its crazy some of the drop off you have between the first and second guys from some of these countries.

FAA has come out to play in a blue shirt. Did he lose all his red ones?

It does seem strange, when the rest of the team is wearing red. But did you know that Canada's official colours are red, white and BLUE? The blue just isn't in the flag, so most Canadians, and others, presume that the national colours are simply red and white.
Still....

I have been pleasantly surprised by the play quality of the Greek guy playing Felix. Yes, the score in the first set was dominant, but he was aggressive and often had points against Felix on his serve. And, he can return serve, in spite of being a giant. He came to play.

Still can't see what the FAA hype is all about.. sure if he gets a comfortable short ball he can smack a forehand into the corner but there's nothing really special about that

Guess you've missed all of his crazy wide stretches in the back corners to return the ball? How often have you watched him? He is one of the most athletic players of all time.
Having said that, he is cerebral, and he thinks too much at times and then mis-hits. And he cares, particularly when playing for others. That might be his downfall. But his skills?...no one can deny those. IMHO.

In the interview after the match, Felix referred to his shirt colour, and a 'confusion' with the team. Seems that he misunderstood something and showed up with the blue shirt.

Forehand and serve major weapons with no weakness. Still likely dominant number one of the coming decade.:p

I see on twitter that someone complained that Tennis Channel is showing the Tsitsit/Shapo match over the Isner v ?? match. Hmmm.

I know it's a freak thing, but do they really need to be so cheap that they have to move back and forth between serve and line? Just have three and keep them there.

It has to be said that this does not have anywhere near the atmosphere of Davis Cup Finals.

Great time of year for young players as they often take a big leap forward in level at the start of the year. Tour is suddenly young again which makes it all the more interesting.

Dat pass by Shapo; FAA approved.:p

Tennis TV is really, really struggling. I've got multiple device unable to launch most of the feeds; just thankful Shapo v Tsits feed keeps coming back to life.

Haha! Denis with a great DTL, and Stefanos comes back with a great hail Mary.
5-5 in set 2.

The PRA arena is virtually empty in Brisbane.. organisers were upgrading people to the primo seats so that those areas looked full for tv. I'd say the arena is at 50% ?
Might have just been lull after fans taking break after first match. Really hats off to Aussies who have attended Brisbane well. One of the Sydney groups is a trainwreck with Fraud's withdrawal, but still plenty of fans watching for first day of event.

You'd have to be a fool not to try to attend because its just an impressive number of quality matches for the week and we're still waiting for the first high stakes doubles match.:p

The hard core Davis Cup fans are not here at all, but the general attendance far better than Madrid's Davis Cup Finals. Gotta feeling they ought to bring that to Australia as well. They've got covered courts for these events so they could host Davis Cup Finals in these three sittings or just do the whole thing in Melbourne nearly.

Any thoughts on court speed?
I've got a feeling they've all switched to Basel surface like Auz Open and the only thing saving things here from scorching fast is the covered courts keeping on court temperatures within reason.

Yes, it is GreenSet. Yet I’m quite surprised so far. Expected it to be much worse.

Shapo serving like a God on this surface and it just does not look hot on court. The fact that neither has broken gives you a clue.;)

Shapovalov and Tsitsipas both have above average serve and sucky return though. At least rallies doesn’t look like absurdish grass ping-pong.
Yeah this is lower bouncing than the fast Chinese hard courts.

I have to say given Demon's proclivity for success in fast conditions this is not a bad move by the Aussies. I still hate it and I doubt it does Kyrgios much good, but they are better off rigging things for the Demon.:happydevil:

Well Shapo has a better return than Tsits and now apparently a better serve. Canada cruising!
