Pacific X Fast Pro 100 ???

I've always wondered why you don't hear more about this racquet?
SW is a little low, but specs look good on paper. And evidently the Quality Control for Pacific/Fischer is some of the best. Any thoughts, reviews, opinions? Anyone every tried it? How does it compare to others with similar specs?

Scotus, found a couple of your posts on the x fast. So to summarize...you thought it was harsher then the pd? And you prefer the pd over the x fast? Is there anything you liked better about the Pacific?

After I felt some shock come through my arm, I put the racquet down.

To me, comfort is the most important factor in a racquet, so I did not bother to test it further.

It was a bit strange, because it still had that muted, slightly disconnected feel you get from those basalt Fischer/Pacific racquets, but I felt shock along with it, and it was strung with a multi.

Out of the bunch I demoed that day, the most comfortable was Volkl Organix V1 MP, followed by PD 2012 +, and then the Pacific.

Of course, I need to state again that my arm is very sensitive and this Pacific might very well be comfortable enough for the majority of tennis players.

i liked the x-fast pro. not enough to switch and buy one. but thought it was a very good all-around racquet.

I've had an X Fast Pro for a couple of months now and have the following observations:

- Very nice stick, similar to the 2012 Pure Drive
- Swings slightly lighter than my 2012 PD.
- Nice feel, better then my 2012 PD.
- Slightly more powerful than my 2012 PD
- Better feel on my volleys than the PD
- Does not feel as stiff as its 68 flex rating (I use hybrid of syn gut mains/poly crosses)
- Serves about the same - no real difference in pace/spin

Overall, this is a very nice stick that is a good alternative to the 2012 PD.

Over the years, Fischer (now Pacific) came out with several weird mash-ups of their well established designs -- the X Fast Pro falls into that category. Essentially, this is a Pro Tour with the head/beam thickness of the Pro No 1 being the only real difference. The various Pro Tour versions went in a very different direction from their Pro No 1 and Vacuum racquets, having a 16x19 pattern, 100 square inch heads (also a 95 version) and noticeably stiffer layups. These were designed much more for baseline players and lacked the comfort, feel and touch of their other "players" sticks.

In fact, I have one Fischer's odd-duck models en-route from Europe. It has the 98 inch head size and 16x20 pattern of the Pro No 1, with the Pro Tour's 22mm head and beam width -- Pro Tour FT 98. I am guessing the layup is stiff, but we'll see. There are a bunch of these variations on common model themes that have been cooked up over the years.

Is it the red or yellow one?

I used the red one back in 2001. I did not like it at all. Very low powered, just didn't feel right. But another person on this board had the yellow ones & thought they were quite nice.

Yes, it is the red 98" 16x20 FT version as in your pic. No surprise that it feels very different with the 22mm width. The yellow one in your pic is the normal Pro Tour 100" 16x19 version -- yellow/silvers are better than the later yellow/blacks IMO. I bought this one more for the really nice NOS Fischer bag that the seller threw into the deal and the fact that it is an oddity specification-wise, which will be a nice addition to the collection. I have a yellow/black 95" Pro Tour FT Extreme that I actually like quite a bit when banging from the baseline. For actual play, none of these will displace the Pro No 1. I finally scored an M-Speed Pro No 1 Black Granite which will take a while to get here from overseas.

No, I have never hit with the Progressor, but I do still see them around. I am also interested in how close the Pro No 1 Black Granite and the X Force Pro are -- we'll see when it gets here. I can easily switch between the X Force Pro and M Speed Pro No 1, but I think the M Speed is a slightly sweeter feeling stick, and that goes for both the 320 and 295 gram versions. I could, however, do just fine with Pacific's versions if NOS or good examples of the Fischer's were not available. Objectively, I am not giving up anything on the court with Pacific. I am also especially fond of the 330g VT98 and the 330g red/black/white Pro No 1's. The M Speed Pro No 1 105's are no slouches, and neither are the M Comp 95's (but so hard to find them NOS or in great condition now). So many good racquets.

Is your Pro Tour FT 98 1 cm longer so 27.4"?

I believe there are two versions of the Pro Tour FT 98, both are 16x20. The red/black one is the older and the yellow/black is newer (the photo also shows 16x20). Both are FT's.

I have played with the Progressor NT. On spec, it was a wonderful racket: slightly heavier than MPro 1 98 UL and with the exact same mold, 1 cm longer so more power and reach. However, it did not have the same sweat feel of the Magnetic Speed Pro No 1. It actually felt kind of hollow to me. At one time, I had three of these and was seriously trying hard to make them my main racket. I eventually let them go.

At one time, I was forced to use the Kinetic 7G (due to a shoulder issue), which is 0.5 inch longer and it played great. That was the main reason I gave the Progressor a serious try.

No, it is 27". I am not expecting it to play like my Pro No 1's due to the different beam width and probably stiffer layup. I am guessing it will feel similar to my Pro Tour Extreme FT (this one is 27.4"). Man, could I be more blind and miss the "Frequency Tuned" on the yellow racquet? The 16x19 yellow/black/silver's read "Air Carbon".

I am not a real extended length guy, but funny that you mention the 7G. I have a 7G prototype made for an ATP player (my ex-PK buddy does not recall the name) which weighs in at 13+ ounces. A real beast. It is just a crazy hit off the ground, but lacks maneuverability when I need it most. Great stick, just not quick. Love to hit with it, but not use it for matches. You are right, the Progressor NT looks exactly like a longer Pro No 1 on paper. Good to know about the feel compared to the Pro No 1. Thanks!

I think Andreas Seppi played with ProKennex, at least a paint job, at one time.

Yeah, that is why it caught my eye. There are a few variations that never made it to the USA. Not so long ago I picked up a 285 gram red/black/white Pro No 1, which I never knew existed. So now, there have been 260, 285, 295, 320 and 330 gram variations of the exact same frame/mold and exact same string patterns.

Regarding the 7G prototype, this was reportedly for a player they were trying to sign to a sponsorship quite a few years ago. Who knows, maybe Seppi? PK (in the USA) was notorious for being short on money, so they weren't able to market and sponsor like the big boys. I have two 5G prototypes that were made for Fernando Gonzales -- yet another proposed sponsorship deal that never came to fruition probably due mostly to a shortage of funds.
