish armada, Gasquet or my fellow countryman Bellucci to give him a bad time on the dirt.

Most of these records will be broken. It'll probably take a long time but when you have a gifted athlete with a drive to succeed and a goal to aim for, they'll perform miracles.

Depends. You mean in mars history? Or jupiter? Maybe world?

:)

You got to remember indoor is not a legit surface, that is why there is no slam played on it.
And you know who the only player in world history to win slams on all other surfaces is......

There is no way on earth Murray will win 10 titles on clay. Nadal is only a year older and you forgot about djokovic who could dominate clay without Nadal and who is the same age as Andy. even if somehow Murray won 2 clay titles a year it would still take him 5 years. not going to happen.

Nadal can end up with 10 titles on clay and hard but not grass. djokovic can also make 10 on clay if he does really well, bit don't see Murray even making 10 on grass or clay.
