Fed Fans: What if Djokovic and Nadal face off in the FO final?

Who would you root for and why?

Nadal can reach 18 slams with a victory.

Novak would be further back at 16 but would have double Nole slam and all the momentum to get more.

Both represent serious threats to Fed’s slam record.

I'll be sick to my stomach, go back and forth before the match, choose Nadal, and then panic when I think of him winning the US or Wimbledon.

Not fussed. Djoker winning would help preserve Fed's record of course but Nadal winning would be funny on here with all this CYGS talk

Off late, I like him. 12 RG will be quite a story.

There is no hard and fast rule for me whom to support when Rafa and Novak are playing! At times, I have supported Novak and at times Rafa.

In Wimbledon 2018, I was supporting Novak. It was quite a story Novak coming back to win a major. Like a fairytale. Now he has won three in a row, I would want Rafa to get this one, if they both are playing the final.

How could you have not rooted for the epicness of Rafa finally winning another Wimby after so long last yr tho? :)

See, I like fairy tale comebacks.. a player winning a major after a long break is so amazing..

Goran Ivanisevic winning Wimbledon 2001 is my number one fairy tale. Pete Sampras did it in 2002 US Open. Roger Federer did it in AO 2017. Rafael Nadal did it in French Open 2017. Novak Djokovic did it in Wimbledon 2018. Rafa had already won RG 2018, so it's not like he had a drought. I know he hasn't won Wimbledon for a long time too

MN, that said I am disappointed Roger withdrew. I was looking forward to see them both play. Of course, not because I thought Roger will win but because probably this could have been the last opportunity for them to play on clay. Irrespective of who wins, there is lots of magic when they play. In a way, it's sad it will all end one day. Once in a while, I watch the video of Rome 2006, those were the days.. my favourite Roger Rafa match till date

Of course there will be some insufferable trolls and cheap threads in this forum whenever they play but who cares about that.

Thumbs up man... xD

Epic bull

You know he is :) im just the messenger lol

If Djokovic wins, it will be unbearable. Djokovic is the GOAT as it stands. With 2 NCYGS it will be obvious even to rabid Federer fans.

Exactly. Trust me they'd rather deal with TeamRafa than Ultronians.

I just think his body is tired. He had to be hurting after those 2 matches. I do really hope he has an epic FO/USO this year.

Would turn into something like Youtube comment section ? :D

Absolutely. Currently, there are only few here claiming that Djokovic is the GOAT. If he wins RG, all of them will start saying that. I have seen a poll on the internet about GOAT as it stands. At the moment, 59% of people think it is Federer, 24% Djokovic, 9% Nadal and 8% someone else (Laver, Borg, etc.). If Djokovic wins, that will shift. Majority of people worldwide will consider Djokovic the GOAT. With Nadal, you can try clay argument, No1, WTF etc., but with Djokovic there is nowhere to go.

That Goran win is also my favourite. It's the Hollywood script of tennis tournaments.

I was a Pete Sampras fan. College days, couldn't watch freely like today. I remember seeing in news that Pete lost to Roger Federer. I was instantly sad.

Then when Goran reached final, I was like : "Oh God, please let Goran win. This is his last time.". I used to like Pat Rafter. I thought it's his second consecutive Wimbledon final, and he is going to reach many more. So he is certainly going to win another Wimbledon. But for Goran this is the last chance. But Rafter didn't reach another Wimbledon final after that..

I'd root for a disqualifcation of both. But it's impossible, it's not two versions of Kyrgios we're talking about here. If that's the final (which is the second most likely scenario as the first one is Fed beating Rafa in the SFs), there's nothing else to do than just hope it's a terrific and classic match. We haven't been spoiled with classic matches in Grand Slams the last couple of years.

I would be rooting for Djokovic. I think Nadal’s slam winning days are over anyway. And I don’t believe Djoker gets to 20. I have respect for Novak returning from complete mental collapse and he would earned another Noleslam.

I don't know. It would be cool if Djokovic wins RG this year and Nadal wins the AO next year. I like variety. Maybe Fed winning SW17. I don't really count slams that much. There are other things. I just enjoy tennis.

However, it doesn't mean anything. Whoever is a better player will win. Maybe someone else will win RG this year. We are projecting as if the RG final is a done deal. Everyone sees Djokovic vs. Nadal in the final and the tournament has not even begun :). What if both of them lose in R1:eek::-D?

Rafa. Novak will have more chances in the future (not the French but the other three) and Nadal's window is closing. Of course, the two have surprised us too many times to count, so one never knows for sure. Though I would like it very much if Thiem wins, for obvious reasons.

Incorrect - but I might be willing to place him ahead of Nadal despite the one slam deficit. Thus he would be 3rd behind Federer and Laver, the only two true GOAT contenders.

It all depends on whether Nishikori is in his quarter . Also, cool story Prof.

This place would be unbearable if Nole won another “Nole slam”

Does that really matter though ? I don’t think our expectations should be defined by people‘s behavior on a forum, that’s completely meaningless.

I’m not trying to make you root for Djokovic, by the way.

Sorry, but I don't understand your logic. You think Nadal’s slam winning days are over and don’t believe Djoker gets to 20. So why would you rather Djokovic win another "Nole slam" over Nadal winning another RG. Nadal winning 11 or 12 RG don't even make much of a difference as compared to Djokovic winning "Nole slam" twice, which both Federer and Nadal never even did it once.

I explained it. I'm impressed that Novak overcame his mental breakdown to come back and dominate the game. Nadal has always been great on clay, he never struggled or overcame adversity on that surface or on Chartrier. Novak has. As for the Nole slam, it's not the CYGS and not even in the same realm historically.

Yes, especially in 2015 and 2016. The logic of some haters is unbelievable.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Instead of yellow trunks lifting much bigger black trunks,
I see black trunks putting hand on yellow trunks shoulder for support and hopping
off the ground before yellow trunks pushes him down.

I would actually say it was way worse the first 6-7 months of 2016. The post W16 slump made the absolute worst Nole-fans dissapear, and thank god they never returned. Imo Its been a lot better ever since:).

If I watched it at all, it would be a replay, so that I could fast-forward through it. Otherwise, the time between points would be excruciating... I'm undecided on which one I'd even possibly favor. I'm so hoping it won't come down to the choice from hell.
