Rank top 5 racquets that hit the heaviest ball in your opinion

From my limited experience

1) My hitting partner uses the PDRGT and puts a lot of top on the ball making it hard to handle. You really have to catch the ball on the rise which is never convenient.

2) I have tried a few Volkls (V1 Classic, organix 6, DNX 10) and have found the Volkl PB8 to have a great combination of head size, string pattern and weight to really put pop on the ball.

I'm currently flirting with a PD Roddick+. Always interested in this subject because I play on clay and you need a heavy ball on clay at the 4.5-5.0 level.

Are we talking of stock or leaded here. I reckon any players racket leaded and balanced right will hit a 'heavy' ball.

Bone stock I would say, in no particular order:

Wilson Kfactor 6.1 95 (both iterations)
Prince Ignite 95
Prince Rebel 95 (2009)
Head Pro Tour 630
Head Radical Tour Twin Tube

All time stock thumpers:

Max 200g
Pro Staff 85 SV
Head PC 600

Some rackets you can get today:

Dunlop Bio 200G
Becker London mid
Pacific Vacuum Pro 90
Pure Drive Roddick xl
Wilson 6.1 95 blx 16x18

... with lead I can make any racquet a beast... my modded Prestige MP has no lack of power. Power is mostly a factor of matching a stick to your strokes.

If we're including discontinued racquets, then the Yamaha Secret 04.

If we're talking current sticks, then the PK Ki5 PSE, Pure Storm Tour, 6.1 95 are some sticks that will hit a heavy ball, provided you can keep up your racquet head speed.

Pretty much anything heavy, is manuervable, and has a good shaped poly installed can hit a pretty damn heavy ball.

I find that quite interesting.

I only had two racquets so here we go.

1. Wilson 2012 BLX 95. Switching from my Babolat I thought the Wilson's smaller headsize would make a difference. It did. It taught me to hit more balls in the center and gave me more precision. Plow through was IMMENSE.

2. Babolat Pure Drive Roddick GT Plus. Had power but I felt it didn't have the plow through compared to my Wilson. This was my first adult racquet I ever used before switching to Wilson. Spent 5 years with this racquet.

when i was in my prime the pro staff classic version hit a very heavy ball. heaviest ball i've hit. only thing was back then poly wasn't easily available and the racquet tore through strings because of the open string pattern.

Oh man, the only one that needs to be said is the

Youtek IG Speed MP 315.

That bad boy hits the felt off the ball. It scrubs the print off the ball. It's so good. I love that frame. Probably one of the most under appreciated frames here. Can't believe TW gave it such a low review. They need to re-evaluate this one.

BTW, I like how ^ and ^^ has two votes going for the 6.1 BLX 16x18. I hit with that bad boy and i would totally agree. But it is a beast that can be untamed at times.

It is a BEAST... too much power for me but if I were in the mood to simply humiliate someone who cant handle pace and spin at the same time THAT would be the stick.

Thing is today that most solid 4.0 and above can handle pace... if you play with the 16x18 6.1 BLX you should have a lot of finesse just to offset all the boom with a little tickle. A frequent hitting partner of mine who used to use it just switched to the Dunlop Biomimetic 200 Tour. It has improved his game. Nearly the same ooomph but more subtlety and great at the net.

Prestige Professional. Heavy, stiff, open pattern and club head size isn't too large and lower SW for fast racquet face speed.

I play with/against this dude who uses Prestige Pros and hits a very heavy ball. One time his partner broke a string and no backup racquet so he loaned one of his Prestige Pros to him. Heavy balls suddenly came from both players!
I'll have to try it someday.

Considering changing to a radical pro from my k90.

Actually the K90 would be up in my top 5, if I am playing well and not tired. You must be able to swing the racquet properly, but if you do, you will hit a heavy and precise ball. The Radical Pro will give you some more free power. However, if that is what you want, you probably should try one of the Pure Drive models.

I do tire with my K90's after awhile, hence the switch to the Rad Pro. The Pure Drives don't have enough feel for me.

Heavy frame, high swing weight, strength, and technique...

Any stock frame over 330 grams should give you the "blank canvas" to customize and destroy the ball.

I love trying different racquets, to varying success. But one opponent that I always have great matches with will always make this comment "You hit good with that (insert racquet name), but those balls didn't have the power on them like from your Pro Staffs (reference to any of my 6.1 95 16x18's)".

The day he says that the balls were heavier and more powerful than from my Wilson's is the day I'll consider them not my main sticks!

So friggin' true...so why is the new "players" category filled with light stiff krap????

Thank god for "the Bay"...can replace with good old quality sticks.

Btw I think things like swing weight and stiffness should be included to make it more scientific... But I take that back because it is more fun to tell you about how me and this one dude were playing real hot and we cleaned a little strip of court about 2/3 into each others no mans land.

Wilson 6.1

What is it about the Wilson 6.1 that gives it such good plow? There are other racquets with similar weight, SW, etc. that don't come close.

Heaviest serves:
1. Babolat Pure Drives Roddick plus.

Heaviest groundies
1. Dunlop 500 Tours - cheap and nice
2. Prince EXO3 tour - with the right strings. Just pounds the balls.

Heaviest slice
1. Kinetic 7g, don't know why.

What tension and string do you put on the Prince Exo3 Tour and which string pattern you referring to? Usually a frame with such low stiffness doesn't end up in the heavy ball category.

parasailing has a good point. strings is also important. I think the best combo for heavy balls was kevlar and poly on a 105s that's leaded up to 12oz. but that was literally like taking a hammer and hitting it against my wrist/elbow. went thru tons of PT for that. it's addicting tho. i still ordered a few more kevlar 18gs for "those matches" that I want to "show off". LOL.

in all honesty, i really really love the kevlars. but there is no freaking way that i could last 1 month with it.
