paulman -- if we are still super awesome 4.0's - let's dominate both the 40+ league and the 18+ league as team monkeypaus. you can be thunder and i'll be lightning. only i'm not as fast as lightning so i'm more like a tropical depression. Thunder & Tropical Depression 2013. Bringing rain and depression to a court near you.

Auzzie -- i'm sorry i missed your visit. i see now that i have been relegated to the not quite good enuff to hit with the king of sandbags list. now i'm tropically depressed. :(

CB / Wookie -- Lunch wednesday?

everyone -- what's for lunch now?

I'm working remotely from the outskirts of Endor Wed. Try lunch Tuesday???

Do you have a brine recipe? If not, plenty on the web. I like Alton Brown's recipe. I've even did this which was pretty good. Use Apple Juice and Water and dial down the sugar for the brine. Helps to make the skin GBD (golden brown and delicious) and has a good apple taste too.

I have a good apple cider brine recipe at home. Brine + Grill/Smoke over apple wood or maybe pecan or walnut wood is freaking delicious - but it takes a few hours to cook.

I can email it to you if you want.

paulman -- you got mail mofo.

wookie -- you also got mail mofo.

auzzie -- i think it's funny that you have to weigh yourself down with ankle weights just to make hitting with us slugs worthwhile.

CB -- i like alton brown too. he makes cooking seem like chemistry which is oddly kinda cool. i will suggest to the women folk apple juice and water. my plans on thursday involve me sitting in front of a big tv and watching the woeful redskins hopefully take out the equally woeful cowboys.

TM - I got a Brine and Grill/Smoke recipe for turkey if you want it.

definitely, in exchange, I promise not to do a Bouncing Betty attack on you for the first 10 minutes when we play. =)
Do I need to go to the ends of Endor to get wood for this smoke recipe?

I heard you can improve your health if you try to swim with this thing on. Has anyone tried before? *grin* "Kids don't try this at home."

Thought we could make our opps laugh so hard introducing ourselves they wouldn't be able to concentrate and lose by default...

Brining fowl is the way to go. I've done chicken a few times but not Turkey as in our Thanksgiving holidays we do a big family dinner and my brother-in-law does them. For some variety, I'm smoking 15-20 pork shoulder instead for the feast.

JRK -- what is involved in this brining process? you invite a different family for thanksgiving? how do you select these families?

CB -- i'm not sure being compared to starscream is a compliment or not.

check this out. it's thanksgiving dinner for 10 in a box at costco:

Costco%20Thanksgiving%20004.jpg

tmonk: I think the good outweigh the bad:
1. You can play tennis anywhere and anytime cause you can turn into a jet fighter and be anywhere within one sec.
2. You don't have to worry about parking anymore cause you are the transportation.
3. Best of all. If you don't like your tennis opponent or just seconds before losing a match, you can use your laser cannon attached to your arm and blast him/her. Game won by default.

Who cares if you have a scratchy voice and get beaten up by Megatron and Autobots.

i care, CB. i care.

HW -- looky what i found on the JO spice website:
J.O. Wild Game / Waterfowl / Poultry Seasoning - Great on Wild Turkey, Pheasant, Chicken, Venison and other Wild Game. Just rub on meat, cook and eat!! Use as a marinade with oil or to baste the meat while cooking. Add to rice or vegetables for a more flavorful taste.

I have some friends coming down from Balt for thanksgiving. Planning to ask them to visit the JO store to pick me up some of this rub you guys are talking about.

I am on their website and there's alot of varieties. Anyone recommend one for BBQ?

I'll say it first and manage it: Hollywood cooking with Jo. Followed by his series of how to know you're dating a lesbian.

I think it should be MonkeyPause becuase TM is always saying how slow he is and bad knees and stuff.

Curious if Jo makes it onto your thanksgiving meal?

Ive never tried the other seasonings they got they got so many. I just use the JO #1 on stuff like, corn, veggies, salads, meat, sandwiches, soup, gravy, popcorn, fish, and whatever else that is not ice cream ( I tried that once but it just stuck to the bottom of the spoon and I ended eating like a TBSP of JO at the end)

Ill swing in Mars today and see if they got they Game seasong. The sell #1 in 5lb tubs si they may have it.

Probably also need to pen one o those novelty books you see near cash registers: hollywood's memorable quotes.

Now if I can make sappy into a cartoon.

Paulman and tennismonkey= Paulman and the Monk-i

Though Paulman I'm not sure if you are large and in charge, so you'll have to explain who monk-i is amongst you 2.

Thejrk= I'm a little surprised you do the cooking. My impression of you is probably stained from your guacamole accident.. Well from most of your accidents. Figure the last place peeps want you near is flames, knives and raw meats.

I'll email it out tonight.

You're local home depot should have enough wood for your needs - heck, I can give you some if you want. I'm not grilling this thanksgiving and I think I have some left over woodchips -I'll take a look.

