Just bought the racquet, good conditions. Can't wait to play with it. Racquet feels not too much heavy, despite its declared weight. beautiful paint-job, first time for me to own a Yonex. it is a good frame?

One of Yonex's best. The 90 square inch version cured my tennis elbow. It weighed in at around 14+ ounces and was a beast.

The RD Tour is my absolute favorite cosmetic of all time. The trinagular beam and the "window" at 12 o'clock showing the braided graphite makes this racquet beautiful.

Great find.

Rabbit, thank you so much. do you think that the frame should be strung with a multi (or natural gut) or a modern co-poly?

Hi Cesare,

it's a very nice racquet. I'd start out with a nice multi, but don't remember the frame to be extremely string sensitive. Something that worked really well in a similar racquet, the RD-7, was a Bab Nat Gut - Lux BB combo. I love old Yonexes, they don't really come more solid than this.

Yours is the larger head version? I used those in early 90s, headlight, generates easy spin, powerful frame but not harsh for elbow

The srd90 is the midsize more popular version supposedly used by the pros

Hmm, that reminds me - I got a 95 recently - must take it out for a spin tomorrow. I agree about the paint job - stunning!

this racquet is awesome. I love the flex and the solid feel. I do wish it had a little more power.

The biggest problem is the cheap throat grommets that break apart easily.... I had to order replacements from Canada.

The great Dino, how are you doin'? you know, in this period i'm very happy with my old Volkl C10 Comp mid. underrated racquet, and probably the best Volkl mid ever, at least for my game. in this one, i have the x-one biphase 17, and it works so great, but i think i'm going to follow your string suggestions for my new frame.

yes, i remember Krajicek playin' with the 90" version. my 95" version looks really like a modern 98" yonex headsize

I have one, rock solid frame....really, one of those frames that kinda swings itself.

Thought about putting it in my bag but I could never find another one. I am now solidly committed to Head 18x20 frames so search for a mate is over.

Super RD 95 is solid off the ground, serves nicely and volleys ok.

Enjoy!

truly a masterpiece! one of the best i've ever seen, along with the rd 7 and the rdx 500, not to mention about the Rd ti 70, that Ferrari red(sorry, i'm italian) was very hot!

haha... "window". Love it. Back in 95ish that was the pimp. Now almost all racquets, show the braid. Would love for someone to NOT paint a racquet and leave the braid showing. That would sell.

Amen to your assessment of the C10 Comp mid, it's indeed a great stick! I hybrided mine, using nat gut/multi. Can't remember which strings exactly, it's been a few years since I played it. That's the downside of having hundreds of racquets and playing sparingly...

Cesare, have you had a chance to string the SRD 95 up yet? Which string and tension did you go for? How did it play?

Dino, yes. i've strung the srd 95 two times.First, with my usual tecnifibre set up: black code 17 at 22,5 kg mains, x-one biphase 17 at 24,5 crosses. it doesn't work well, then i've soon cut it off. Second time, i went with the tecnifibre Nrg2 17 full bed, 24 mains, 23 crosses. Overall a great string, Imho. the racquet now hits very solid groundstrokes, with depth and accuracy. i also like very much the serve and volley with this stick. backhands are just like heaven. But in this very moment nothing can take me away from my 3 volkl c 10 comp mids. i'm just so in love with that german masterpiece..

Dino, would you please post a picture, if it's possible, of your Volkl c7 comp mid?taking a look to your Rdc Log, i notice that you own one. I've never seen that frame.Thank you so much.

well, I love this racket but just getting back into tennis, I needed something a little lighter and with more power... the Becker London was the closest thing I found to the Super Rd Tour that had a similar feeling in dwell time on the string bed and comfort.

I played with the SRD Tour 95 and loved it. It's definitely not for the faint of heart as it's very "old school" in static weight and swingweight. I played full multi as the frame tends to play fairly stiff. I needed something to cushion things a bit.

How did it go? How do you string yours? Great racquet, isn't it? :)

Hi! Yes, great racket!! I strung it with Polytour Pro 125, at around 56lbs. Plays great, not as powerful and not as much spin as the racket I play with now (Vcore 95), but great control, balance and weight.
When I restring it, I'll most likely do a hybrid with the Yonex 850.

Reviving this thread because I am now comparing the Super RD Tour 95 to the V-core G330, following a discussion on this other thread

http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/do-new-rackets-really-help-your-game.562892/

Coincidence makes that I also included an RD 7.. Two 20yo rackets against top of the line 2013 crop (I think). Specs are really close for the Super RD and the G 330. Any other users of the Super RD or RD-7 these days? Or has everyone moved on?

I like RD -7 very much. Got three of them in a small variations of pj. I can hit big with this gun.

I'm moving back to them. I just ordered 4 new Super RD Tour 95s new and two used excellent condition ones. I also ordered a brand new RD-7. At 37, nothing ever came as close to my Super RD Tour 95 so I went old school. I'll string them at a high tension with a multi. I'm interested in seeing how the RD-7 reacts to a Poly, Pro Tour 125, Poly Tour Spin or Spin G at a low tension....I know this is not the stringing forum apologies in advance but advice is welcome. When half the touring HEAD Pros are playing with a 20 + year old fame why not Yonex. I've tried many times to get across to Yonex Reps, started petitions, trying to have at least one "legacy frame" but they're all over the top about "new technology"...which I'll say the High Modulus Interwoven Graphite rocked and is does ! Maybe they'll release a 25th anniversary RD-7....but fat chance. :( BTW fixing the throat grommets on two has been a nightmare, some have dried out, some are fine but I spent two hours yesterday "fixing" a set with silicone caulk...:/ Glad I have one spare Grommet set!

Yeah, I love the RD-7. One of the people I hit with has one, she's about a 3.0 but she doesn't seem to have any trouble with the headsize, surprisingly.

There should not be any problems with headsize, it's 95, she could has some problems with the weight. For sure you don't know her racquet's weight. One from mine three is heavier than other two, i will let you know soon, just looking for scales.

I played the Super RD Tour 95 many years ago and it's my favorite Yonex by far. I, personally, put it ahead of the RD-7 because the RD-7 always felt a little clunky through the air whereas the SRD Tour 95 felt more nimble. The response of of the stringbed was so solid. It's my number 2 racquet of all time behind the Fischer VT Pro 98.

So two of mine three RD-7 are 362gr each, but third is 374gr. And i also put some weight on first two.

Wow, didn't realize the racquet was that heavy.
I just figured that at 3.0 she would have some trouble with a midsize head, because of the fact that midsizes are less forgiving (although the RD-7 is an exception, really)

RD-7 is not a midsize one, it's a midplus racquet,
95 inch head.

BorgCash

Then that would mean the midsize racquet is virtually extinct, no?

It's a well known fact because of new strings mostly (that's why the playing became so boring now), though some pros continue to use real midsize racquets, Haase plays with Head Prestige Mid (nominally 93 but really 89,5 sq in).
