5.0 players looking to hit on Kona Coast (Big Island)

Any 5.0 level players interested in hitting between 12/14 and 12/20, or between 1/11 and 1/14? Don't really care about match play, just want to hit a few balls. I'll be in Kailua Kona from 12/14-12/20 and in the Kohala area from 1/11-1/14.

Yep, Jan-Michael. He charges more than I thought, but if you are interested and want more info, let me know. He lives/works in Kona.

The rate he gave me was for a 'one hour lesson'. I don't know if he would consider a different rate for 'hitting.'

Anyway, I should probably just give the email: info@gambilltennisacademy.com and let them do the rate quotes instead of all this 2nd hand info.

How long has he been there? I was there in May. I guess I did not look in the right places :confused:. His web site needs some work

He's lived there since April-ish 2006, been teaching since about October-ish 2006, when he's not playing. He was teaching at a resort but has recently moved to a private court.

No comment on that website, I am not involved.

Do you know which resort? We stayed in Kona Coast Resort which had a few courts and the resort next door had many courts but only saw a few older folks using them.

How much does an ex pro charge for privates anyway?? In Vegas, David Pate charges $120 an hour I believe. While we're at it, does Taylor Dent teach in Hawaii also?? Or is he a coach/asst coach in DI somewhere, maybe Arizona since Tom Lloyd went there. How much does he charge?. Are these guys doing it for the money, or just to stay involved in the game. I would think they would have made enough to not have to wrok if they didnt have to.

go see Nick Moxley at the Hilton Waikoloa. I think he charges about 65ish for hitting lessons...he is a great hitter and loves to get out and workout with good players.

I hit with him the past Sept and we had some great sessions.

if you cant get a hit with Nick, also look up Molina Oda or JMG's brother (forgot his name)--if you call over to the Hilton Waikola, they will know how to get a hold of Nick, Molina or Gamble--they all teach under the Hilton "umbrella"

anyway, if you get a hit w/ Nick, tell him Brian from San Diego, CA said "Hi"
