Why not, let's pay attention to Challengers too...

whats your son's name and did he qualify for a future??

He prefers that I keep his name out of a public forum so please respect that.

Yeah he did win 4 rounds (3 against guys with ATP points) to make the main draw, but the 1st round isn't going well so far.

BTW, this is 3 outta 4 that he's won 4 rounds to make main draw (not bad for 17), but so far no luck with the 1st point. Hopefully soon.

he got four matches in, which is great. getting points wont br an issue if he can consistently.beat ranked guys week in week out.

R Harrison gets through another match today. Plays Donald Young tomorrow. Should be interesting. I got Harry.

Kudla Klahn up next.

G.O.A.T.

Thanks for posting this. I was banned so couldn't post yesterday but I got to watch the last 2-3 games and it was perfect quality, better than normal ATP matches. That Daniel is an interesting fellow. I'm always rooting for asian players although I have to admit I wasn't too impressed with his tennis/technique. Looked a bit sloppy to me. I wasn't impressed by Ryan's tennis either, he should beat these guys more easy if he wants to reach the top of the world.

is it just me, or are the weight of shot of these two guys off the ground just not top-50 caliber? seems like young and harrison (and a lot of young american pros in general) don't have the amplitude in spin, so to speak, on their groundies. most of their forehands are somewhat hard but with a predictable amount of topspin.

Harrison has been criticized for using too much spin, not enough drive on his FH. Both guys doing quite of bit of reverse (over the head) follow thru on FH, to enhance spin production and both guys have been inside top 50.

Young's serve is slow, if it wasnt lefty it would get crushed.

Sekou Bangoura is having one of his best pro results at Tallahassee Challenger where he is in Semi of doubles. On court now. Looks to be playing well, nice angle volley.

related: how old was he when he started beating his old man consistently

Before i hit with him last Sunday, I would say i'd be lucky to get a game or two. Now i'd say its hard to win points, especially 2 or 3 in a row.

First match at early 14 (I was trying to hold him off to 15, but too good). 15's, i was done. But come on, he just threw down a bagel 2nd set and woulda won easy 62,60 with better mental/exp. Lost 6-4 in 3rd to #450ish last week. Hits a clean ball!

Any one see Kudla df the 2nd set?

This is a good scrap!

A few USA Jr's in F12 by WC and qually. Some interesting results.

Tough draw for line 31.

Wicked TB and small upset by line 30.

Looks like line 27 quallied and got 1st point with an upset.

What a battle by Q line 19.

Line 10 lost to ATP 900ish last week and beat #3 seed there.

Jurgen Melzer's bro climbing the ranking too.

Line 22, the other Podzus twin finally got his 1st pt as well. I think he had qualied a couple times before, plus at least 1 LL, but wasn't able to close out a match till now.

Rob C, did you happen to notice the other Podzus twin results in Tampa F13 quals? I heard in the 3rd round of qualls he was down 4-1 in the first and even though the other guys had tons of chances, he won all the big points. He must be carrying lots of momentum from getting that 1st point.

USA SoCal 18 yo Ernesto Escobedo with a quarterfinal challenger appearance at Binghamton will move up close to ATP 500 at least.

Young guns Escobedo and Kokkanakis out. EE looked like he would advance but lost a bit of focus late in the 2nd and thats all it took.

TK had a tough opponent but looked solid.

Good runs and nice point gains.

As a fan of British players Im happy to see Daniel Cox in the semis at Binghampton. Is he related to Mark Cox?

His middle name is Mark but I can find no other link between them.

Meanwhile, Muller has racked up another Challenger title, winning five straight-set matches on HCs in Recanati, Italy.

He was in the commentary box today for the finals. He was saying how one gets different perspectives when away from the court vs in the court

Aussies turning Lexington Challenger into a home event...five of the 32-man main draw from Down Under. Duckworth and Kokkinakis still alive.

Speaking of home events, nice touch by Nieminen to play the Tampere Challenger this week in Finland. Kukushkin is also playing his home Challenger in Astana. Borat approves that move!

He lost with a bagel served in the third. Odd choice to play in Kazhakstan over Europe and the US.

Meanwhile, Goffin through to his third final in a row...plays homeboy Jarkko in Tampere, Finland tomorrow. He won in Holland and Poland. Slowly creeping back into the picture...now in the 80's rankings.

Goffin tearing it up on the Challengers circuit! 15-0 in July and 30-0 in set counts for three consecutive titles. Bolelli also ripping it up with a 15-match win streak.

Cuevas drops down to a Challenger tourney in the Czech Republic this week.

Darcis got a WC at Liberec...apparently the shoulder injury isn't career-ending as feared during Wimby qualifying. That's good news!

Darcis lost in 3 to Martin in the Liberec QFs. Great to see him back playing and hope that shoulder holds up!

Yes, let's pay attention to Challengers! How else could you learn early about Goffin's great big jump back into a decent ranking? Three wins in the minors and now a 250 title.

Hope he does well on HCs. I expect he'll try qualies in Cinci after a week of rest.
