confused on mains and skips. need guidance

just got a pk q15. stringing pattern is the following:
16 Mains/ 19 Crosses Mains skip: 8H,7T,9T Share: 9H,10T Two Pieces

is it fair to say I just skip the 7,8,9th hole for mains and share mains and crosses on 9th and 10th? and it is parallel threading right? meaning goes in on 1H of the throat, goes out the 1T of the head and so forth.

sorry it sounds confusing. I remembered stringing a Wilson hammer OS a year ago, and it had a weird pattern where I went in 8T and it threads out on 9T or something like that.

thanks for the help. after two years of stringing I am still learning.

Hi, you need to pay attention to the H & T designation. This tells you where the hole to skip is. H is head and T is throat.

What this tells me is that the frame has 16 mains and that they end at the throat, so you'll tie off the mains at the bottom.

You'll start your crosses at the top (Head) of the racquet.

When stringing the racquet, your first two mains are referred to as hole 1. To know which hole to skip, you'll need to count over. The same applies to the throat. So when you're pulling mains, when you get to the 8th hole over from the middle on both the right and left sides, skip it and go to the 9th hole. that's where you'll string your next main.

thx Rabbit, so in other words it is skipping the 7,8,&9th hole then.

I guess I am lucky to have the racquet strung first, I will take plenty of pics.

Nope. He's saying that you skip the 8th holes from center at the head (8H), and skip the 7th and 9th at the throat (7Tand 9T). So essentially you're skipping in six places, 8H left and right main, 7T left and right main, and 9T left and right main. If you have to, mark these holes with some white out or something so you don't get effed up. It seems like you should know this since you've strung before, but the fact that you over simplified things the way you did makes me think you don't have the fundamental understanding of stringing patterns down, and are confused by the terminology.

I think you are correct. you skip the 7th grommet hole at the bottom, 8th at the top, and finally the 9th at the bottom. Your second and next to last cross will share a grommet hole with the outside mains at head and throat.

And it won't all be "parallel threading" as you refer to it. Once you get to 7th holes, notice the 7H (head) will be going to 8T (throat), since 7T (throat)is one of the holes you skip for the mains. As I said above, before stringing just mark the holes you skip with white out or something. Then you can just work your way from the center out, being sure to skip the marked holes. You wont have to worry about specifics like 7H goes to 8T, 9H goes to 9T etc. Just be sure to skip the holes you are supposed to skip, and move to the next.

All mains are parallel and all crosses are parallel but perpendicular to the mains. The grommet holes are what is not parallel.

EDIT: Just watch to make sure all strings stay parallel and evenly spaced and you will see it is really easy. When you're done with the mains you 17 open grommet holes on each side (enough for 17 crosses) remember the outside mains on each side share holes with the crosses. If you skip over those holes you will see a big gap in your crosses.
