BackhandDTL

He hits with a 3/4 western forehand grip so he can swing insanely fast on chest high balls that sit up and still have them go in. In fact, its a very high percentage shot. This is why he has so much success against Ned.It's kinda sad how the way to beat the number one player on an indoor surface now is to be a bigger pusher than he is... it's also interesting how Djokovic can man-handle spin-oriented defensive players like Nadal on hard but seems helpless against flat pushers. Maybe the action on the ball helps him generate pace?
If you try to do the same with lower skidding balls that bounce to waist height the ball will go into the net, so he imparts more spin and can't unleash unless he's given a short ball.
His backhand is extremely consistent and is probably the best in the world DTL but it lacks the CC angles that someone like Murray has or the pace that Wawrinka has. If his backhand DTL is not firing, Djokovic and his flat hitting opponent will be hosting a major pushfest.
