16 year old, Player's Racquet with a little Extra Pop?

Hey guys.
As the title says, I am looking for a new racquet. I just recently started getting back into tennis after taking a break from competetive for a couple years and playing more soccer. I have played since I was pretty young and have had plenty of instruction in the past and by no means am I starting from scratch. I have long full strokes and hit a little hard, not super hard.

Anyway, I have always loved the feel of a player's racquet but I struggle with them when I am off balance as I am not a super strong guy. I have been looking for a racquet that feels and plays like a true control or player's racquet but still has just a little extra pop for off balence shots. To sum it up I think I'm looking for a racquet that's maybe on the lower end of the player's racquet spectrum.

I have tried a couple Wilsons already. Notably, tried the nSixOne, and the nTour. So far those have been my two favorites. I enjoyed the SixOne for everything until I got off balance, I couldn't generate enough power to get it past the service line. From research, I have decided that the Babolat Pure Storm could be a great balence of the control of a player's racquet, yet still just a little extra pop when its needed. I haven't played with one yet and just ordered one to demo, along with the AeroPro Drive. I was thinking of trying the Pure Control too. Thoughts on the Pure Storm for me? Other recommendations?

Thanks

Stop I no the perfect racket for you im 16 have long textbook strokes hit with toppin and look the maneuvorability of a players racket like n 6 1 tour fed racket but am not strong enough i had n 61 team but sold both they were good but not as good as the n pro surge a players racket 7pt hl but with forgiveness of 100 head and not to heavy! I also like n tour my sis has one its greta for those who tend to top edge balls on occasion as it has extra 0.25 inch but isnt really a players racket as such as it lacks manouverability

All of these are really great. Try a demo of 4 or 5 racquets that are suggested before your buy.

Thats just the new paint job for the n 6 1 team! I say surge all the way!
What are you talking about? The nPS is nothing like a 6.1 team. It's 10.8 oz, flexy, and more evenly balanced. Not a lot of power but a nice frame for someone needing a lighter players racket.

Diablo mid has more pop than Wilson players frames. I just happen to have 2 beauties in nearly new condition. Check out the For Sale board.

Hve you playd/ owned both spec is very similar maybe wilson made a few changes as 6 1 teams are known to break, I should know :p

I'm not saying your wrong or anything! Then again I may as well as you are! Sorry they are too similar!

Thanks for the replies so far. I will probably be trying the Surge and hopefully the Head Prestige this weekend. I would love to hear more opinions on the
Babolat Pure storm. I think it seems like a good match but concerned about the fact that there could be too much power. How does it fall on the power and control spectrum compared to the pure drive? I played with the Pure Drive and I liked the feel, but it felt too powerful and not quite the control I would like. Is the Pure Storm a little less power and more control? Hopefully, I'll find out when i try the Storm next week.

If you're looking for some pop off a mid player's frame, the Diablo has it.

I... like the PK Type R. Solid, comfortable, good heft... from what I've heard it's quite low powered but when I demoed it it sure didn't seem that way o_o

Hey i'm 16 too, sound bout the same as u. I use a prestige classic at the moment but if you want more pop go for the pure storm. When i played with it, it had both power and control whilst really really super soft.

im 16 as well, and i switched to the aero pro drive from a old steffi graff prostaff lite 7.0. i dont really have long strokes, but swing fast from a short backswing. I actuly quit varsity soccer as a sophmore to train for tennis my junior year, ive been playing for 11 months now. the aeropro is slightly stiffer than the wilsons, but tight strings keep it from being to springy i use gosen sheep 18g at 82 lbs to keep the ball in the court. its really a great racquet, and can add alot of variety to your game with spin and flatter stokes.

im 17 and use wilson tour 95s leaded at 3 and 9 and slightly counterbalanced at the handle. strung w/ babolat superfine play at 60/58. i like it....has a nice pop and good spin potential.

I just got back from hitting with both the nSix One (16 x 19) and the AeroPro Drive. Even though I think I still have alot more demoing to do, I am almost confident I will be getting the Six One. I figure I'll string it a little softer until I get used to having that little power. Keep in mind I have long strokes but I don't hit really hard. That is why I have been so hesitant about the Sixone. It doesn't really seem like such the player's racquet that it is labeled as. Anyone agree?I started to realize, usually, I like a little bit heavier racquet, and the sixone is about my limit, but can anyone recommend similar racquets, maybe with a little more power?

The AeroPro was just weird. I can't even say that I didn't like it. I would still like to have more time with this one. I didn't play bad, actually I hit pretty well, just needed some adjustments. I think I would like to have it strung tighter maybe for some extra control.

My APD and Babolat Pure Storm demos are in the mail and are supposed to get here on Tuesday. So I that will give me some more time with the APD and I will finally get to try the Pure storm. I'm really anxious to try this one because It sounds like a really good match, other then being a little light.

as a n6-1 user, i actually did like the APD. Felt much more solid than all Babolats I've tried to date. I hated the APC and the PD.

I need a little more help again with choosing racquets. I really love hitting with the nSix-One 95 (16x18). My groudstrokes are incredible. They are consistently deep and strong with plenty of topspin. But it is so heavy. I may be 16 but I only weigh about 135 so the weight of this racquet just makes me so tired even after only 20-30 mins of tennis. My arms get so exhausted, almost to the point where I can't swing at all. It is worst on serves. I just returned from almost a two year break from tennis so I am not sure if this pain is from the heavy racquet or the break from tennis, maybe both.

Has anyone made a transistion to a heavier racquet like this? Could me scrawny arms adapt to this racquet from just hitting or do am I going to have to work hours at the gym?

And... Can anyone recommend a racquet that is as similar to the nsix-one 95, (open string pattern) as possible without all the extra weight? One of the reasons I love the nsix one 95 is because its extra pop and power so something with some power too? Please help! nPS maybe?

Thanks

nsixone is the way to go. i have the prostaff that came before that (pretty much the same racket). i'm not sure what you mean by "off balance", but hitting a defensive shot is generally more of a loopy ball than a winner. when in trouble or are off the court, hit a lob. you'll develop the lob and learn to place it. don't get a different racket to compensate for your rusty skills ;)
