Kyrgios, the promising star of the future, and Nishikori, the tennis ninja who just received a huge lesson from Guru Monfils, battle for a place in the Miami Open Final. The two have met on one previous occasion, having clashed in last year's Shanghai Masters. Nishikori won that encounter 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. Who will take this one?

Kyrgios in 3.

Kyrgios played great today. Nishi is good but is beatable, the Tomic match in Brisbane comes to mind. Can't see why Kyrgios wouldn't have the chance to beat him especially after Kyrgios easily dispatched of Raonic while Nishi faced match points against Monfils..

I agree. Nishi's had the best possible preparation, having had an extended training session with the guru. Nishikori, going through 3 full sets of training with the guru, including a 3rd set tiebreak as his final trial, will overwhelm Kyrgios.
He also saved MPs against The Guru, his mental strength and clutch level is now higher than Sampras'.
He might even take out Novak as well. ;)
Lets not go overboard there. :p

Thanks for the stats. But LOL at putting purple in parentheses as the type of hardcourt. :D I'm pretty sure this particular hardcourt surface is called Laykold.

Yeah future GOAT beats automaton, finally some good tennis news today :)
Such an important win for KG. His first master semi. He's coming along nicely.
Raonic is a boring talentless bot. Nick is a future #1. Book it :p

I suspect Kyrgios might grasp the opportunity and win in straights.

I Can't wait to see what happens here. Honestly, it's all gravy as I would love to see either get through.

Nish knows he can beat Djokovic on the biggest stage and I suspect Young St. Nick doesn't lack the belief either :)

Don't you EVER dare claim you support KG after the awful venom that you spat at him in the KG/Raonic thread. I cannot believe how viciously you went against him for one of the most significant moments in his career (going deep in a tier one event). Such a damn shame too because I'm sure he will become the best Australian player since Laver. Pure talent this guy.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA. Awful venom, viciously. Are you high? And I never said I support Kyrgios so pull your head out of your ass. Simply because i'm predicting him to win doesn't mean I want him to. I'm assuming you're just trolling but it's quite cringeworthy.

Kyrgios should win this in 2 easy sets. His improved return game should do quite well with Nishikori's meager serve. Nishikori may break some, but it won't be enough. Nishikori has had some strong flashes of brilliance at Miami, but doubt he'll bring his A game after 2.5 hours in the heat today. Definitely want Nick in final with Nole.

who the **** wants nishikori in the finals? with djoko they have pretty similar playstyle, and nishikori isnt at his best..kyrgios on the other side has a chance to do at least a little damage to the boring robot.

The 2014 US Open certainly wasn't happy with the matchup. Heavyweight felled in 4.....

That USO match was an anomaly. I can't see how Nishikori could possibly beat Djokovic in Miami. Kyrgios won't likely beat Djokovic either but at least it will give us a chance to assess where Kyrgios' level is at. Kyrgios has way more career potential than Nishikori IMO.

No, what is cringe-worthy is you claiming in another thread that you support him when all you do is insult him 24/7.
Just because he's young and a bit feisty, you insist on treating him like a cross between Mesrine and Al Capone, which is bloody ridiculous. You go on and on about how he should be banned (for what? Vague obscenities mumbled during a match as a teenager? Agitated reactions during tense moments? He's a choir boy compared to what some guys like McEnroe or even Safin did on court)and you're begging Raonic to crush him. But then after he wins the match, you have the nerve to praise him as an asset to Australian tennis????
I have met hypocrites in my life but you really take the cake.

Because I said good on him and posted his success in the Aussie thread, suddenly i'm a fan and love him? No, learn the difference

Praying for a Raonic win. NK should be banned. What happened to that suspended suspension he got? He was meant to be on best behaviour yet all I've seen in recent months is tanking, whining about the game being rigged and being fake sick.

So blinded by hatred and so wrong. NK hasn't done anything that would deserve a permanent ban. And what you should have seen instead of this accumulation of petty offenses is a massively talented guy who has made spectacular progress in his return game (has practically doubled his return stats since last year) and who's finally coming into his own: winning his 1st tournament and confirming in a master. Currently, Kyrgios has the 4th best hard court stats on the tour. Service games and return games won stats combined for 2016 (before Miami):
1- Djokovic: 89.7% (SG) + 36.6% (RG)
2- Federer: 89.1 + 31.5 (with an asterisk of course because he hasn't played much)
3- Murray: 86.2 + 30.2
4- Kyrgios: 89.1 + 26.2
5- Delpo: 86.2 + 28.5
6- Wawa: 87.2 + 26.7
7- Berdych: 84.5 + 27.5
8- Tsonga: 90.2 + 21.5
9- Monfils: 84.2 + 27.2
10-Raonic: 91.3 + 20.0

(Nishi is #12 BTW with 84.6 + 25.3, trying to redeem himself in Miami for sure. Rather lackluster stats so far for him this season)

Kyrgios is improving fast right now and he's the best prospect Australia's had for a really long time. He's nowhere near as bad a guy as you're painting him and he has quite an exciting game to watch. But after the post I just quoted above, your "awesome stuff for him" at the end of the Rao match doesn't sit very well with me, sorry.

How dare I say awesome stuff for him! I can't dislike a guy and then congratulate him on a forum where he'll never see my post.

As for his stats, that's great for him... doesn't change the fact that he's acted like an idiot for months on end. As for things he should be banned for, abusing umpires, abusing linesmen, abusing the crowd, bashing balls out of stadiums, tanking games, his disgusting comments to Stan and Vekic, skipping Davis Cup, language abuse. All this "he's not that bad" is just BS. Although I don't know what i'm expecting in replying to you as I think? you were one of the posters who were saying how the world is too PC and people should be allowed to say what they want (apologies if it wasn't you).

He was never getting suspended from the Stan incident. However, his related suspended suspension expired sometime in February. Sorry to tell you that mate.

Those were my words, Veronique didn't quote correctly, I knew he wasn't getting suspended, but remembered it being suspended, depending on if he did any more bad things which he sure has done but I guess not to the point of a ban.

I didn't wish to revive the multitude of Nick is/is not getting banned threads. I simply couldn't pass up the opportunity to say "sorry to tell you that mate."

He's a bit of a DB no doubt but he's still young, he isn't even in the ballpark of guys like JMac and IMO he's on balance very good for the game. Sorry to tell you that mate.:D

Personally, I do go and watch his matches and I've seen him in person several times and never once did he misbehave (though he does like to chat with the nearby crowd). So maybe he saves his boorish behavior for the TV courts to maximize it's impact. ;)

Let's not exaggerate now. Nishi is better than Raonic.
No he's not and Errorkori is tired from 2.5 hours of play in 90 degree heat. Kyrgios is much improved from their last meeting (in which he won the first set 6-1). Kyrgios is a level above Raonic and Nishikori on hard courts this year.

Nishi has similar hard court dominance in 2014 and 2015 for the record.

A tired Nishikori to succumb in straights.

Half of you chose Nick. Such disrespect towards the Master and his disciple. :p Nick had chances last time.
But IIRC, he did not convert lot of BPs. So this time it will be tight given he has improved so much on return and Nishi has average serve.

Think Kei will be gassed after yesterday. Nick should take this one depending on his level of clowning