I use this recipe http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/good-eats-roast-turkey-recipe/index.html

I don't put it in a bucket though. I put the brine in a really big plastic bag and then throw the turkey in the bag with the brine. Then throw the whole thing in the fridge. It's like a giant water balloon, except with brine and a turkey inside.

We adopt the families for X-mas not Thanksgiving. We work with a local charity in DC. This year, all the families come from parents who are veterans. They send the charity a list of what their kids would like (parents too) and we buy the gifts for them. Wrap them up and take them to the charity. We don't deliver them to the families directly.

Sometimes the family just wants clothes, other times they are more specific. Last year the mom said she was going to college to get her Associates Degree so we bought her a laptop. They had twin girls that always wanted to rollerblade so we got them a bunch of stuff for that. I think we got the dad a suit and a nice watch as he was interviewing for jobs.

+1 internet points to JRK for helping vets. if karma is real - you won't be coming back as a slug in your next life. maybe something more awesome like a unicorn or a honey badger.

i am not so charitable. but i did see a guy in his 20's on rockville pike claiming he was a vietnam vet and i didn't throw quarters at him. so that has to count for something.

thanks. I got some hardwood at home too from my last smoked pork shoulder craze. Thanks again for the recipe!

I'll be on after 9:30pm tonight (if my 6 month old goes to sleep on time...) I'll be the knife runner tonight. Also works pretty well in Nuketown in the houses.

I'll be lucky if I get on tonight at all. Need to get in a bit earlier than usual tomorrow for a long-azz meeting so I'll try to head to bed early. But that may not happen as it seems to twins don't like to sleep until about 10 or 11pm.

Well, the wife and I haven't bought each other gifts in 5 or 6 years, so that's where the money comes from.

Now we still buy stuff for ourselves obviously... that's why I had 8 pairs of tennis shoes at one point, lol. All those shoes and I was still a terrible player. I looked good losing though.

thats a very awesome thing you do for the families. i say you are justified to buy more shoes for yourself

What's for lunch folks? Made Cholay yesterday on the slow cooker and it came up really well. It's part of my low fat, high protein diet. Let me know if anyone wants the recipe.
But why are ppl so chickpea adverse? I offer to make it as a side dish for TG, and all my relatives was running for the hills. Is it a bean thing?

i heard Activision just put it back... I hope it is true.

If they just made it available to everyone they wouldn't need to bull that BS of removing the map.

Easy way would be to give pre-orders exclusive access for the first few weeks or a month or two then allow everyone to download at a later date.

Glad ur home safe&sound auzzie! Thanks for hiiting with me duting ur visit. I know 100s if people wanted to see you so i feel honored!
i loved it! good job hitting, and good job making babies:) 4.5+ level for both
oh man
i want a rematch against auzzie. last time we played he easily bageled me in like 4 min. while tying his shoes.
remember that crazy wind. hit the ball towards the doubles alley on one side, and it would fly to the doubles alley on the opposite side of the court!
Auzzie -- i'm sorry i missed your visit. i see now that i have been relegated to the not quite good enuff to hit with the king of sandbags list. now i'm tropically depressed. :(
I wish I could take that seriously! Last year when we hit you were hitting me off the court! Unfortunately, just didn't schedule enough time in the US to really do much
Yeah, I wasn't good enough for the King of Sandbags either - I just decided to crash the party since I knew where they were hitting! I had heard he was hitting unbelievably so I came out and tested the King with some tough DEEP pokes (twss) into the corners and he had no trouble repeatedly digging them back. No lie - the King is standing tall.
takes a sandbagger to recognize a sandbagger, but the biggest one of all is Downs!!! Love that you're still super nimble with those five finger kicks!! And I hate hitting with your frames, because I think about them for weeks afterwards!

Hey I've been thinking about those Prince pro stocks too! Liked how they responded and played. 58 on Sensor was a bit too tight tension for me though...haha

was auzzie still ripping backhand angle winners with that darn prince pro stock???
my neck still has whiplash from watching him blast those by me about 20 times. SNIFF!

PaulMan

Dats, luckily for me - no. When I arrived I had maybe 30 mins to burn. So he let me try his BBO pro stock one and he grabbed my Radical Tour to try. Then a lil later he tried out my original Toms Machine. Plus, Downs and I were on one side so he had less angles to play with. We were pretty much just hitting good 20 shot rally type shots, not trying for winners.

I made the Strikpiece Turkey Brine. Except I couldnt find Fresh Sage, Summer Savory, Marjoram, or any of that stuff. So I dumped a box of Bells seasoning in the mix. Added some J.O. (obviously) and am know waitin to wake up tommorrow mornig to start smoking.

I'll probably just get a Fresh Sandy Brook Turkey. Since I brine, i can get almost any turkey. I think I'll brine and salt rub my turkey this year as well.

I got a Giatt turkey once, Since it's min processed, I remember doing alot of feather plucking and even though they pre-brine, it wasn't brined enough.
