50 year old, 250 lbs, starting to run again

Or you could consider using a rowing machine. I've been using one regularly in the gym and it has very low impact on your knees, hips and ankles and gets you much fitter very quickly. It also exercises more of your body than running. Once you regain some of your old fitness you can start to run...

    rowing times?

I've used the rowing machine intermittently for about 10 years. Someone on these boards once described a pyramid exercise that club rowers use as a fitness test and it has always worked well for me as a sort of fitness benchmark in the gym. When I decided to get much fitter this Easter I started...

    Replacing Ai98s

Is there no interest in the Dimitrov frame? In some ways its seems similar to the Ai98 -- similar head size, similar power, enhanced spin, modern players racket etc A 100 is a little bigger than I like.

    Replacing Ai98s

My Ai98s are pretty thrashed. There's a new Yonex -- DR98 -- that looks like a straight replacement but what else fits the bill? The Wilson Dimitrov racket, the Pacific Tour Pro 97? I play a "modern" all court game with a one-handed backhand. I don't have a problem producing power but equally I...

    Wawrinka's strings

Thanks for that. I did search but nothing recent came up.

    Wawrinka's strings

Does anyone know what he's using?

    Dominic Thiem-the future superstar...

I was courtside when he beat Gimeno-Traver. I have seen him on TV and love his backhand. Up close my main impression is that he hits the ball well on both sides but doesn't get up the court at all -- in fairness he can hit winners from so far behind the baseline that may not matter so much --...

Yonex Ai 98: tell me more about her

I have been playing the Ai98 since last summer. Always strung with Alu power and always very comfortable. I have just changed to Alu power rough and am noticing some shoulder soreness. Can there be a difference between the two strings in this racket or is is just coincidence?

Next Generation of Pro Staff is Here; Pro Staff RF 97 Review

Yonex don't have a 95 on the market at the moment. That is a huge mistake, particularly given the great 95s they have made in the past. The RD 7 being as good a 95 as was ever made and highly suited for spin/power tennis for those who like a heavier racket.

Yonex Ai 98: tell me more about her

Thanks for the comparison with the Graphene Prestige. As to your other comparison I think the AI98 is more than a little like the APD. It isn't quite the shot making super-wand that the APD is, and it is a lot softer. But both rackets are very playable, very solid for their weight, very easy...

Yonex Ai 98: tell me more about her

Is one of those frames the Graphene Prestige MP? Now that you have had a chance to play the AI 98 a comparison of the Yonex with the latest Prestige would really be appreciated.

Some live photos of RF97 and RF97 Autograph

Good choice. I am hitting the AI98 at present -- probably leaving the Blade Tour behind -- and it has a lot to offer. Have you hit the new Prestige MP? If you have and are able to offer thoughts on it they would be much appreciated.

    Diary of a Racketaholic

You are quite right. Lots of interest in the stick will just be wannabe mania. All sorts of people who a year ago could only use the 90" Pro Staff because only that gave them the control/feel/touch/serve/volley/spin/slice/pain free tennis/whatever will soon be using a thicker beamed and much...

Yonex Ai 98: tell me more about her

I agree. I've played about 10 hours with the AI98. I had been playing the Blade Tour but decided to move to something that would make it easier to work the ball more. I looked at the current crop of 95s and didn't like any of them (the best was the Pure Control 95+ but it was too flexible for...
