Medvedev is defending champion, can he hang on to his crown considering he has over 5000 points to defend for the remainder of the year?

Will Alcaraz return to winning ways on hard courts and how will he fare with Sinner now injury free and a 2-0 H2H against him in recent weeks on grass and clay?

Djokovic and Nadal have both withdrawn with the wildcards going to Murray, Goffin, Pospisil and Galarneau.

16 seeds as follows:

1) Daniil Medvedev
2) Carlos Alcaraz
3) Stefanos Tsitsipas
4) Casper Ruud
5) Andrey Rublev
6) Felix AA
7) Jannik Sinner
8) Hubert Hurkacz
9) Cameron Norrie
10) Taylor Fritz
11) Matteo Berrettini
12) Diego Schwartzman
13) Marin Cilic
14) Reilly Opelka (withdrew)
15) Roberto Bautista Agut
16) Grigor Dimitrov
17) Gael Monfils

Isn't this great? The draw is an open book. The 3 players mentioned above would be contenders with or without Rafa, but now fans and the talking heads can focus on other players.

- "Medvedev will win. He loves this time of year..."
- "Alcaraz will win, he already has the most M1000s this year"
- "Sinner will win, he is finally reaching his true potential..."

The big 3 forever, but this is a breath of fresh air.

I am awaiting the draw and hoping it is a favorable one for my favorite player Carlos Alcaraz...

I actually feel good about Carlos's draw. Lots of really good players, yes, but at least until the semis I don't see any really huge problems for him, and I do think he will be ready this week - I think he will make it to the final! :) :) :)

LOL, be prepared for Sinner to beat him a third time if they meet in the SF. This is Sinner's preferred surface

Also, why is the draw not available anywhere (ATP website, tournament website)?? And finally... "NATIONAL BANK OPEN"? Really? Jeez Canada, how frikken communist-dystopian are your trying to get?

Carlos will defeat Sinner if they both get that far. Alcaraz is great on this surface too. Carlos all the way to victory! :) :) :) :)

The National Bank is not actually a public run bank, it's just named that way.

Also it mostly operates only in Quebec, which doesn't really make it "national" unless you believed Stephen Harper when he declared Quebec a nation.

As Novak is not playing I am supporting Fritz to win his second masters it won’t be easy though

Medvedev is probably out in his 1st match against Kyrgios. Or Hurkacz in the QF. Both players have a positive H2H against him.
Sinner has a hellish draw. I don't see him smashing Berrettini, Tsitsipas and Alcaraz in a row.

Alcaraz gets the easiest draw by far. Paul, Cilic, Rublev. He is the favorite.

Medvedev is a different kind of BEAST during the North American HC season. Since 2019 he made two USO finals (won one) and one SF, won Cincinnati and Canada Open both once, made another final in Canada, two SFs and one QF (which is his worst result since 2018). There's no way I would count him out against anyone. Medvedev on North American hardcourts? I'm backing him over anyone, especially since no Nole or Rafa

I know, but it just sounds so damn maoist.

- Happy to have Monsieur La Monf back in the mix.
- Hubi could face the fine Finn for the second time in as many weeks. Will the result be the same?
- Brooksby vs Bublik should be a ball, Norrie vs Nakashima should be nifty

FAA could face the two men who beat him the last time he played on hard courts, Sinner's draw is interesting.

Your score sounds about right, but just to make things interesting...I will say Med in 3 sets, 76(3) 26 63.

Kyrgios might withdraw if he wins Washington or might be on fumes
Kyrgios has jumped over 20 places in the live rankings as a result of Washington. He now sits at No 42 and should he win tonight will move up to 37.
A good run at Montreal could see him seeded at the USO, which I’m pretty sure he would prefer, so I would be surprised if he didn’t play Canada.

Q2: Kecmanovic
Q3: Sinner
Q4: Alcaraz

Are these two of the next great rivalries?
