Nadal quite often has tapped the pen on the camera after signing. Now he is doing it more violently (and more times), and its making the ink run down the camera and mess up the signature.

Lets not get carried away with "very likely". I still don't think Djokovic's injury is that serious personally, but that said, he is most likely the only person that can beat Nadal over 5 sets although there is Wawrinka and Ferrer. And then if he loses to Ferrer again tomorrow or Nishikori that will just be more cause for concern.

Well I genuinely believe he is still the odds on favourite. It's up to you whether you want someone like that to be called the likely winner or the very likely winner.

As you said, bo5 makes it so much tougher to beat Nadal. We'll have to wait and see how bad Djokovic' injury is I guess.

Good, I'm glad its being recognized. Its one of my favorite rituals in the world.

Mine too. And Nadal has never been one to write insulting messages on the camera like Djokovic did after beating Haas in Rogers Cup 2012 (he wrote something about having to play too late, like a whinging little baby).

...what about it? I didn't even mention Roland Garros. Oh, that's right, Nadal's dominance of Roland Garros is so absolute that it's pounded into your brain before I even mentioned it. Good -- let it consume you. Even gave you the not-so-subtle 'red clay' clue, but alas, you could not catch on.

but did he make the final? You claimed he made all the red clay finals.

Good to see a classy person winning a masters event in 2014 for a change.

Agreed. And we'll see the same thing next week, too, when Nadal wins Rome to win his 28th Masters 1000 title (and his 8th title in Rome overall, a record, and it would also make him the first player to win at least 4 titles 8+ times).

It's irrelevant. Here's my post-

Nadal wins. Nadal has made the final of the tournament every time it has been played on red clay.

Hmm, I'm posting in a thread called the 2014 Madrid Masters, and I claim that Nadal has made the final of the tournament on each occasion it has been played on red clay. Now, where is the ambiguity? Where did I mention Roland Garros?

Might as well. Especially good to see him win Madrid, because he hadn't won it many times. If I was going to choose one clay masters title for Nadal each year for the next 3-4 years, it'd be Madrid.

Agreed. There's no reason why he can't rack up more Madrid titles in the coming years. Wouldn't surprise me to see him win 8 of them, like he has done in Barcelona, Monte Carlo and Roland Garros (and soon to be Rome).

Let me guess here without even looking at the OOP : Nadal is scheduled to play the first SF , right ? Leaving the second semifinal winner with little time for recovery. Maybe Tio already has it all worked out or the organizers are wary about the potential complaining , so Nadal almost always plays the first semi even if the norm is to give the top seed ( and hence the bigger draw) the second semi/prime time slot ;-)

I wish Nadal had got the second semi slot. He and Tio would throw a big tantrum and cry hoarse about how unfair it is that the organizers would do something about it at least from the next year. Nadal and his camp may be blamed for whining about these things, but badly scheduled semis clearly putting one finalist at a disadvantage are just unfair and if Nadal's whining fixes some of these things, so be it.

Wow, an awful lot of conjecture and hypothesis and untruths in there. Let me ease your troubled mind. The final is scheduled for 7:00 pm, the same time as the second semi-final today which unless you have both semis played at the same time is as fair as it can be to both finalists and is totally in line with every other Masters if not better.

However, Djoko missed due to an apparent "injury". Basically he wanted to avoid facing the Madrid crowd, after his despicable behavior last year, when he spewed unimaginable curse words at them.
The Madrid people can't possibly welcome a person who comes to their homeland to play, and behaves the way he did.

The Madrid people are not too thrilled with the way the Djokovic team behaved after he won in 2011 either (neither are a lot of the other players). Can you imagine if Rafa had beaten Djokovic in a tournament in Belgrade and then driven through the streets waving the Spanish flag and honking horns and hanging out of the windows screaming at the top of their lungs? And to top it off had Uncle Toni climb on the top of the car and hump it while everyone yelled and cheered? The Serbs probably would have taken military action.

Maybe Djoko should get The Great Serbian Open reinstated.
That tourney, which was owned by the Djoko family itself, and which was shut down. I wonder why?!

Why? because the Djokovic family didn't pay their bills and several lawsuits are pending against them. Always classy those Djokovic's.

Ah I see you only meant all the madrid events. For some1 like Nadal, who cares about making finals at the masters level?

Considering the Madrid Masters on CLAY has only been around for six years, since 2009, there haven't been many opportunities for anybody to win it many times. Rafa has won it twice, Federer has won it twice, and Djokovic has won it once.

Its interesting with Nadal, his semi-finals stats are inhuman, and I think he generally feels like its a huge accomplishment to win the semi (almost as much as winning the title). I'll never forget Nadal's celebration after winning the 2012 AO SF vs Federer. After shaking the umpire's hand, Nadal went to the middle of the court, sunk down to his knees and:

Yep. Totally classless behaviour that was. Pathetic!

Why? because the Djokovic family didn't pay their bills and several lawsuits are pending against them. Always classy those Djokovic's.

No idea. Must be corruption, I guess

I would not completely count out Ferrer, he is playing very well this tournament.

Ferrer winning Madrid would be a well deserved victory on his resume.

No...I told you why. The Djokovic family didn't pay their bills and didn't fulfill the terms of their contract such as making various improvements to the facilities. The government department that was letting them use municipal tennis courts for free for the tournament wouldn't renew their lease and filed lawsuits against them. But you're probably right about the corruption too.

Rafa was moving like his 2008 version. Very quick. Hadn't seen this in months. Good news for his supporters. Bad news for his rivals.
